Ramage - France to England to Ireland to PA
I can trace my Ramage roots back to Mathias Ramage b. Abt. 1676 at Caen, France. Mathias Ramage and his three sons, John, William and Matthew, who had left Caen, France about 1715. Not long after, Mathias and his sons, William and Matthew, moved to the North of England, leaving John at Cornwall where he worked as a farmer. Although the father and sons had been tailors in France, yet they, too, became tillers of the soil upon their locating at Durham where the father died about the year 1760, aged 84 years.
William migrated from England to Bally Kelly, North Ireland. William had a son Benjamin who emigrated to America on July 6th, 1802. Benjamin b: 17 Jun 1782 Parish of Bally Kelly, County of Derry, Ireland d: 15 Aug 1858 Allegheny County, Pittsburgh, PA. Benjamin wife was Rebecca Jane Young b: 19 May 1786 Strabane, County of Tyrone, Ireland d: 20 Jan 1875, Allegheny County, Pittsburgh, PA. Siblings known to date are Letitia, William, John, Benjamin (Jr.), Margaret and Rebecca.
I have an abundance of Ramage information starting with Benjamin down through his descendants and other branches of this Ramage family.
I found branches of the Benjamin Ramage line from PA, who relocated to Oil City in Venango County, Washington County, Fayette County.
If any of this looks familiar to you, I would like to hear from you and hopefully compare information. I am willing to share what I have been able to research to date.
I am always looking for information on additional branches of the Ramage family.
