BOARDMAN, OHIO – Joseph “Joe” Ranalli, 83, passed away Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012.
He was born Sept. 26, 1928, in Pettorano Sul Gizio, Italy, a son of the late Pasquale and Angela (D’Amico) Ranalli and the husband of Mary (Russ) Ranalli.
His family includes wife Mary Ranalli of Youngstown, Ohio; son John (Lynda) Ranalli of Boardman, Ohio, son Fred (Diana) Ranalli of Fort Myers, Fla. and son Ed (Glendora) Ranalli of Girard, Ohio; daughter Diane (Felix) Carbon of Poland, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Joanne Balkan; and brother Ralph Ranalli.
Joe was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.
He was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and attend Youngstown College.
He was an excellent musician, playing the trumpet as Joe Ranalli’s “Biggest Little Band in Town” at many country clubs and the Italian Fests. His music was played on the Italian Hour.
He was the owner/operator of Sohio Gas Station for over 30 years, and was also employed at the Mahoning County Clerk of Courts.
He was a member of the Sons of Italy, Federated Musician Union, a Special Class Ham Operator and was an award winning wine maker.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially taking his grandchildren, Anthony, J.J. and Gina Beshara to school, music and sports functions.
Private calling hours and funeral services were held at the Fabrizio Funeral Home, 619 East Indianola Ave., Youngstown, Ohio.
