I don't know very much about them. I do know that Rosannah Southern's mother was a American Indian known to me as only "Keziah". I'm descended from Joel & Rosannah Randle's daughter, Anna Elizabeth "Eliza" Randle. She was born in 1814 in Mississippi. She married Zachariah Cox on 1 Dec 1830 in Wilkinson Co., Miss. They had 15 children. I have found this family on the 1850, 1860 & 1870 censuses in Louisiana. I don't know when Eliza died, but I've heard that they were living in Tullos, which is in LaSalle Parish, LA. I have so many gaps in this branch of my family that it's not even funny.

I know almost nothing about Joel. I don't know where he and his wife moved to for instance, or anything about his descendants. Can you fill me in?

I'm discovering also. Please call I've been trying to reach you. My grandfather and yours are brothers. Papa's name was Elder Randle and he was married to Hattie Randle. They lived on Monticello Plantation in Holmes County before settling in Sharkey County,Panther Burn MS around 1934. Still looking for their parents and sibling names.

His father was Benjamin Randle (uncle Ben)
His Randle mother was Rosie Randle
My great grandfathers from my grandfather side is Black Jack Randle.

My great grandfather from my grandmother side is Yellow Jack Randle all.

Ok - I went to your website and am so excited! Yes, I am the granddaughter of Tom and Alma Randle's second daughter, also Alma born 1922. Your website is right. They did have 7 daughters - Mildred, Alma, Mary, Joy, Dale, Jemmie, and Tommy Jean. There was no boy. I have all the information from them down.

Oh my goodness! If she is the daughter of John S. and Mary - that is the aunt "Mae" my grandmother spoke of often! I have pictures of her as a young girl. She was my Daddy Tom's (my great-grandfather's) sister. I also have pictures of her parents. I have lots of memoribilia they would be interested in - letters, voting ballots, ect. I know the stories of these folks, but did not know them. I would love to share what I have if there is any interest. I am going to your website now.

I had almost forgotten I wrote back in 2007 about Randle. Thank you for replying. My son-in-law's aunt's(Joanne Glidewell) mother was Mary Elizabeth Randle. Mary Randle was the daughter of John S Randle and Mary McDonald.

Mary Elizabeth Randle was also married to a Mr. Cain (unknown first name) and had a daughter Betty Sue Cain. Do you know of any Cain's in that Randle family?

Thank you for your reply. I only know about James Randle, and after he married Sarah. I do not have the names of his parents. I do have lots of info after that and some photos. I have been searching for his family for years, hoping I could connect with someone.

I am related to this family through the sister Susan/Susanne Randle/Randall b abt. 1832 who m Peter Patraw/ Pierre Petrin. She is the sister of Joseph Randle b 1825 VT who m Patience Blackmere and also is the sister of Peter Randall/Randle b abt 1834 VT who m Elizabeth Marvin and Clarisa Carpenter.

These siblings appear to be the children of Charles Randall/Randle b abt 1796 France and Angeline Taylor/Taillon b abt 1806 Quebec. I have further information on the Taylor family.

I would like to exchange information.

I am not sure if there is any connection, but my GGG Grandfather was James Randle born in Alabama Abt. 1822, He married Sarah C Chambers 1844 in Arkansas. He had a brother died in Civil War. Does any of this connect with your Randles?

Hi Randy,

Have you considered taking a Y-DNA test though Family Tree DNA or other organization? We have several Randle men that have tested as part of the Randolph Y-DNA Project. Most those that have tested fall into the same general grouping and can trace their lineage back to John Randle and Mary Johns of King William Co., VA. From VA they spread across the whole country.

There is also another group of people with the Randle surname that seems to have originated in the MS area and spread from there into Texas and other areas of the South. This group is predominately African-American. Whether they picked up the name by inter-marriage or were given or picked up the name after emancipation is not clear. I do not believe we have any DNA results from anyone in this group, but it would be very valuable to assist in tracing ancestors.

If you are interested in DNA testing, let me know and I can send you a kit at the group rate; contact me for more details.

John Randle and Mary Ware had seven children:
1. Wilson (b. 15 JAN 1771; d. 1850-60)
2. Ann
3. Susan
4. Ony/Amy (b. 1775-6; d. 1850-60)
5. Frances (Frankie) (b. ABT 1781; d. BEF 1824)
6. Thomas (b. ABT 1784; d. BEF 7 MAY 1819)

Hello All,

My name is Randy Lynn Randle Jr. I am now age 31. I am born and raised in Los Angeles, Ca. my father Randy Randle Sr. died when I was age 4 at age 27 here in Southern California in June of 1982. My Grandfather Mr. Harrison Randle died when I was 5 and I have no memory of him. I do know that my father took my Mother and I, then Anna (Pam) Randle to visit our relatives in Lexigton, MS. when I was around age 3. As far as I am aware; I am my father's only child, and my father was my grandfather's only child. Thus, leaving me clueless as to where my lineage stems. I have always been told by mother that my father's family is in MS. Oh how I would love to meet them! The most intriguing part of this thread I guess, is the fact that it is authored by a person named Thelma. My mother always told me to look for a women called T-Thelma (Is this you?) because she was the most remembered by her the one time she went to MS. with my father. Well I am very interested in knowing more about this Randle family. As I stated in the subject line..... I sure do wish I am part of your family.

My grandfather was Paul Joseph Randle, born August 8, 1905 in Piney Woods, Mississippi. I don't know much about him other than he was an accomplished musician who played with the Tiny Bradshaw Band in the 30s and 40s. He attended the Piney Woods School in Miss. and later attended the West Central School of Agriculture in Minnesota. I would like to know if he perhaps, is related to this family of Randles in Mississippi?

Here is my line - Tom Randle 1895 - John S Randle and Mary McDonald - Thomas G Randle and Jemmina Gathings - John F Randle and Nancy Warren Harris and - Thomas Randle and Nancy Davidson - Major John Randle and Molly Ware- William Randle and Anne Marshall- John and Mary Johns Randle. I have LOTS of information on this line. If it connects - I am happy to share. John F and Thomas G Randle both served in the Confederate army, but neither died in it.

I was wondering if anyone can help me i have found my grt grandfather(x6)in the 1841 census john randle, wife susan and two children walter born 1837 and william born 1939 in uchlawrcoed, bedwelty, found them again in the 1861 census without walter and william(could both be married by then)but the spelling is different its now spelt Randall ,living in aberdare they have 4 children amelia, james(my grandfather x5),mary anne and john. My problem is i can`t find any mention of them in the 1851 censusthe last two children were born in 1850 and 1852 in aberdare. This gap holds the information i most need. Can anyone please help.
