Hi, I am looking for info on some NC Ranes/Raines/Rains and was hoping someone might have some info.

I am trying to verify information I have and also get some additional information.

I am looking for info on a Sidney Ranes(sp. Raines or Rains)
He was b. 16 Sept 1852 d. 17 Apr 1918 Vance Co.
He was married to a Lucy Jane Wilkins. She was born 28 Nov 1861 in Wake Co. and d. 11 Mar 1929 Vance Co.

I am trying to verify information on both of their parents.
For Sidney Ranes I have:

m:-Ellen Rains
Siblings: John,Nancy, Martha, Joseph, Monroe, and Madison.

For Lucy Wilkins, I have:

I'm researching the Ranes Family Genealogy for my children. James Lilbert Ranes preferred to be called Lilbert. His oldest son, Raymond Sheilds Ranes, became an educator & fathered five children, the oldest was Raymond David Ranes, my husband. If you check out the Ruth Family Tree & go to home person, then select Family Tree, then Raymond Ranes, you will be led to some of the genealogy I have. I have an excerpt from my former husband's journal written on the day his grandfather died: "This is the saddest day of my life. Today my grandfather, James Lilbert Ranes, MD, died. He was the greatest man."

My husband's grandfather was Dr. William Ranes, his brother was Lilbert Ranes, also a doctor. We never heard about the name James before so maybe not the same man. They were doctors in southern Illinois. There father was Robert Ranes. There is a connection to Clay County, Ill. and I think Lilbert was born in Louisville. If any of this sounds familiar please respond. My husband will know much more.

You are correct. He is married (Katie/Katherine), lives in the Scottsdale/Phoenix area, has a son named Steven and a daughter named Anne. He did come from Iowa and is a graduate of the University of Iowa. I can give you more information if you e-mail me.

I met a Bill Ranes of Iowa several years ago. His name was R. William Ranes, and the birth date was 1951 or there about. At that time, he lived in Phoenix/Scottsdale and his wife's name is Katie. He was from Iowa and lived on a farm. He had something like eight siblings, or so he said. I have more details on him if you would like. He has a son Steven (or Stephen) who is/was a shot-putter at the Naval Academy. Please write to my email address and I can give you the last address and email I have.

Bill Ranes of Iowa

I am trying to find Bill Ranes of Iowa, or Missouri. He was born in 1952 (approx).

Bill was a Navy Seal in Vietnam (My Tho area) in the fall of 1972. He was raised on a farm in southern Iowa or northern Missouri. He has (had?) a large family and was educated at some Big Ten school, and a law school in later years.

He would have been married in the mid-seventies and I think he lived in England for a while. Navy records on him are fairly complete but there is no current or forward address. There are two Ranes' who graduated from the Naval Academy but I do not know if they are related as they do not respond to emails inquiries.

Also, there is an uncle (?) or father (William Ranes) listed in the Korean War Memorial (died 1952) from Iowa and the family does not respond.

Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Can anyone identify this RANES family that was listed in the l880 census in Freestone Co Texas? Penalope A. (MARTIN) RANES, born Alabama in l852. Penalope married Mr RANES in Texas about l871 and a widow by l880. Children were Elles Ranes, born in Texas in 1874 (this is probably ELLEN) and Henry RANES, born in Texas in l879.

In l880 this family was living in the household of Isaac MARTIN, born l854 in Alabama....brother of Penalope. Next door were other relatives in the household of John C. BAGGETT, born in SC in l834...... came to Texas from Alabama.

I thought that info was included in the info I sent you via
snail-mail. Jennie's father's name was THOMAS RANES.
If possible, I'd like to see copies of some of Jennie's records
such as her delayed birth record which she would have had
to apply for when she reached social security age. That
document should also include her parents names.

Hello! I'm also looking for Ranes from Putnam County, Ohio. I know very little. She was born in area in 1914. Parents were John and Martha Jane Aleshire Ranes. Brother was Harvey who we think made it to St. Louis,MO and sister named Leotha. Her father worked on farm of Kimmerly's who took my mother in when her mother died.
