Ranks from Yorkshire, England

My grandfather is a Rank, born in Canada. But his fathers family is from England, in the Yorkshire region. I have hit a snag in my research. My great grandfather is John George Rank (1899-1839) he immigrated here to Canada around 1924, his father was Seth Rank (1861-?), and his father was Edward Rank (1822-1893) both from the Yorkshire region in England. This is as much information as I have been able to gather. Is there anyone that has any additional information?

thanks,

Re: Rank surname in OHIO Civil War Time

I have also recently become interested in what became of John Rank Born 1771. A farmer from Hollym Yorkshire. He married Mary Coates and according to the Rank Story in the Master Millers soon after the birth of their 3rd child - also named John Rank (the Miller and father of James Rank)- he emigrated to America with no trace thereafter. Searching on this site I was informed of links to his other children left behind behind - Seth Rank babtised 01 may 1803 in Hollym Cum Withernsea Yorkshire and Fanny Rank Babtised 29th Dec 1805 in Patrington Yorkshire. The Rank Story says the children were probably brought up by their Grandparents and the 2 daughters were generously remembered in their Grandfathers will. It was suggested that the 2 daughters helped with the care of William Rank and his wife in old age. Being a Rank descendent I am curious as to what became of Seth and Fanny Rank?
Also I wonder what became of the John Rank that went to America?

Hi, I am also looking for Rancks from White Deer, Union County, PA in early 1800s. It appears that there are only a few Rank families there. My family line is Ranck, but around 1850 the name changed from Rank to Ranck. Most of the listings in Union County in early 1800 are listed as Rank. It is likely that your Rank family and mine are related due to the few # of families living there.

I am looking for information for Jesse Rank b. abt 1811, married to Elizabeth Fisher b. abt 1814.

their children were:
Oliver Goldsmith Ranck b. abt 1837
Thaddeus Ranck b. abt 1839
Henrietta Ranck b. abt 1841
Robert Ranck b. abt 1845
Elizabeth Ranck b. abt 1849

I just came across an old posting regarding pictures of families from Pagosa Springs. My great grandmother married a man named Francis Eugene Henderson who originally was married to a woman by the name of Mary Olive Van Voast. They lived in Pagosa Springs and had two children, Francis, born about 1908 and George, born about 1911. George and Mary were divorced in 1918. Are these pictures by any chance of this family? I have no pictures of Francis Handerson.

Kathleen Leveroni

Just wanted to say hello to all the Rank's that are out there. And also wanted to know if the Oh, Pa, and Michigan reunions still exist. I think they have fadded off the map. They use to be a blast, everyone would meet each year (3rd weekend in July, I think) one year ohio, michigan, and pa. But now I believe they are extinct. Anyone?

Hi Alvin! :) LOL

Rank and Austin in Pagosa Springs

Any chance there's a Helen Austin in that line? Can you provide some more information about your Pagosa Springs Rank ancestors? I may have photos of them that I'm hoping to return to someone directly related.

The photos seem to be from the late 1800s or early 1900s and I have reason to believe these families may have lived in Pagosa Springs. One photo (labeled on back simply as "Mrs. Rank and children" includes a middle aged caucasian woman who, it appears, may have been blind in one eye; 2 girls--of much darker complexion, probably in their late teens; and 1 young boy, perhaps 8 years old or so, of much lighter complexion. The same group appears in a slightly earlier photo which also includes a man I presume is Mrs. Rank's husband (dark hair, complexion, and mustache), as well as a baby (can't tell whether male or female).

Two more photos include a youngster identified as Helen Austin. In one, she's 5 months old. In the other photo another child appears, identified as Myrtle. Myrtle's last name is provided, but I can't quite make it out. It seems have 7-9 letters and ends in "ett".

Other names in this collection of photos include VAN VOAST, HICKS, BERARD, and DAVIS.

Any of this sound familiar? Let me know.

I post obits, do volunteer census searches, etc. The Beckley surname in her obit probably somehow ties into one who descends from my Burrier line. My lines are of Carroll Co.
