Classification: Query
Surnames: RAPALJE WILKINS
Martha, Anne or Ann Rapalje, sister of your George and
dau of Garret and Helena, married (as his second wife) my
5th great grandfather, Jacob Wilkins, I believe in NYC
sometime in the 1790s, but I am having a hard time getting
firm data (although I have plenty on her father and back).
Jacob died in 1809, and Anne seems to have married a Charles
Smyth or Smith in 1810. There are references in the news-
papers to estate matters and someone named Augustus Wilkins
who is in New Orleans ca 1810. Cannot tell whether he is
Anne's child or a son of the first marriage. I have done
a lot of research on Jacob and Anne's son, States Wilkins,
a grocer on 125th St in NYC for most of 19th c, and his
descendants in Yonkers and California--if anyone is
interested.
