I may be related to this family...I have a relative, Jacob Rapp, b abt 1856, the son of Charles Rapp. They lived in Mercer, Co, PA, close to the OH line. One of the daughters in this family is Florence Rapp, born abt 1860.

You are so sweet to do this for your father. If I am related and I can assist you I would be happy to do so.

Take care.

Thank you for the reply to my posting.

Here's what I know about the Charles Rapp who served with the 4th PA Cav:

CHARLES RAUB (aka Charles Rapp) was born in France about 1835. He was described as being about 5’ 10” tall, having a dark complexion, grey eyes, and brown hair. Charles was living in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and working as a laborer upon his enlistment. He married Julia Ann Unknown and fathered two known children. Charles was living in Falls Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania in 1880. He is also found in the 1890 Veterans’ Schedule for Falls Township; a notation was made, but it is unreadable. Charles filed for a pension on April 24, 1885. His widow filed for a pension on October 29, 1896.

Raub, Charles: Enrolled on August 7, 1861; Mustered in on August 15, 1861; Mustered out with Company on July 1, 1865; Veteran

Is this your Charles?

Thanks,

Joe
morse73@ptd.net

Does Jacob Rapp, b 1802, fit anywhere in your tree?
Jacob married Diana Shaner b 1804. Jacob and Diana lived most of their life in MERCER co, PA. There was only 1 child I know of from this marriage, Charles Rapp b 1830.

I believe Diana's brother Henry, Henry b 1800, married Jacob's sister, Elizabeth Rapp. Henry and Elizabeth lived in VENANGO, co PA.

Let me know if this fits. Thanks.

They had three children, Gloria,Gladys and James. I know my grandmother was also married before and after James. I know my great grandpa died, I think it was when driving the train of appendicitis. But again, I havent been able to confirm that story. They lived in North Bergen, Carteret and someother places in New Jersy.

I know my grandmother talked of Half sibilings, but i cant remember thier names. She has sinced passed. I am trying to get a family tree out of the remaining family back east.

wow - this is strange. I never thought I would ever hear of anyone from that branch of the family. I just, on Friday, got information on Meyer's two sisters (i.e. the names of their husbands) so I can try to find out something about their family.
I only found him because of a cross reference on the first entry of a brother of my husbands grandfather who stated that he was going to Rochester to his uncle. AND when I contacted his daughter - she said that he had only good things to say about him.
Where do you live? I currently live in Israel (and have for 24 years now - along with a fair number of rapp's that are all related - most of them to his brother. My husbands great-grandfather is his half brother).
My email is rapp613@gmail.com - please write me there so we can continue our discussion.

Marsha

Hello- Marsha- I am Meyer Rapp's grandson. I was born in Rochester in 1937. My parents were Milton Rapp and Lillian Rapp. Milton was Meyer Rapp's youngest son. There were also several other siblings. I have copies of Meyer Rapp's entry papers in to Ellis Island in 1888. Meyer's papers indicate that he was born in Fulda, Germany. BTW, my family are the "Jewish Rapp's" from Rochester.

I have an older sister named Jane who now lives in Chicago.

Meyer Rapp died before i was born so, of course, I never knew him.

Milton was a dermatologist and quite prominent in Rochester. He died in 1972.

I never knew anyone related to the Rapp family except my father's brothers and sisters so I read you message with interest.

I would love to hear from you.

David M.
Charles Rapp

We here at the Buffalo Bill Historical Center in Cody, Wyoming, acquired a collection of letters in 1980 from a "Charles Rapp" to an Eva Shepard in New York--the letters dating 1875-1877. Rapp was originally from New York, but his letters are from the "Wyoming Territory" and talk about all kinds of things in our state, including mining in the South Pass area. We received the letters from a David B. Laird, Jr., who, in 1980, was the Deputy Executive Director of the Minnesota Higher Education Coordinating Board in St. Paul.

We are trying to find out some biographical info about Mr. Rapp, especially how and why he came to Wyoming. Our research library is transcribing the letters for some issues of our member magazine.

Is it possible this may be a relative? Any help would be appreciated.
Hi,
I was surfing for information on the Rapp's and found these posts. I am so excited. I descend from Philip Henry Rapp Jr and his wife Margaret Stone thru their son Frederick. I have found plenty of information, but have been stymied by any info on Frederick's wife Sarah, I have been searching for several years and seem to be running out of options.
I would be more than willing to share any information that I might have and I hope perhaps you can shed some light on Sarah.
Thanks,
T.J.
beer@infowest.com

I just stumbled on your messages. I've been working on the Rapp family also, although not at quite the depth as you. I have a question. You state that Abraham is the son of Francis and Elizabeth. Maybe I have something wrong, but I have that Francis was born in 1806 and Abraham in 1822. Is it probable that Abraham is the son of Francis? If so, Francis would have been only 16 when Abraham was born. And I have Elizabeth's DOB as 1813. I probably have something wrong somewhere and would appreciate your help. Thanks.

glad to hear from you; anything is possible, of course. we have the same dates of birth for francis, elizabeth and abraham. i have a marriage date for francis and elizabeth as being 4/24/1821. the b/d's of francis' other children are abraham (the oldest on 4/6/1822), then mary e. rapp (born c 1830); then eliza rapp (born on 9/2/1831) and lastly, george (either george o. or john george ---- have seen it both ways) (born 11/10/1835). my sources for abraham are the bucks county 1870 census; the death notice of sophia (wife of abraham); larry hillpott's website "my overpeck family line"; st. luke's ref. ch. burial records; and bucks county cemetery records.

if you see anything that shows abraham's b/d in question, please let me know. it does seem that 16 would have been very young but considering the social structure of the mid 1800's, there may have been a reason for him to marry then. i am showing his age at death being 57 on 5/4/1879, St. Luke's Church, Ferndale, New Union Cemetery.

i will be happy to share any other info with you. i have always wondered if rev. philip henry rapp had any siblings -assuming he did - but no other rapps arrived in phila. when he did (1750). i have his father as rev. godfrey rapp of alsace-lorraine, france but cannot find anything else. godfrey owned land in france at the time of son's death - have you seen anything?

I'm Not sure if I can help you or if we are even in the same branch of the tree. My Philip Henry Jr was the son of a minister Philip Henry Rapp whose life is rather well documented. Philip Jr however is a different story. Since Pastor Rapp served at several different churches Philip Jr could have been born in one of several places. I have found some conflicts and have not been able to truly verify any of them. One source states that he was born in nyc in 1758. However I am not sure that is correct because although Pastor Rapp was in NYC until 1754 he was then sent to a Germantown Pa church and remained there for several years before ending up in Nockamixon Twsp, Bucks County Pa. I Any help? I am a novice at genealogy so All of this may be info that you already have.
I dont know anything about Abraham Rapp, so we might be headed in opposite directions. Let me know.
Melissa
Hi TJ. I don't have any info on Sarah yet. I have been researching Philip Henry and Margaret's son Philip who is part of my direct line. I have however found the property which belonged to Rev Philip Henry in Nockamixon Twsp and my brother and I have just days ago actually found
Rev Rapp's gravesite which is is far off the beaten path in a densely wooded area on what was at the time of his death his 100 acre property. It was very excting! I am lucky in that I live only about 15 minutes from the area. Do you know where Frederick was buried? I dont know where you are located, but if I can help you search let me know. I am planning to go to Doylestown, Pa this Friday, May 22nd. I will be searching records for info about the family while they lived in Bucks county, Pa. E-mail me at melissa33333@hotmail.com.
Cindy Any info you might have on George RAPP would be appreciated. Mine is somehow linked to Father RAPP of the Harmonites (distant nephew?), but have been unable to make a connection or find a birthplace in Wurttemberg, Germany. One big brick wall when I get to Germany!
