Classification: Query
Surnames: Rappaport, Shapiro, Shapero, Nichols,

I am looking for descendants for Julius Rappaport, Harry Rappaport, Sarah Rappaport and Libby Rappaport (all siblings).

Libby Rappaport was born after 1860, immigrated to USA before 1882 was married to Isaac Shapiro about 1882. Libby had 5 children. Mollie, Charles, Leah, William and the youngest Sarah, died young. Libby died of an appendicitis about 1894, when the doctor arrived Libby was in acute pain. Surgery was attempted on the dining table but she didn't survive. The small children supposedly witnessed all this. Isaac was a fish dealer was left to care for 5 children. He remarried quickly. The step mother was a widow with children of her own. 1900 census shows Isaac, Lena(step mother) and both sets of children. At some point Libby's children were farmed out to relatives in Norfolk.

Julius Rappaport was married to Yetta and lived in Philadelphia.

Harry Rappaport lived in Norfolk, the Libby's children were sent there. The two boys (Charles and William) hated it and ran away back to Philadelphia, where they found jobs as in the garment industry (circa 1901-1905).

Sarah Rappaport married a pharmacist in Philadelphia name Louis Nichols. Their drug store was on Broad Street. They had 5 children, all became pharmacists or doctors. Harold, Jay, Molly, Leah and another son.

There may have 5th Rappaport sibling, a girl.

I am looking for any information on parents of these siblings. Were parents in USA or did only siblings immigrate. If siblings came over were they together or individuals. Where might they have arrived, and on what ship.

I would also be interested in location of the grave sites, often the stone will have hebrew names of parent or parents.

Tim Fauber.
