Hmmm I thought Mary was Rasberry's first wife.?

Here's my family line:
Rasberry Lucas > William Berry Lucas > Green C. Lucas > Odell Lucas > Susan Lucas-Cobb.

Would love to confirm that Mary's maiden name was Creech, as I can't confirm my grandfather's middle name. My grandmother who has nearly 40 years younger than my grandfather (yeah there's a good story there as well) said that the C in Green C. Lucas stood for Creech which was his mother's maiden name. Not correct, as his mother's maiden name was Marcum. My uncle insists that the C was for Christopher. I can't imagine someone from the south in 1855 giving a boy the middle name of Christopher, but I could be wrong.

Haven't had time to work on this like I would like to, but retiring at the end of the year and looking forward to diving in!

I'm sorry I have no info about who Rasberry's daughter married, but I can tell you that Nancy's mother was Mary Creech, Rasberry's second wife. I have Nancy b.1820 Lee Co. VA and d.December 6, 1871, but no other information. I hope that clears up the Creech thing for you. I am Rasberry's decendant also by Mary Creech their son Ira K., then Robert Lee his only son by his second wife Catherine Olinger, then Olen Pridemore Lucas was my grandad. My dad is his only child Bobby Lee Lucas. So I'm Nancy Lucas's cousin.
I'm just getting around to reading all the old threads and I agree with you on Pleasant being Rasberry's youngest son. Im still beating my head against the brick wall of who really were Rasberry's parents, and keep in touch with cousin Mick Korelc who is still doing the same. I am your cousin by Rasberry's son Ira K. whose 2nd wife Catherine Olinger begat Robert Lee Lucas and his only son Olen Pridemore Lucas was my grandad, then my Dad is Bobby Lee Lucas. Have you gotten any more provable information past Rasberry? I had Dad's DNA done and their Lucas DNA surname project mentions that one of the Lost Colonists of Jamestown was a WILLIAM LUCAS. I met someone at a Genealogy workshop yesterday who knows an older lady that is the Oklahoma expert on the Lost Colonists, so she is going to try to get her to contact me. I'm wishing for the best. I'd love to get your family branches info if you'd let me.

Hi, How did you get a Rasberry book by Edna Monnette Rasberry Burtis? I have researched the book stores and they do not have it, and most of the libraries do not have it, and when they do their hundreds of miles away, or you can not check it out. My grandfather was George Washington Rasberry and my grandmother was Myrtle Tims, the daughter of Harvey Bogard Tims. I have been trying to find the siblings of George Washington Rasberry. Does the Rasberry book tell you anything about my ancestors? Thank you very much. Phyllis

hi alta, i am saying hb tims and first wife (?)had 5 daughters, then was widowed (according to the 1900 census), ( i figure that his first wife died somewhere between 1897 and 1900). jewel was born 1889, dora in 1890,myrtle in 1891m, we think grandmother fibbed about her age, her tombstone says 1890),rebecca in 1894, eliza in 1897. hb tims then married susie worthy, for about a year. susie had 2 sons already, robert and john and then she had a baby daughter named alva, with hb, which came to dallas texas with hb tims and the 5 daughters. susie went on to marry a man named leslie (john) i believe. alva then became a cartwright, i do not remember any male cartwright. she had a daughter named susie. she lives in carrollton, texas i believe. the daughters did not care for alva and in my grandmothers obit(myrtle), susie worthy was named as her mother, which was totally wrong (i think). stay in touch phyllis

We are the same age, I was born in Dallas, June 16, 1949. I also have a twin sister, Velta Rae. I enjoy the challenge of genealogy. I looked on ancestry and saw that Green Rasberry was born in AL in 1840. On the 1900 AL census, he is in Chilton Co., AL. He may not have gone to AR, but came to Texas from AL.

Alta

hi alta, i started out looking in georgia for harvey b's parents because that is what the census said. but i found harvey in alabama, but the census said widowed, so i started looking in the death notices for his first wife because he had 5 daughters all in alabama, . (someone was there)i figured between 1879 and 1900, well susie worthy showed up and her 2 boys were on the census (john &robert) and they were listed as stepsons . my parents were albert benjamin weldon, he died june of 1996, my mother is still living her name is lovie jane rasberry weldon. my grandmother was myrtle tims rasberry (she raised me, we lived next door to her )and my grandfather was george washington (some say Washington and some say William)(i want to see a birth certificate) rasberry. their both buried in keenan cemetery next to each other. later on susie worthy had alva when she was still with h.b. which is in the census.she married a leslie, so her name was susie worthy, susie rasberry, and susie leslie. alva could not have been anything other than a step sister, unless there is something i don't know, or could she have been?? i think you are right about they knew each other and then they moved here to farmers branch, texas. my grandmothers tombstone says she was born oct 14, 1890, but the census says nov, 1981, and then i think, who knows what happened back then. in the end i would love to know who his first wife was. i hope i answered your question. if you have any more please ask. i like researching this.

On the 1900 census of Harvey's family, Harvey is wrong about his parents being born in GA. Both his parents were born in AL.
Phyllis, who were your parents and grandparents?
Alva Tims' mother, Susie, is listed in Myrtle's death notice on the Keenan Cemetery website as, stepmother, Susie Smith of Pasadena. This was in 1981.
I noticed on the 1920 Tarrant Co Census, my Wm Tims & family and Alva's mother & stepfather & family living next to each other. They must have farmed together.
Alta

hi, regarding the tims family, i have that harvey bogard tims came from alabama. he had five daughters, dora, jewel, myrtle, rececca and elisa in lonoke arkansas (1900 census) i know that this is true because my aunt rebecca and my grandmother myrtle rasberry lived next door and are buried in the keenan cemetery in farmers branch texas. i was up there this last sunday and took pictures of some of the tombstones. h b tims is also buried there 5/6/1864-3/22/1912. george william rasberry is buried next to my grandmother rasberry. george was born 1882-1952, grandmother was born (on the tombstone)1890 (we think she fibbed because the census says 1891) and she died 1981. grandmother rasberry had 3 children, jane, mary and ottis (hopper). Mary and Ottis have passed .jewel b.1889, dora b 1890,rebecca 1894, eliza (lizzie) 1897. aunt becky married a marcom (uncle balam)and had about 4 boys (need to check on that)roy, jess is all i can remember right now.h b tims was married twice. his first wife passed away i figure between 1897-1900. he remarried susie worthy who had 2 boys john and robert.

Hello, 22 January 2010

I just ran across this message board.

There has been some very interesting
reading here.

Most of the focus seems to be on
Rasberrys who left North Carolina.

I have information about my
great Granddaddy, a picture of
his death certificate; where his
father, William Warren Rasberry,
born in Whiteville, NC is listed.

Also I have a picture of his wife's
death certificate, listing their
children born in Durham, NC.

I have other information that his
father? was born around 1805 also in
Whiteville, North Carolina.

Many thanks,
kerasberry@yahoo.com

Sam,

I am from the line of John Rasberry. I am a direct decendant of Joseph Rasberry, John Son.

I have not been able to connect where he lived other than knowing he said on the ship in the early 1600 and married Bridget Brown from Va.

They lived in Greene Co. NC.

Perhaps we could share info if we are both connnected to the same John. There were 3 of them that sailed at different times .

Judi Gettier
