My family originated in Czarnicow near poznan. No Ratajczaks around the world (even Poznan) seem to be related to anyone which to me seems really odd. Czarnicow was a small farming community and i have records from my great grandparents through grandparents to their children - one of which was my father. I have tried looking for Christian names similar to my father's siblings in case future generations have used any in remembrance but most of the names which show up do not necessarily seem Polish at all. It is all very frustrating. My grandparents are registered in the births register of their local church less than ten numbers apart which is why I figure the communities were small and people married partners they had grown up with. Just in case you have come across any connection to the Czarnicow village, I thought I would make contact with you. I thought i was the only surviving Ratajczak until I put the name into Facebook and then over 500 were in front of me! I am in touch with some of them but none of our lineage seems to match. However we have been writing for so long now that the mere fact that we are all Ratajczaks has kept us together as firm friends. I have digressed! I seem to remember my father saying that his sister Victoria had a daughter called Christine and that she married into the Skoda (spelling unsure of) family. My records date back to 1870's. My dad was born in 1909 and had 11 siblings. Other than names on a piece of paper I know nothing of my family except that some fled to West Germany either during or just after the war (WW2) though I think it would have been after. I was an only child and have one child of my own and we are the last of our side of the Ratajczaks. I have no relatives other than my son and so it would be nice for me just to know that somewhere in the world there may be someone wondering what happened to my dad and if he had any offspring to name Ratajczak. I will keep you in mind as I trawl various records and if I think anything may be of interest to you I will pass on the details. Thank you for reading my reply. Caroline
