My father was a Ratajczak from Poland which makes me a Ratajczak too. It seems incredible that there are so many R's around and none are related to the other. Very frustrating. Other than my son I have no relatives and it would be so nice to just know someone is out there, possibly even looking for my dad, but especially so that I can create a family tree for my son. I have records going back to around 1870 with birthdates and registry numbers in the local church from great grandparents, grandparents and my father's siblings but these all took place in a village called Czarnicow near Poznan and so I do not think we are close to being related. But who knows. But, you ask a question or at least seem mystified by the fact that there were name changes. I can maybe offer an explanation for this if you are interested. I will not post my thoughts just now in case you are no longer wondering. Let me know. Caroline Ratajczak
