Does anyone know why James Hash b.1820 and Mary Polly Ratliff divorced about 1866? I do know James Hash was in the Civil War starting in 1861 and the family increased by 2 more boys during the war somehow, does anyone know if James got furloughs to visit home during the war to father the last 2 boys in the family or if that's the reason he and Mary divorced right after the war? (Maybe she stepped out on James while he was gone to war?) Does anyone know the story behind all this? Does anyone know if Mary remarried? I do know that she was killed in 1900 in a train wreck coming to Texas to visit Sarah Jane Hash Myers, her daughter, as well as some of her sons and daughters who lived NW of Pottsboro, Grayson county Texas and in Vernon TX.
I am a Hash descendant through my maternal great great grandmother Sarah Jane Hash Myers, daughter of James Hash and Mary Polly Ratliff. Contact me back and we can exchange info, I have quite a bit on the Texas Hash family of which I am part. Natalie Bauman
