Jack W. Ratliff
Jack was born at his maternal grandparents' home near Dragoon, Arizona on September 25, 1924. He passed away quietly at his home on Frontier Road on July 5, 2003. He had been in failing health since he suffered a stroke in September 1999.
Jack was preceded in death by his father, Charles Ratliff; mother, Mabel Ratliff; his sister, Arlene McGrady; and infant son, Ronald Wayne. He is survived by Wilma, his wife of 52 years; four sons, Randy (Alice), Jerry (fiance, Danette), Tracy (Marty), and Terry (Sandra); six grandsons, Chris (Sara), Lincoln (Bernie), Casey (Darla), Mark (fiance, Mary), Tim, and Noah Ratliff; one granddaughter, Hannah Ratliff; and three great-grandchildren, Caitlyn, Andrea, and Daniella.
Jack was inducted into the Army immediately upon his graduation from Bisbee High School, and served with the Field Artillery in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was a Civil Service employee in the Maintenance Division of Fort Huachuca from May 1951 until his retirement in February 1982. He was baptized and became a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Sunset Acres, Bisbee, Arizona, on May 14, 1967, and was a member until his death. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and will be sorely missed.
Services will be held at Hope Lutheran Church, Bisbee, Arizona, at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 11, 2003. Rev. Arlo Janssen will officiate. Burial with full military honors will follow at 1:00 p.m. at The Southern Arizona Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, 1300 Buffalo Soldier Trail, Sierra Vista, Arizona. All arrangements are being handled by Dugan Funeral Chapel, Bisbee, Arizona, 520/432-4242.
