My relatives came from Carrara or Massa-Carrara, Italy and went to Rutland Vermont region. They were all marble workers by trade. Carrara isn't far from Genoa...any relations do you think?
Maurezio, Bernardo and Umberto Ravenna - parents were Eumene Ravenna and Aurora Bertela. Eumene parents were Bernardo Ravenna and Maria Raggi
Let me know if you think there is a connection . Cathy

Ravenna Surname

Hi, thanks so much for responding. My grandfather's family was from Carrera. I have a ship manifest showing my great-grandmother immigrating with the two oldest children, My grandfather was not born yet. However, listed on the same manifest was an Umberto Ravenna who was her(My great-grandmother) brother-in-law. I will try to find the person you mentioned looking for Umberto's relatives.

This is what I have in case there is a connection between your family and mine:
My grandfather, Albert Ravenna was born in Center Rutland, Vt on 11/27/27. His father was Maurezio Ravenna, born about 5/1874 in Carerra Italy. He died 12/28/1954 in NY. He has 2 brothers that I am aware of:Bernardo (Walter) and Umberto. Umberto immigrated with Maurezio's wife and two children that I mentioned above. My great grandmother was Amabili Salvatore, also from Carrera, Italy. They immigrated on the SS Lahn, sailing from Genova on 10/11?/1902 arriving NY 10/27/02.
Most of the Ravenna's lived in Rutland VT, then moving to the Ravenswood section of Queens, NY.
If any of this is of importance to you please contact me again and I will give you more info. Where did your family end up? NY? Thanks again. Cathy
