Newly discovered church document information shows that Johann David Rawe was born in Prussia, Pommern, in the Ball/Rehwinkel area 4 Dec 1847. His parents were Johan David Rawe b. abt 1816, and Dorothea Luisa Bork b. 20 Apr 1823. Dorothea Luisa Bork's parents were Philipp Bork b. abt 1784 & Dorothea Sophia Succows. I would love to hear from anyone also researching this family.

Steve Rawe from Arizona,

I found out that the name "Raw" means common
laborer in 12th century Old English.
The reason I thought you might be related is
because my great-grandfather's name was David Raw. He was born on Oct. 22, 1848.
He lived at Bullyhill near Franklin, Pa.
He had five brothers and sisters.

My great-great-grandfather was Robert Raw and he was born in Leeds, England in 1816.
He died in the U.S. in 1882.
My family does not know any other information
about him. We don't know how many brothers
and sisters he had. So if you think we might
be connected then please reply.

Sorry, I am not Steve Rawe from Texas. I am from Arizona. As far as I know we have always had our name spelled RAWE. Most of my family originated in Kentucky.

your cousin from West Virginia. Grace Rawe
added the "e" to our name, so if you are searching then spell the name - "Raw".
T. Matthews has the geneology list that his mother and Aunt Dorothoy worked on. Please contact me as I am interesting in finding out more.

New information shows Johann David Rawe's
wife was Minnie Sliefert, and her mother was
Johanna Sliefert. Minnie had two brothers
(William and August) and three sisters
(Louise, Amelia, and unknown name). The
family arrived USA sometime around 1876.

Steve, John David Rawe was b. 4 Dec 1847 in Germany, died 2 May 1924 near Cabot, Arkansas. He sailed from the German port of Bremen on the ship Mosel, and arrived in New York on 9 May 1874. He applied for citizenship in Chicago, received it 5 years later in Iowa, moved to Nebraska for several years, then bought a farm and settled near Cabot, Arkansas, in 1912. Wife Minnie Ruth Sliefert, b. 14 Dec 1857 in Germany, d 13 Dec 1931, Cabot, Arkansas. They are buried at the Old Austin Cemetery. They are my great-grandparents, and I have been unable to learn anything else of their origins or even their parent's names. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
