My maternal great grandfather, Matteo Siano (1858-1943), and my maternal great grandmother, Luisa Raino (1858-1910) immigrated to America in 1892 from the small town of Sarno, Salerno province in the Campania region of Italy. They lived in Springfield, Mass. Their son (my grandfather), Luigi Siano (1889-1983), married Nicoletta Papaceno (1894-1946) and lived in Springfield. Their daughter (my mother), Louise Siano (1914-1987) was my mother.

I have other information on aunts and uncles, but very little information on my grandparents/great grandparents siblings/parents, etc.

If this is any help, or if you have any questions, please let me know.

THANK YOU! I think you have made my confusion a little less. I did not know which Alex was her father. The dates were a great help. This has been a great help to me. I know that they came down from Canada, but have nothing on that.
I will go through what I have and try to straighten it out. I would be greatly interested in anything else that you might want to share.
Again, thank you very much for the help. I appreciate it.
Joyce

Raino family tree

Thanks for the reply. As I mentioned, the next step in my research is to return to Italy, figuratively, of course, although I do hope to travel there soon to find out more about the Siano/DiSanti families.
I might mention that I do live very close to Washington, D.C., and I frequently go to the National Archives to view records. So, If I can be of assistance in any way, please let me know.
If I find out any more about the Raino family, I'll contact you.

The only info I have on Salvatore Raino was found on my mother's birth certificate. He was born in Italy in 1890, immigrated to USA and was a barber at 355 Main St, Hartford, CT in 1930. He is listed as my mother's father on the birth certificate. My mother's mother was Angelina Parisi. If you know or find anything else about my grandfather Salvatore, please let me know.

Raino

I am in the process of tracing my family's roots (DiSanti & Siano). My maternal great-grandfather, Mateo Siano, emigrated to this country from Salerno, Province of Campania, in Italy. He arrived in this country around 1892 and settled in Springfield, Mass. His wife's name was Maria Raino. At this point in my research, I have no other information on the Raino side of the family, but my next step will be to explore the family's history in Italy. Do you have any more information on Salvatore Raino?

Hello - I was reading your messages with interest. I, too, have some information dating back to the 1600's for the Rayno/Renard/Renaud family. I am a descendent of Peter Rayno who I believe was Alexander's brother. Would you be interested in sharing the information that you have? I will share mine and hopefully we can fill in each other's gaps.
