In all likelihood there is not connection. Just in case, I will share it.

My grandfather was named Bernard Scott Reardon. He was given the name Scott after his mother's side of the family. I can not tell you her maiden name but the Scott name came from her side, therefore likely her maiden name or her mother's. We have records, but I've not checked them.

My grandfather was born in rural Illinois, his father farmed, when sit a young boy the family moved to Tonginoxie, KS, just outside Kansas City. The family continued to farm.

My grandfather's fathers given name was Thomas. The family is under the general impression that his ancestors came over during the earlier Irish potato famine. Another ancestor, Neil Reardon, has written a book on the family history, a copy of which my mother (my father is deceased) has. I was told that a least one relative fought in the Civil War. Neil, himself had attended Harvard.

Let me know if there are particular pieces of information that could be relivant to your search and I will do what I can to respond.
