Hi. I'm looking for the Reardon family that lived in Holyoke Mass. They were somehow related to my grandmother.. Mary Driscoll. The first names I remember are Kate and another older women we called Cousin Mary. I have a picture of both Marys together and it looks as though they were close. Another name from Mass. is Cronin, first name John. My grandmother was from county Cork Ireland and lived in Buffalo New York. She married Michael Gruber. and died in 1961. Any info is appreciated. Thanks. Sally Robson Loeb

obit for Homer G. Reardon, born 1889, died 1943 Kansas

Minneapolis Messenger, Ottawa County, Kansas, March 18, 1943, page 2:
HOMER G. REARDON
Homer Gatchel Reardon, son of Albert P. and Mary Gatchel Reardon, was born at McLouth, Kansas, December 2, 1889, and passed away suddenly at Beloit, Kansas, on March 11, 1943, at the age of 53 years, 3 months, and 9 days.
Mr. Reardon youth was spent at McLouth, where he finished his early schooling. His college work was taken at Baker University. He was employed for one year by the Santa Fe Railroad Company, and following this he was associated with the Fleming & Wilson Wholesale Grocery Company at Topeka, Kansas, where he remained for more than twenty years, until his retirement on December 1, 1942, retaining however, his affiliation with the company until the day of his death.
On September 1, 1909, he was married to Gertrude McAftery, and to this union were born three children; Elton, who died in infancy; Genevieve and Eric. In 1936 the mother passed away. The family had moved to Minneapolis in 1925, Mr. Reardon carrying on his work with the wholesale house from this city. The family had become an integral part of the community and continued to reside here.
On July 25, 1937, Mr. Reardon married Mrs. Beryl Altman Knoch, who survives him, as do also Mrs. Genevieve Parsons and Eric Reardon, both of Wichita, Kansas, and Mrs. Virginia Anderson, his step-daughter, whom he loved as his own, of San Antonio, Texas. There is also his dearly beloved granddaughter, Stephanie Ann, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eric Reardon.
Mr. Reardon was a member of the Presbyterian church, and had been a Mason for over 25 years.
When he retired from the Fleming & Wilson Company, his health was not good, and yet with this handicap he had been enjoying the privileges of his church and the community in a richer way than had been his opportunity to do until that time. Of the kindliest of natures, he was loved by children and adults alike. His last service was to drive for the boys of the basketball squad. His place will be missed, not only in the home where his love had been so well known through the years, but in the whole radius of his activities and acquaintance.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 Monday afternoon at the R.S. Todd Funeral Home, with Rev. K.L. Hubler of the Presbyterian church in charge. Music was furnished by a boys quartet from the high school, with Miss Dorothy Schwartzkopf as accompanist. The body was taken to McLouth where services were held at the Methodist church, with burial in the McLouth cemetery.

If I have the right one it looks like your Dennis is married to a Bridget and his mother in law is living with them. Her name is Johanna Collins so Bridget may be a Collins.
I am also tracking a William Reardon from Cork to Wales. He wound up in Merthyr Tydfil Wales and married a Mary Collins. My William had father Timothy. You are lucky to have Rostellan as a place to start looking. I am lost as to where to start. Joan

obit - Walter F. REARDON

not related - for board info

Reardon, Walter F.

May 12, 2009 longtime resident of Upland, California, passed away peacefully May 12th in Maui after suffering a stroke while vacationing with his loving wife, Pat, their youngest daughter, Kathleen and granddaughter, Alex. Walt, also known to many as "Bud," was born October 3, 1931. The only child of Walter and Elizabeth "Lila" Reardon, he was a native of Lynn, Massachusetts, moving with his parents to Los Angeles during the 1930's. He married his high school sweetheart in 1951, later was activated from the US Naval Reserve to be stationed in Kodiak, Alaska. After his military service he graduated from UCLA with a degree in Accounting, later earning his CPA certificate and eventually received an MBA from The Drucker School of Management at Claremont Graduate University. After residing in Temple City he and his growing family settled in Upland, California in 1967. Rising through a variety of accounting positions, he taught Accounting classes at Citrus and Chaffey Colleges before founding his own CPA firm in Upland in 1971. While actively involved in the California CPA Society, his firm grew prominently within the Inland Empire to become Reardon & McCallum, and later merged into the regional firm of Mellon, Johnson and Reardon. Walt served on numerous boards. He was a former Chairman and longtime member of the San Antonio Community Hospital Foundation Board of Directors in Upland. He also held the elected position of Upland City Treasurer for 28 years, until stepping down last November, as the longest elected city official to serve the City of Upland. Loved by all who know him, and a confidant to many, he was truly a Renaissance Man - an accomplished leader, with an avocation for reading and learning new things, an adventurous world traveler, an experienced sailor, golfer, UCLA Bruin fan and a longtime jogger and walker along Euclid Avenue. In addition to his beloved wife of 57 years, "Dad" a.k.a. "Papa" is survived and loved by six children and thirteen grandchildren. His children are: Michael (Cathy) of Lake Forest, IL; William "Bill" (Pam) of Upland, CA; Mary (Forrest) Fleming of Santa Barbara, CA; Tricia (Ray) Krakowski of Ventura, CA; David (Stephanie) of Alta Loma, CA; Kathleen of Summerland, CA. His grandchildren are: Laura (Mike & Cathy), Kimberly, Kelly, Bobby (Bill & Pam), Joe, Scott, Maddi (Mary & Forrest), Devon, Krista, Michelle (Tricia & Ray), Kevin, Cory (David & Stephanie), Alexandra (Kathleen). In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that contributions be made to the San Antonio Community Hospital Foundation (999 San Bernardino Rd. Upland, CA 91786, (909) 920-4962) in the honor of Walter F. Reardon. "...And until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand."
Published in the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin on 5/20/2009
Have you ever had any information on Michael Henry Reardon born 1804 in Killarney, Ireland. He was married once, but I don't know to whom as he had sons Michael b. 1831 and Henry b. 1832 in Tralee. Then he married Sarah C. Dyer 14 Feb 1833 in Cork. They had Wm, Margaret, Jane, Elizabeth in Ireland and then Sarah March 1843 in England. Then they came to the US in Sept 1843. Michael was a Young Irelander and had to flee. I can't find any information on the family there. A sister, Ellen, married James MacGillycuddy. Some of her descendants went to New Zealand.

Hi, Ladybugmullen

Get a load of this: My grandfather was John Reardon. My grandmother was Helen (Mullen) Reardon. He was born in England; she in U.S.A. I thought it a bit strange that your last name is probably Mullen and that you are looking for a Reardon!

John and Helen seperated when my Dad was about 12 years old. I have the only picture of them standing on a house porch located at 827 Valle Vista Ave., PITTSBURGH PA around 1926.

Helen was born 03/23/1898 in the U.S. with Irish heritage and she had a sister named Catherine. Catherine Mullen married Ryan. This would be the same Ryan that started "Ryan Homes." I never met John and don't have his age and don't know if he had any brothers/sisters. John died around 1955, give or take a few years. I just remember no one went to his funeral.

I have since found out that Timothy Reardon and Cora Crouse
Reardon had 7 children: Helen, Mary, Francis, John, James,Lewis and baby Judson who died in infancy. Either Mary, John or James had descendants who moved to Australia for a while. I believe one of siblings lived in New York, perhaps John. My Uncle Francis never married but used to visit a niece or nephew in New Orleans in the 1950's. Timothy Reardon's parents were John ( b. 1810 in Ireland) and Mary (b. 1834 in Ireland). Timothy had two sisters Mary (b. 1858 in Maine) and Ellen (b. 1861 in Maine). Would appreciate any help in locating any descendants.
In 1942 Lewis lived in Far Rockaway, NY had a son John Austin Reardon born abt 1925 in NY

Just last night, I figured out I was Callie's 2nd cousin and wrote her a postal letter to Rockport, Texas (not sure if correct address!)explaining all. I also do not know what her e-mail address is because what I had was returned. I would love anything that you have on Matilda or Peter Sutton's family. My e-mail address is austinea@swbell.net and my postal address is 6403 Copperlily Cove, Austin, Texas 78759.

Charlotte Rardin (the most common spelling) was the daughter of Samuel and Charlotte Charity (Harrington) Rardin. My gg-grandfather John Rardin is a brother of Charlotte. Charlotte Charity died in childbirth and Samuel named is infant daughter after her mother. Samuel did not raise Charlotte and left her in the care of a family by the name of Lowe. Samuel moved first to Ohio where he married a second time to Mrs. Melinda LaMire (Fairbanks) Simpson, a young widow with 2 daughters. Samuel and Melinda had 5 children. When the children were still small they moved to Indiana where Melinda died. Samuel later moved to Minnesota and married a third time to Mrs. Anna Palmer. Samuel died in Minnesota in 1890. I have been working on the descendants of Samuel Rardin and have a bit of information and research. I have lately been researching Peter and Charlotte. West Virginia and Texas both are fairly easy to research. I would love to share information and photos Of their children found in census, I have not been able to find anything on Rosa and very little on William and George.

Thank you,
Deborah Brushaber

Elaine, Thank you for your post. We are indeed on the same page. I am willing to share any information I have if you are interested. I have been researching the descendants of Samuel Rardin in which Charlotte is his daughter from his first marriage to Chatlotte Charity Harrington. Samuel had 4 children by Charlotte Charity and 5 children by his second wife, Melinda Lamira Fairbanks. I have information on all but one child who I believe died in Indiana in her early 20's and never married.

I just received a photo of Matilda and Joseph Pratt from Callie in Texas. She is descended through Josephine Pratt and Robert Green Newman"s son Alonzo Pratt. How are you related? I am related through John Rardin who is a son of Samuel and Charlotte Charity and sister to Charlotte Sutton.

Hope to hear from you, Deborah Brushaber

I have Reirdon's in PA back in the 1870's but they are from the Scranton area. My GG-grandfather is Dennis Reirdon married to Helen. I don't think they are the same but who knows. Go to the link below to see the info:

http://trees.ancestry.com/pt/person.aspx?tid=2718574&pid...

Mary Reirdon and John Cantwell, Long Island, NY, USA

I am looking for information on my husband's Great Great Grandparents Mary REIRDON (as spelt on her only son's Marriage Certificate) and John CANTWELL. Mary was born around 1832 and John 1827. Nothing is known of their life or families in New York and do not know if they were born in Ireland or the US.

Mary and John also had a daughter Catherine who died in the US as well. Mary and son William immigrated to Victoria, Australia, after her daughter Catherine and then John died (Long island 1856/7). Haven't even found which ship she arrived on but it would have been late 1857 or early 1858.

As far as it is known, Mary did not marry again and had no more children. William had 15 children with 13 surviving.

It has been difficult trying to find information on them not knowing which country they were born in.
Re: WALTER REARDON

Peter,

I just read your post. I'm sorry but my family info does not match your family info. My great grandfather Walter Murray Reardon was the son of John E. Reardon and Nellie E. of Lynn, Massachusetts. He had many siblings including Laura, Helen, Annie, Frederick, Timothy and Madeline. Best of luck in your research!! I'm still working on my Reardon line too. I'll keep in touch if I come along anymore info on your family line as well.

~Meghan
