Looking for info on the family of Johannes Reber (b. ? d. abt 1800). Was son of Johannes Reber and Maria Magdalena of York Co. The younger Johannes was married to Maria Catharina Rudisill in York Co. ca 1760. Found 5 children in the family: Maria Elizabetha (ca. 1761) - Christina (ca. 1765) - Susanna (ca. 1776) - Jonas (ca. 1776) - Henry (ca 1779).

I am searching for information about the youngest son Henry Reber. Anyone have info as to whom he married, children, and what may have happened to him?

I'm trying to find a possible connection to my g-g-g-g-grandfather Henry Ravert, who was born btwn 1770-1780 and was known to have been from York County. He went to Stark County, Ohio about 1815. His surname was generally spelled Raber or Raver until about the 1840s, then it changed to Ravert.

Thanks!
Colonel Samuel Reber - 1st Chief of Military Aviation

The Signal Corps Spreads Its Wings
On 18 July 1914 Congress passed legislation creating the Aviation Section of the Signal Corps, to consist of up to 60 officers and 260 enlisted men. These men would serve in addition to the Corps' existing authorized strength. For the first time, the Army had soldiers permanently assigned to aviation duties. The act limited aviation officers, however, to unmarried lieutenants no older than thirty.

The section's responsibilities included:
operating or supervising the operation of all military air craft, including balloons and aeroplanes, all appliances pertaining to said craft, and signaling apparatus of any kind when installed on said craft; also with the duty of training officers and enlisted men in matters pertaining to military aviation.

Lt. Col. Samuel Reber headed the new section. The Aeronautical Division, meanwhile, continued in existence as the Washington office of the section. As for budget matters, Congress had specified in previous legislation that up to one-half of the Signal Corps' appropriation of $500,000 could be spent on aviation-related items.
The retention of aviation within the Signal Corps indicated that Congress held the prevailing opinion that aviation served a support, rather than a combat, function.
Amelia Reber

I am looking for an Amelia Reber (Reiber?) who was born in Germany. She married a man with the last name Becker. They had at least two children, a son and a daughter (Bertha). The son had a daughter who he also named Bertha who married a man with the last name Otto.
Amelia's daughter was born in Missouri around 1854. The family is rumored to have lived in Chicago during the fire (1871).
Later Amelia moved to New York City where she met and married a man named Michael Kuntz, who may have owned a brewery.
I can find no records for Amelia anywhere. Does anyone have any clues?

Thanks,
Barb

I am looking for info on Ludwig "Louis" Reber and his family. I know that he had 9 children between1868-1886. Six were born in Switzerland, with the last 3 born in Missouri. Can you help me find out where in Switzerland the 6 were born? On death cert. most say Bern or Berne, but that's doesn't narrow it down. I also wonder is anyone has info on Louis's wife, Charlotte Graff/Gore/Garoud. Death cert. have many different spellings and even different names. I know that Charlotte had to be alive in the U.S. since 3 children were born here. Any help is appreciated.

Reber Automobile

The model 1900 Reber Automobile was built by JAMES CALVIN REBER, owner of the Acme Motor Company. James (one of the Langenselbold Reber descendants) was born 22 Jun 1868 in Reading, Berks, Pa., and died About 18 Dec 1933 in Reading, Berks, Pa; he is buried in the Charles Evans Cemetery, Reading, Pa.

The Reber Automobile is owned by the Reynolds Museum, Alberta, Canada.

The car has some interesting features including a 2-cycle engine and a planetary transmission. Henry Ford was reportedly fascinated by the transmission and used that design for his first car in 1902 and all of the Fords built through 1927. In 1947 the Ford Museum tried to buy the Reber car because of its historical significance but the then owner wouldn't sell.

I have a Barbara Reberr who m. my George Rhodes in old Bedford Co., PA . She was b. ca 1782 and m. ca. 1810. They then moved to Stark Co., OH (Canton area) in 1813. Have been trying to trace her parents. There were two Reber guys IN Bedford Co. in the right time frame. Frederick moved on to Fairfield Co., OH, and is not the father of Barbara (not mentioned in his will). I have not been able to find anything on Michael Reber who shows in the tax lists of Bethel Twp., Bedford Co. in the years 1796-1806. Any thought on his family?

Does anyone have any info on a Fredk REBER and his wife who arrived on the Brig Johanna Catharine that arrived in the District of Mississippi / Port of New Orleans in 1820? The manifest states that Fredk* REBER was 43 (making his birth date 1777) and a carver from Germany. He arrived with his wife but it doesn't list he had any children with him although his wife was pregnant with the ancestor I am searching for Sophia. She was born in Louisiana although family lore says Germany. I cannot find any other info on these REBER's after their arrival in the States. Thanks in advance for any replies. Lisa

Hannah's headstone in the Old IOOF Cemetery was destroyed by vandals and was replaced by her descendants.
This photo is of the tombstone of Benjamin Reber and his wife Susanna Kemmerer. It is located at Zeigler Cemetery, Pleasant Twp., Fairfield Co., OH.

(If you are reading this message on the Reber List, click on the gatewayed URL to view the photo.)

The tombstone reads:
Benj. Reber 1792-1851
Susan Reber 1797-1845

Note that the years of birth for both Benjamin and Susan are off by one year. This tombstone is a replacement. I wonder if perhaps the original gave only their dates of death & ages at death and their years of birth were miscalculated when the new stone was made.

Benjamin Reber was born 29 Dec 1791, Berks Co., PA, the son of Johannes Reber (1758-1836) & Catharina Schmitt.

Susan (Susanna on her baptismal record) was born 26 Aug 1796, the daughter of J. Philip Kemmerer & Rosina Heil.

Benjamin's lineage traces back:
Benjamin Reber
s/o Johannes Reber (1758-1836) & Catharina Schmitt
s/o J.
Reber/Raber DNA project

Our DNA project is growing, and the DNA pages on our website are beginning to take shape. At the moment, we have ten profiles posted; and by the end of the year, there will be some 10-11 more. There's still a lot of work to be done to get the presentations into polished form, but we're getting there. The URL is http://www.family.reber.org/ , so check back often to learn the latest.

We're using two labs for our analyses: Relative Genetics in Utah and DNA-Heritage in England. The present cost for a 26-marker profile is $195 at RG for project members, and the equivalent of 79 British pounds at DNA-H for a 21-marker test. Either test is sufficient to establish kinship to one of the known clans. Any male Rebers/Rabers/etc. interested in joining the project are invited to contact either me or Chuck Reber.
I am looking for any Reber/Reboehr connection. Please contact me at barotto@aol.com.

For “reunion” information or to see where you fit into the *rner family, visit Joe Erner’s website at www.geocities.com/~erner/gen/arner which documents the Arner/Aner family to the 1500s, or contact us through the Arner Listserv at ARNER-L@rootsweb.com. We’re planning two fun-filled days including a catered Pennsylvania Dutch luncheon and the dedication of a memorial stone in the Heidelberg Union Church cemetery to honor the immigrants. Help us widen our circle of cyber-cousins and plan to attend. We welcome you.

Charles H. Reber b. 1896 or 1897 Allentown, Pa.

I am trying to find info on Charles H. Reber. He was my maternal grandfather. SSA states that there was only one Charles H. Reber born that time period and that he was born in Allentown. This Charles' father was Edwin A. and his mother was Lydia A. Walters. I would like to know if this Charles lived in Utica, NY in 1925. My Mother was born there that year. I am looking forward to info that will make the connection to Mary Eileen Reber b. Aug. 1925, Utica, NY..

Searching for REBER who married Henrietta Vanderheiden

My Great Aunt, Henrietta Vanderheiden/Vanderheyden was married to a man named Reber. It is believed tht the marriage occurred in the state of Iowa. Apparently, Mr. Reber died between 1878 and 1896. Henrietta was living in Sac County, Grant City when the 1880 census was taken. She married in AR. in 1896. Being devout Roman Catholic, it is veery unlikely that she would have divorced Mr. Reber. If anyone has ever heard of this union, would you please email me at mreese@flah.net. I have looked for this marriage for 15 years with NO RESULTS. She continued to carry the Reber name until she remarried in AR. in 1896. Surely, sonmeone must have come across this name in all of the research that has been done on the Reber name. Thank you and I do hope someone can help.
Jean V. Reese, Texas

I am looking for information on Virginia Reber Hughes. She was born approx. 1901. The last known residence was near Boise, Idaho around 1922/24. She was then married to Charles P. Hughes and had a daughter named Frances Virginia Hughes born 2/18/22. Charles worked for the Army Corps of Engineers and left with his daughter Frances to Alaska. Then he took her to live with his sister Ethel Malcom and her husband Robert in Cottage Grove, Oregon where she presently resides. Frances is my dear grandmother and I would love to solve the mystery of her mother Virgina Reber in Idaho. Thank you.

Helen Sorensen was the sister of Marie Croom. My grandmother.I am looking for any information I can find on the Reber family. I remember a cousin named Chrissy. We were about the same age and favored each other a little. My Aunt Helen and Uncle Otto were great people and I am afraid that I have waited to late to learn about this side of my family. If any one out there has information I would greatly welcome any. I know that Marie's parents came from Stuttgart, Germany in 1882. I know that he was a cabinetmaker and family stories have it that he was a good friend of Thomas Jefferson. He even built cabinets in Jefferson's lab in East Orange,NJ. Croom is my maiden name. For security purposes I will refrain from giving any more about myself. Thank You,
