Re: David Lee Rector son of Doyle Wallace Rector and Neta Louise Reese

I hope I can help you - been working on my own Rector tree for years. There is a Wallace Rector in our family, born about 1929, died about 1998 in California. A lot of folks went by middle names; makes looking them up difficult.
You may want to examine your in-laws' death certificates. Most all of them will tell the parents' names, place of birth, etc. Look up your in-laws on census records at Ancestry.com or www.familysearch.com. That might give you some leads too. If you don't have Ancestry at home, try your local library. Ours has Ancestry Library edition, which has info you can't get at home.
In the meantime, I'll be waiting to hear from you!
Patti Rector Weisenborn
Bunceton, MO
P.S. Just thought of another place you might want to check - www.tribalpages.com.

My great grandfather was Alfred Rector (DOB 1870, Matfield Green Ks)His fathers name was also Alfred Rector (DOB 1821 or 1829). The older Alfred had a brother named William. I have seen some records for William and Alfred but their parents (according to records) are Peter and Jemima. These records are found here submitted by members but I have yet to find proof of parentage.
What leads you to believe that Alfred's parents were Frank and Sarah?

Just estimations. Most likely they met in Kansas or Oklahoma. At that time, my grandparents had a cidar stand on the Kansas state line in Cherokee county. Dad said that Mary and Tom "busted the stand up" and took off. (this could be another beau of Mary's too, as she had a few) Mary was born in 1925...so 1940-ish for a marriage date- I've always thought Reno, but nothing shows up. Tom...I don't know anything about him except what Mary and my father told me. I think she said he went to Nevada. I did know Tom died before Mary did...maybe 10 years before. Mary died in 1989 with the married name Sumpter.

Tom Rector

I am looking for information on a Tom Rector (any name variations or spellings) that met my grandmother Mary May Daniel when she was very young, and the two of them ran off and "got married" (we have yet to prove this!). The story is that it was a shotgun situation due to Mary's age. Mary and Tom eventually parted ways and Mary came back to Oklahoma and married my grandfather.

Does anyone have a story, rumor, or facts about Mary May Daniel and a Tom Rector? I have nothing other than what I remember Mary (and my dad) telling me.

Debbie

Brisbane sisters photo

Attached is a photo that I came across recently of some of the Brisbane sisters: #2 (from left) in the photo is Hannah Brisbane Root, and I believe #5 is Helen (Nellie) Brisbane Weed, both daughters of William Brisbane and Janet Scott. There were seven sisters in all, one of whom died young (Mary). The others are Isabel Fuller Brisbane Kellogg, Catherine Brisbane Rector, Janet Brisbane (unmarried), and Margaret C. (Maggie) Brisbane Turnacliff.

Can any of you identify who is who in this photo? It also may be possible that the seated woman in the middle (#3) is their mother Janet Scott Brisbane. The two oldest sisters, Isabel and Catherine were married and living in Iowa and Wisconsin, respectively, while the rest of the family remained in Minnesota, which might explain the make-up of this portrait.

thanks for any help identifying these women,
Laurie
