Well, I'm still perplexed about the nicholas/exekiel/hugh thing (though I'm leaning towards Hugh, though I have heard "Nicholas Hugh" as well). I've NOT found any records to show Ezekiel at all anywhere. However, I can answer your Rebecca question...apparently at the time, it was common to give a child the name of the stepfather even without the benefit of formal adoption...Hardnell is her stepfather's name...her biological father's name is Maxson...they are the same person...Hugh married Sarah Harding after Rebecca's death (or right at as she died between 12/29/1707 and 2/25/1707 or 1708)....Good Luck!

Our family have roots in the province of Prince Edward Island, Canada. By connecting to various Irish and English sources, my cousin has printed a book about the origins of the name Reddin, Redden, Rudin, and many other derivatives. There isn't a direct connection but the thinking is that we emigrated to the east coast of Canada during a potato fammon.

Gregg Reddin
Prince Edward Island, Canada

Hello- I'm very interested in this line of Reddens who I believe are the ones who wound up in Illinois. Now I pick them up in Hitesville, Coles County for a while. If that is your line then I'd love to correspond. I'm sure (with only circumstancial evidence) that my Harvey (aka Henry) Redden is related to Asa and Shadrach line down from Nehemiah Redden, Sr. of Maryland- to Kentucky- to Illinois.
They all wound up at some point in the now defunct community of Hitesville on the Coles/ Edgar county line circa 1830-1850's. Thanks for contacting me directly if possible links can be found.

Yours,
Charlotte
CRedden399@aol.com

The OneWorld Tree of Mary Redden mistakenly lists her husband's name as Walter. His name was Edward McGinnis. Walter was the son. Edward married Mary in 1893 following his first wife, Mary McDermott's death in 1891. Edward, Mary McDermott, Mary Redden and all the children are buried in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Rochelle, IL in the McGinnis Family plot. Look for the large McGinnis monument towards the back of the cemetery.

I have a couple of Parker names documented, but nothing related to the Reddens. Any other info you may have might be some help. I'm sorry I couldn't help more! PS. I believe the Hunts were either Cherokee, Irish, or a mix of both if this helps at all, but I have no proof of this.

Yes I have her obit. My grandma had a whole book of obits and when she passed I got it and all the info she had on the family. Her parents are listed as Bob and Ollie Hunt. I too went through the censuses, but that was about a year ago and I haven't worked on this in a while, so I lose track of what I know! Yes we did speak right at a year ago. I would LOVE to see those pics if you have a scanner. Do you know where I can find that book at? I will go through my things and see what I can find that might be new.

Hopefully also find some new cousins! So far we have results from members with ancestors in Virginia, South Carolina, Maryland, and soon will have results for my line which is based in Prince Edward Island Canada. Most of these are of Irish descent.

If you have any interest in this project please contact me offlist at aggiroseATgmailDOTcom

Cheers, Aggi-Rose

i read your message about Hays Redden in Independence AR. In 1860 my gg-grandfather William Coleman Leonard and his wife, Sarah, are living in Jackson Co. AR. just across the river from Independence Co. As a matter of fact William Coleman had family living in Independence AR. at that time. My g-grandmother,Mary is one year old and living with them is a Margaret Redden, age 6. There are other Redden children living with another family nearby. Hays Redden is shown on the 1850 census in Independence AR with 8 of his children. My ggg-grandmother was also living in Independence AR at that time. Her name was Delia Helfer, but in the census they have it as Helfon. She was full blood Cherokee and I have been searching for her maiden name. I wondered if the Reddens were related to them since
Margaret Redden is living with them in 1860.

My ggg-grandmother, Delia, was said to have been born in MO. in 1824-25. Do you know if this family or another Redden family had roots in MO? I have been researching the Redden name thinking this might be her maiden name since they are also Cherokee.

Any information to direct my search would be welcome.

Thanks,

Carole Burris

Timberly,
Would you happen to have a copy of Sarah Lou Redden's obit? I was hoping to find something that could verify her parents' names. The census records that I have collected show Robert (Bob) and Nancy Allace Williams Hunt as her parents. The names change from one census to the next. The family appear to move from Hardin to Henderson County, TN.
I believe that you and I spoke by email about a year ago. I have been to the cemetery where James F. Redden and Betty Redden are buried recently hoping to find clues. I have also spoke with some distant relatives of the Reddens that live in the area. I have obtained a Henderson County pictoral book that contains a picture of Lou and also a picture of James F. and Ann Redden along with one of Ertie Redden Millner and her family. Let me know if there is anything that I can be of help with.
Kim
I have been researching the Hunt family for several years. Does anyone know exactly how many siblings Sarah Lou Hunt Redden had? I believe that my g-grandmother Annie E. Hunt Parker was a sister to Sarah. My family only remembers a few of the Redden family who traveled to TN for a funeral several years ago.

I have record of where he married Fannie Kaylor in 1810. We have always thought that he came from Englan, departing from Liverpool, but we have found no sure record of his departure or arrival.
