I have a Thomas Reddy who came to the U. S. during the famine. The first record of him here is that he stood as a godfather in 1855 to a Rose Barrett, daughter of Thomass Barrett and Mary Moser in PA. He may have had a brother Patrick who married in St. Jerome's, Tamaqua, PA in 1853.

She is the documented mother of Joseph Patrick Johnston, born 1889 to her and Joseph Johnston.
Not much is known about her. all my information comes from my father and my gfather social security application in 1937.
Don't know if there is any connection or not. I have very little info on the family before 1860 when they appeared in New York. Records indicate they came from Dublin in /abt 1860. Christopher Reddy married to Jane, Children James Andrew, Julia, and Mary. Record indicate Jane was a widow in 1863. Don't know what happened to Christopher or where he is. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello!
I just saw your post today. Mt great-great-grandfather was Thomas Reddy, born in Ireland about 1830. He settled in the anthracite coal region in PA, specifically in Mauch Chunk, Summit Hill and Tamaqua. He was a worker on the railraod. He married my great-great grandmother, Ann Gallagher, in St. Jerome's Church, Tamaqua, PA in 1860. Three of his sons were named John, Thomas and Patrick. His other sons were William, James, and Michael, my great-grandfather. He had two daughters, Mary Ann and Sarah. I have no idea where Thomas came from in Ireland. I hope that some of my information connects with yours. Please write back!
Sincerely,
Ida Genova

Hi Sue
This family sounds very familar. Patrick Reddy & Ellen Reddy were my great-great-grandparents. Ellen was born in July 3, 1789 on Achill Island, Mayo Cty, Ireland and lived 103 years - died in 1891. She had Patrick Reddy (who married Mary Gannon)(their son is William Reddy)and is the brother of my greatgrandfather, James Reddy born 1855(who married Ellen Langan)and had 3 children Julia, Nellie and Anne b.1890. Anne is my grandmother. They came to Genesee Falls to build the Genesee Valley Cannel around 1857.
My great-grandmother's father was Patrick Langan and mother was Sabina Sagan. I don't have much information about them - would love to know more. Thanks, Sandi Daubert
