Reder Family

I am looking for information about the Reder family which has its roots in Bavaria. Dr. Ignaz Reder was probably born mid-1700s and lived in Mellrichstadt. There is still a street there named after him (Ignaz-Reder-Strasse). I have some photos from the 1950s showing on the main square of Mellrichstadt a buiding built by Ignaz Reder. At the time it was an Apotheke (pharmacy/chemist) and bore a plaque with his name.

Dr. Ignaz Reder had a son Dr. Franz Reder, who in turn had five sons and a daughter: Babette, Kasper, Anton, Franz, Heinrich, and Phillip Reder.

I have no information about Kasper Reder.

Babette had a granddaughter named Johanna Stobaeus living in Short Hills, NJ in the 1950s.

Heinrich was Heinrich Ritter von Reder, a well-known soldier, artist, lyricist, and poet. I found a number of mentions of him in a web search. He lived from 1824-1909.

Phillip lived from 1810-1876. He also had five children: August, Eima (?), Babette (1861-1925), William (1844-1900), and Emil (1842-1916). Emil had six children: Fritz (?), Ludwig, Babette, Franz (1876-1918), Hans, and Klothilde. Hans and Klothilde were both unmarried and living together in Kradenbach in the 1950s. Franz had two children: Hans (1909-1941) and Franz Heinrich Reder, who was born in 1908 and was living in Munich as an architect in the 1950s. Franz had a daughter named Isolde Margarethe, born in 1938.

Anton Reder had a son named Max who in turn had a son named Francis (Frank) Reder. Frank Reder lived in Toldeo, Ohio with his wife Mary and two sons (Francis and Richard?). Several members of this family were in the Toledo police or fire departments in the 1950s. Much of the information I have regarding the above family history comes from letters Frank wrote to his cousin Dorothea Reder Bolin in the 1950s. Frank Reder had a great interest in the family geneology and travelled the U.S. and Europe researching and visiting relatives. I believe he may have lived from 1898-1973.

(Reder family research was also conducted by John R. Walker of Ft. Worth, Texas in the 1970s).

The final son of Dr. Franz Reder of Mellrichstadt was also named Franz and was also a doctor. He lived from 14 March 1829 to 28 December 1913. He immigrated to New Athens, IL and there married Maria Theresa Dietz on 11 March 1861. She lived from 15 March 1842 to 17 September 1893.

Franz and Maria Reder had five children who lived to reach adulthood: Francis LeSalle, Emil Augustus, Pauline (Paula?), August Ralph, and Gertrude.

About August Ralph all I know is that he was born in 1874. Paula was born 20 August 1868, married Martin Seydel, and died 21 April 1944. Gertrude was born November 1888, married Daniel Parker, and died in August 1973.

Emil Augustus was born 21 March 1866, married Martha M. Walker on 31 May 1899, and died on 4 September 1947. They had two daughters: Pauline was born on 1 February 1900, married Thomas Aloysius Leto on 27 January 1930, and died on 23 December 1961. Marguerite was born 2 Jult 1905, married Hugh Jones, Jr on 11 April 1927, and died on 25 February 1930. There was also a stepson, Virgil S. Walker, father of John R. Walker of Texas.

All of the children of Franz and Maria Reder, as well as the daughters of Emil and Martha Reder, appear to be buried in Oak Grove cemetery in St. Louis.

Franz and Maria's remaining son, Francis LeSalle Reder, was born on 9 January 1864 and died on 18 May 1938 in St. Louis. He was also a doctor. He married Ella Castle (13 April 1872 - 29 December 1945), a daughter of Chauncey Castle. They had three children: Eloise, Dorothea, and Francis. Eloise married George Allen and she died in 1945. Francis married a woman named Vivian and he died in 1948.

Dorothea Reder was born 13 June 1900 and died 2 August 1975. She married Ray E. Bolin of St. Louis (17 October 1895 - 29 May 1986) on 3 January 1922. They had four children: Charles Reder Bolin (7 October 1922 - 29 October 1991), Francis Reder Bolin (born 12 March 1924), Dorothea Elizabeth Bolin Cheyney (12 October 1925 - 1 September 1986), and Ray Edward Bolin, Jr (born 7 November 1929).

My father was Charles Reder Bolin. I was born when he was older and relatively estranged from his family, and he raised me on the West Coast. He died over ten years ago and a few papers with the above details are all I have. Any further information would be greatly appreciated.
