The names of your family are repeated in mine but they are common names. My brother is William Redmond, ny Dad is John Redmond, his father is James Redmond, his father John Redmon, and his father Thomas Allen Redmon that we discussed. Other related names used as middle given names are Patterson and Moore. Thanks for the reply and if anything new is discovered, stay in touch. Claudia Redmond Riley

I don't think we have a direct connection. Thomas and Agnes were married in NYC in the late 1790's. They had 3 sons, John, James and William and a daughter, Mary Jane, all born between 1800 and 1810. They all remained in Orange County, NY and died there. I have all the family line documented from Thomas forward. Thomas's known siblings are as follows-John, b in Ireland, died NYC 1821, James b Ireland, died in Orange Co, NY in 1805, and Mary died in NY (date unknown). If I find any info that would tie your Thomas to mine I will contact you. Thanks for responding,
Sandra

I think you were replying to my post regarding Thomas Allen Redmond. Your Thomas could be the father of my Thomas, since my Thomas was born in 1796, that would make your Thomas age 36 at his birth. If your Thomas came to America in the 1790's, that would also work as we believe my Thomas was born in Ireland so everything fits. I do have a couple male cousins that are direct descendants of Thomas in Ohio that could be DNA tested if they are willing and could afford it. I am not close to them and do not hear from them but do know where they live.I did have a brother but he passed away a year ago last June. Do you know anything about other descendants of your Thomas? Did any of them go to Ohio? Claudia

Thomas Rodman b in Ballymena in the 1760's married Agnes Niel or Neil in NYC in the late 1790's. She was also born in Ballymena. They lived in Orange County, NY. Thomas had at least two older brothers, James and John who were also in NY, and a sister, Mary, who married Hugh Tate from Ballymena. They also lived in NYC. The siblings seem to have come here from the 1780's through the late 1790's. The names of the males followed a pattern of Thomas, William, John, James, Henry and Robert. The Rodman name seems interchangeable with Redmon, Redmond, Rodmond. My husband has had two hits with a DNA test, both hits being named Redmond.
Sandra

Looking for information on immigration. marriage and birth records for James Redmond, born 1835 in Ireland, thought to have immigrated in 1858 to Newlin Township to work as farm labor and died in West Chester in 1904. Married to Mary Lawler who immigrated in 1860, having been born in Ireland in 1833. Together they had twelve children. I am particularly interested on getting a clue as to their origins in Ireland, so that I can begin searching Irish records. Other information on Watson - Gaffney - Redmond - Horstmann family tree on Ancestry.com.

I am trying to find information about Ellen Redmond born abt 1827 in or around Co. Carlow Ireland. I believe she may be the daughter of a John Edward Redmond (1806-1865)but not certain of this. Ellen married Michael Merna Sr. (not certain as to original spelling of Merna but later was refered to as Merner), also of Ireland, and moved to the Birkenhead area in the 1850s and had several children including a Michael Merna Jr. who was my great grandfather. Any information about Ellen, her parents, her marriage to Michael Sr. would be appreciated.

Hello, My grandmother was Mary Ellen Redmond. She married Raymond Grady. In the 1930 Census Ralph, his wife Helen and children Janet & Lawrence were living with Raymond and hs family at 39 Hamlin St Orono Maine. My mother was Raymond's youngest child: Mary Jane. I believe that when the family emigrated, at least one of the Redmond grandparents had left from Liverpool. My grandfather's letters tease his wife about her scottish streak. This may indicate origins in Northern Ireland and not just an interest in pinching every penny. My mother spoke often of her Uncle Ha (Harry), "Billy" Redmond, Uncle Fred and his wife, Aunt Dena. She remembered her mother's nickname as "Mame". Family referred to my mother as "Benny". Feel free to contact me at mlou@myactv.net. I am just starting to get back to searching the Family Tree. Neither my Mother, nor her sisters had managed to break the barrier of the Atlantic before her death. Mary Lou Ni Maire

I am hoping someone can help with information about Edward Redmond - son of James Redmond. I have very little to go on, other than what is on his marriage certificate. He married Mary Perkins in Liverpool,in 1875,aged 39 (DOB 1836?). Both he and his father have "mariner" as their occupation. The 1881 UK census gives his place of birth as Ireland and Edward and Mary travelled to Dublin for the birth of their son Thomas so I am wondering whether he is from Dublin. The 1891 census shows Mary as widowed but I can find no record of him dying in England. Any help would be much appreciated

I was just wondering if anyone can help I am trying to locate the ancestors of Catherine Redmond born 1835 in County Wexford. Family history, right or wrong said that she was a relative of John Redmond.

Catherine Redmond was born in 1835 and circa 1872/1873 married Edward O’Neill. They settled in Dublin, Rialto to be precise and we think worked in Guinness. They had one daughter Mary O’Neill who was born 28/08/1874. She married Edward Byrne from Rathdrum in 1901. Mary O’Neill and Edward Byrne were my great great grandparents.

There are still members of the Byrne and Hannify (cousins) still living in Rathdrum to this day.

Can anyone help?

Would you be willing to get a lookup in Ireland. I have hit a brick wall with my family. My gg grandfather was Thomas Allen/Alan Redmond/Redmon (1796-18430). We think he came to the United States from Ireland prior to 1820 as he was married in 1820 in the States. He lived for a time in Mechanicsburg, Franklin County, Pennsylvanis and then moved to Mercer County, Ohio. He married Catherine A. Moore (1799-1864). She was the daughter of Samuel Moore and Catherine A. Moore. She had brothers John and Samuel. The Moore family were from Belfast, Antrim, Ireland and settled in Mercer County, Ohio. I would love to find a connection for Thomas in Ireland finding out what county he was living in prior to coming to America. I would also like to find a connection for the Moore family finding out their family in Ireland. Catherine and Thomas had these children:
Jane Moore Redmon
Samuel Moore Redmon
James Moore Redmon
John Patterson Redmon (my great grandfather)
Catherine Patterson Redmon
Anna Redmon
Nancy Redmon
Elizabeth Redmon
Mary redmon
Margaret W.
I'm looking for info on David Bunyan or it could be Bunyan David Redmon / Redmond / Redman / Redmand. I've seen it several ways.
I think he was a brother to my great grandfather. He was married to Minnie. She died sometime bet. 1920 and 1930. His children were living with several Watford families in around Holmes County and Jackson County, Florida.

Missing Person

Listed on the 1870 census for JOB REDMOND his wife VICTORIA'S household there were three minors named ELLA REDMOND female age 5 b. Ala., FRANCES REDMOND female age 3 b. Ala, and WALTER REDMOND male age 1 b. Ala..
Does anybody know who this ELLA was? I don't have her listed as one of JOB and VICTORIA'S children. I don't know why not if she was listed on the census. The names I had for JOB and VICTORIA'S children came from my Uncle Loyd, son of JOHN JEFFERSON. He told me back in the late 80's who his uncles and aunts were that he could remember. Maybe, ELLA died young and he didn't know about her.
She is not listed on the 1880 census but she would have been about 15 yrs. old and it is a possiblity she could have been married by then. The 1880 census lists the following in the household of JOB AND VICTORIA REDMON: FRANCIS age 12, WALTER age 10, MARY age 8, VICTORIA age 6, ZORA age 4, and EUGENE REDMON age 1.
The elder REDMONS were living with ZORA and MILES SIMMONS on the 1900 census. Then on the 1910 census they are living with their son JOHN REDMON. On the 1920 census JOB has died and CAROLINE V. REDMON is living with her daughter ZORA SIMMONS again. CAROLINE VICTORIA was living with her daughter, MRS. E.E. JOHNSTON when she applied for a CSA widows pension. MRS. E. E. JOHNSTON was MARY ELIZABETH REDMON who married EDWIN E. JOHNSTON.
Again, does anybody know any more about Job's children especially Ella, Mack or a Bud?
Different spellings for these Redmons are REDMON, REDMOND, REDMAN, REDMAND.

James and Mary Cavanaugh Redmond County Cork Ireland

I am looking for information on James and Mary Cavanaugh Redmond my great, great grandparents. James was born in 1804/1805 and died 2/21/1883 and Mary was born approximately 1810 and died 2/17/1883. They both died in Williston, Vermont. They emigrated from County Cork, Ireland to Quebec, Canada and are listed on the 1851 census. I believe they had 12 children (not all were on the census)named: Mary, Elizabeth, Anne, Kate, Ellen, Bid, Marguerite, Thomas, John, Joseph, Catherine and Theresa. They immigrated to Vermont I believe in the 1850's. I am looking for information on where James and Mary were from in Ireland and their siblings and ancestors. I am also particulary interested in any information about Catherine, Joseph or Theresa.

Thank you.

I'm trying to locate Josiah T. Redmond, last child of J.F.Redmond and Stella Raymer, who lived in the Nashville area in the mid-60s. I have an address on Tank Hill Rd, Waverly, TN for him but it is from the early 2000s and the phone # is out-of-order. I have a photo of his parents and a letter his dad wrote on of my Allen/Gambill/Brake/Parrish relatives in 1965 that tells about his life and growing up in the area that I thought the family would like to have. Josiah was b. 1940. Siblings were John Wesley. Lillian Belle, Thomas Huston, twins Dora Irene and Lora Katherine, Norma Louise, Rosie Myrtle, Virginia Estella, Herbert Hoover.

If any one knows this family, please contact me at levesque@fix.net. Thanks!

REDMOND GROUP

Good day to all searchers looking for REDMOND, and various ways of spelling.

I have been frustrated by Internet searches and created a Yahoo group where it is free to join, all you need is a Yahoo ID. Here is the address to join:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/redmondandalliedfamilies/
You may need to copy and paste, type or do a Yahoo Group search. Different people have had different challenges with the link.

I started the group yesterday 12 June 2009 and we have 5 members already from Australia to Alabama, so come and lets get together and share photos files and information in one easy location. You just might find the answer you've been searching for in the group.

Cheers
Cece Redmond

David Redmond 1766

I am looking for my GGGGFather and Mother - David Redmond married Mary Devereux in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada in 1766. He was a fisherman, prominent in the fishing village of Prospect NS (http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~prospect/)
I believe Mary's family - father William Devereux - came to Halifax with the Cornwallis ships that originally settled Halifax in 1749 - I believe they were civilian settlers coming from London, but they may also have been in the English navy or army. There was also a William Redmond and wife who may have been a brother or cousin of David.

http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~canns/cornwallis.html

I would be very interested in why so many fishermen came from County Wexford in the mid-1750s - is fishing still a major occupation of that community? How did they usually get to Canada - did they come with the French military? Or first go to England, then find passage with the English? Were there any ships going directly from Southern Ireland?

It would be wonderful if a Redmond in co. Wexford could fill me in on some history of your part of the world.

There son Marcus "Mark" is my GGGGrandfather. He married Elizabeth Ault. Do you have any info on these people? I have little info about them. They eventually came to Canada and then NY in St. Lawrence County. Looking forward to your reply. Katie

Johanna's parents were Peter and Catherine Quirk. John and Johanna had 7 children and resided in Brooklyn. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks, Helen
