Not sure anyone checks this anymore, most posts seem years old. I'm posting Oct 07 2009. I literally just started searching the ancestry yesterday. I am a Redondo living in Los Angeles CA. Son of Ysidro Redondo ( AZ 1930-1993), he takes his Father's name (I)ysidro (abt1886--1950) and he was the son of Pedro Redondo (1854-1911) & Manuela Estrada (1846-1912). From what i can gather Redondo's migration from Sonora Mexico to the Arizona territory 1850-1865.
my search is only a few days old but i will continue to search and any info anyone can provide would be much appreciated.

What a Wonderful! Redondo Family Reunion we had in May 2009.
It was a pleasure to work with Lorraine and to take this last years photo's. Wow! to be Honored with our own Redondo Room at Yuma's newest Hilton Hotel. And to top that off, Jose Maria Redondo Ribs to be offered on their Menu. So many new faces,so many wonderful stories, and pictures,
many more came this year than last, and now there are those that could not make it this last time, are saying they will defiantly be there for our next one. Can't wait..
For those of you that could not make it this year, we missed seeing you there, we all had a great! time.
We are already talking about our next one, will let you know more later.

Estevan Stephen Redondo & Maria Antonia Gallego.

Having met both of you has been one of the MOST beautiful experiences a person could ever experience, being that most people do not get the chance to meet their family members beyond the immediate family. I only hope that by introducing the family tree byHeritage that every family member will take it a step further and download the program to their computer and create their own family tree and link it to the others that have already done so.
The information that both you and Susanna have shared with me is now documented history that will forever be available to the world.
It's amazing that our lives are also connected thru my Tia Concha ~ your Nana Concha huh!!

I encourage every person who has the Redondo blood to contact us so that we can acknowledge each other and our families.

In trying to learn more about my biological father Francisco Ballze (Balsz) Ortega I never thought I would learn of so many cousins.Years back my sister & I had visited the River & the Yuma terretorial prison not even knowing that the founding father of the Yuma Terretorial prison-Jose Maria Redondo was my dads Great Grandfather.It has been a great ride learning about so many cousins.Cousin Tiny Ayala is also related to us through my Grandmother's side (Susana Garcia Ortega), we share the same Great Grandmother Francisca Garcia widowed to Regino Ortega both were known as Pima/O'odham.Our Great Grandmother later married her Great Grandfather Miguel Coz. According to oral stories his parents Jesus Coz & Viviana Garcia traveled with the Redondo family from Tucson or Sonora during the mining era. I'm still trying to learn more about any descendents who were/are connected to the Hia-Ced O'odham/Papago families that worked for many pioneering families of Yuma.There is not a lot of documented history on my Grandmother Susana's people. Many of her relatives lived in Dome/Welton-Mohawk Yuma, Arizona during the early mid 1800-mid 1900.Hope to hear from anyone that has info about my family history.And thank you Fran for putting on the family website! your cousins Ismael Ortega Ballze & Susana Ortega Guachena

The name of Redondo originated in the mountains of Burgos and from there it spreads throughout the penninsula. It proved it's nobility many times in La Real Chancilleria De Valladolid.

I am also doing researrch with my brother and family in Arizona on Jose Maria Redodndo our great grandfather father.
The family intermarried with JOse Maria Rohnstadt in Altar mexico 1867 to marguerite redondo.

My wife Stella Encinas Montaño, is a descendant of Jose Maria Redondo. Stella's grandmother was Beatriz Redondo Estrada. Her Mother was Gertrudis Redondo, daughter of Jose Maria and Piedad Contreras Redondo. Gertrudis' siblings were: Jose Maria Redondo II,Jesus Redondo, Alonzo Redondo, Margarita Redondo( who married Frederick Ronstadt)of the Linda Ronstadt family, and C. Redondo. So... if any of you are related to Jose Maria Redondo, then you are also related to Linda Ronstadt, the famous and well known singer.
Gertrudis' grandfather was Don Santiago Redondo. Gertrudis Redondo( my wife's great grandmother) married Jose Federico Estrada, and their children were: Federico Redondo Estrada 1892-1922; Maria Redondo Estrada 1895-1973; Beatriz Redondo Estrada ( my wife's Grandmother)1897-1979; Lauro Redondo Estrada 1898-1951; Frances Redondo Estrada 1903-1963; Jose Redondo Estrada 1905-?; Antonio Redondo Estrada 1909-1967.
Jose Maria Redondo's parents were Don Santiago Redondo and Luz Rodriguez Redondo, and his grandparents were Francisco Xavier Redondo and Ana Maria Gortari.
All of my wife's aunts/uncles, etc. on her Grandmother Beatriz Redondo Estrada's side were born in and around Douglas, Arizona, along with my wife's Father, Jose Redondo Estrada Encinas.
My wife has a family tree binder that consists of approx. 36 pages of the Redondos

Yep we are very lucky to have been able to conect with each other and the rest of our family members huh. You know I first started searching back in 2002 and then on June 19, 2007 129 years AFTER the death of my/your Great, Great Great Grandfather Jose Maria Redondo my mom received a call from Ismael Ballze who was calling regarding my Aunt who had been married to his father but in further talking it came out that he was also a Redondo by blood and it just snowballed from that day on!!!

I / you have many, many cousins here as well, wow huh!!!
My father passed away 11/27/78, but my mother is alive, i have 3 brothers and 1 sister, 1 daughter and 2 grand children, along with nieces and nephews my siblings children and their grand children.

it's my wish to be able to make a visit to Az in the very near future with my mother, who deserves the credit to the research on our family. My fathers side via his mother is how we are related, but my mother has always encouraged me to do the research, and has always said what a historically rich family we Redondos are!!!

My great great grandfather is Luis Redondo of Altar, Sonora, Mexico, born in 1815. Luis is brother to Jose Maria Redondo of Yuma fame. Their father is Santiago Redondo, born 1796. Santiago's father, my gggg grandfather, is Francisco Xavier Redondo, born 1770. If you have additional information, I am eager to learn. In 1753 Francisco Xavier Redondo traveled from the Valle de Sinaloa north to the newly established Presidio of Altar, Sonora.

In 1792 Francisco Xavier Redondo received a large land grant from the crown between Altar and Santa Ana in Ocuca . His
brother Santiago Redondo also was granted a large tract of land extending from Altar northeast to Saric and Tubutama.

Note: It's not clear whether the two Francisco's above are the same person or father and sons!

Aurora Redondo Contreras, she was married to Jesus Contreras, his Father was Francisco Contreras they came from Altar and helped establish Yuma which at that time was called Arizona City, and later it was given the name of today Yuma. Aurora was from the Redondo Family you have listed.

I have been doing research on my family since 2002 and I've come across quite a bit of information and have had the blessings to make contact with some cousins recently. In fact just short of the aniversary of 129 years after the death of our Great Great Grandfather Jose Maria Redondo (June 19, 1878 - 2007) is when we were contacted by a cousing Ismael Ballze, his sister susana guachena, and Tina Ayala, which has been such an overwhelming experience.

My Family history is so very special to me and a very interesting an important part of history

Mine are as follows:Grandmother Isabell Redondo Figueroa Imperial, daughte of Mercedes Redondo, Great Grandmother Mercedes Redondo, daughter of Pieadad Contreras and Jose Maria Redondo,Santiago Redondo was the father of Jose Maria Redondo and Francisco Xavier was the father of Santiago Redondo.

My great grandmother is Victoria Redondo. she was born in 1889 in Mexico and may have been Yaqui Indian and came to the US sometime in between. She had my grandfather in 1914 +- a few years Maybe in Arizona. Guadalupe(Lupe) T. Redondo. He was given his mom maiden name. His Father was Catarino Liciaga(unsure about the spelling)also born in Mexico. My g.grandma was living with or seeing a man by the name of Longino Gonzales. he was still with my greatgrandma when she died in san pablo, ca. in 1924.
