This is a bit of a reach, but am down to grasping at straws. My maternal side is dominantly "Reece" at least as far as my GGgrandfather Charles Reece in Clinton Co., Iowa. Going back to Mississippi, Yalobusha County I encounter his father Marion McDonald Reece (Rees?) Indications are that a marriage between Marion McDonald "Rees" and Julia Ann Brewer in Monroe County, MS on 14 Aug 1851 may be my GGGgrandparents with either a name change or botched spelling. At any rate, the Reece surname seems to be gone and perhaps replaced with "Rees". Dates all fit, only the name is morphed.
Anyone with some ideas? Would gladly share info.
