Seeking information on Joel R. Register and his mother Mary, who is believed to be a Porter. Joel was born in Henry County, AL, in 1841 and moved with his mother Mary to Tyler County TX around 1860.

Joel is believed to be adopted, but we aren't sure if Mary was his birth mother or adoptive mother.

Research on Mary has turned up precious little information.

For the full story, vist www.joelrasberryregister.org
Texas- Grace Elizabeth Register/Rigester 1913-1999 need info

Grace Elizabeth Rigester (misspelling or different spelling of Register, she is on here as both) is on a Texas birth register as giving birth to my grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Wright (father is Walter Worth Wright).

None of our family ever knew this, or that my grandmother was born in Texas and not North Carolina. Walter Worth Wright married Sarah Ann Brown and my family knew only her as the mother to my grandmother.

Grace Elizabeth's parents were Howard and Marry Ann Register. She has 6 older siblings when she was 7 in the 1920 census and 3 younger siblings. She gave birth to my grandmother at about 21 years old, Walter Worth Wright was 13 years older than her.

The childrens names are: Sybil, John H, Marry Joe, Willie Dorris, Bonner C, Joseph T, Blanche, Floriene, Emly (Emily?) E Register.

I am hoping to find someone who knew her growing up or who has some relatives in their tree. I'm hoping someone knows the story of why Grace Elizabeth was not in my grandmother's life or ever mentioned to anyone.

John T Register or John F Register of Bleckley County Georgia

On the 1920 Bleckley census there is a John F Register married to Martha. Living in the same household there is a William T Register, Elsie, and Nobie. I know for a fact my relationship to William, Elsie, and Nobie. My question is about ,I believe to be his father, John. On one census he is John T and another John F. Does anyone know the middlename of this John or have any more information on this Register line. I also believe this John to have lived in the Laurens County area. William and Elsie are buried in Bowers cemetery in Dodge County area. Thanks William

REBECCA REGISTER--b. abt. 1824 ALABAMA

Looking for information on Rebecca Register who married my gggf, Benjamin M. Raley in Washington County, Florida probably bet. 1855-1870. His first wife, Martha, died about 1855.

Ben's wife's name in both the 1860 and 1870 Washington County, Florida censuses was Rebecca. The 1860 Rebecca was born about 1824 in North Carolina; the one in 1870 was born about 1824 in Alabama. It is not known whether these two Rebeccas are the same, but with different birth information.

I have copies of death certificates for two of Benjamin's daughters, Eliza Raley Dykes (b.1861; d. 9/28/1941) and Amy Raley Bodie (b.1871; d. 2/22/1944) who died in Washington County, Florida. Both DC's show Rebecca Register as the maiden name of their mother. An elderly woman who knew Eliza said that Rebecca Register was born in Alabama.

It is not known whether Register was Rebecca's maiden or married name before she married Benjamin Raley. There is also a possibility that Rebecca was married to a Willis Wright before she married Benjamin M. Raley. There is a Willis Wright with wife Rebecca, born in South Carolina, in the 1850 Washington County, Florida census. And, in 1860, there is a 7-year-old John Wright living in Ben's household. (Or, there may have been two different Rebeccas.)

In 1850, there are several Registers living in Washington County, Florida. It is conceivable that Rebecca could have been connected to these Registers.

I know this is confusing, but basically, I would like to know: (1) Was Register the maiden name or married name of the Rebecca who married Benjamin Raley? (2) If Register was her married name, what was her maiden name? What was her Register husband's first name? Was she married to Willis Wright in 1850?

If you have any clues to sort all this out, please contact me. Thanks for your help.

Hi my name is Steven Jean. I am searching for an Augustine Register who came to the U.S. from Haiti in 1918. I doubt that he may be related to any of the American Registers but any info would be nice. He wrote several books and traveled around the U.S. and his last resting place was in the Belmont section of Newark before he died in 1965 at Trenton state hospital. We are trying to find as much info on him as possible, but there is the possibility that he changed his name along the way. This is my first genealogy search and any pointers or directions to specific sites would be greatly appreciated.

Register Reunion - Register Family Association

Just wanted to let those know who are not aware of it, there has been a wonderful Register Family Reunion for 'many years' . This began as a reunion for members of the family of Samuel and Elizabeth Register of GA however for some years now Registers from all over the country, and some even from further away, have gathered to meet 'new family' and share information. I am one of what my brother once called the 'renegade Registers'..in other words we have been unable to track our lineage to the Samuel Register line. Dispite that, or maybe because of it, LOL, we were welcomed joyfully with open arms as are ALL those who carry or are connected to the REGISTER name! Now there are many of us Register's who are trying to fit ourselves into the giant jig-saw puzzle of family connections. The Register reunions were held in GA until a few years ago when the reunion moved to Lake City, FL, however this coming year it is again to be held in GA.
You can learn more about this at the Register Family Association Homepage. Check out what is there and then sign the guest book and say 'hi' to cousin Joe! You'll be be glad you stopped in! We have really been blessed to have such a hard working 'webmaster' and cousin! The addy is <http://www.jblair29.net/registers2000.html> . The next reunion will be the 15th of May, with the research and sharing on the 14th. Then, 2006 is going to be a very special year, as it marks the 50th anniversary of the Register Family Association Newsletter/Magazine.
If you are able to come on the day of the reunion remember to bring a covered dish and enjoy a good 'old fashioned' family reunion dinner! We Registers love to eat, LOL! If you are a Register by any name, spelling, connection, size, shape or color, you will be welcomed!

Powells who are really REGISTERS

Hello,

This message is for all of the Powells who descend from Caroline H Powell or TINY as they called her or Pina as she was called by her close relatives. She married M C Wright in 1885 but until then she had a past. Here is the dirty laundry.

Tiny/Pina Powell was born 1850 to Larkin and Nancy Powell. In 1870 she is 20 was a 6month old son named David Talcutt or Tolquitt Powell. His father was Talcutt or Tolquitt S. REGISTER. TS Register or "Boy" as he was called by people who knew him was known all over Dodge and Telfair counties and I am sure other counties fathering children out of wedlock. Not only did Pina have this baby boy by him but her older sister Mary Elizabeth born 1845 had her first three by him. Victoria born 1867, LouGenia born 1868, and Mac Dalton born 1870/71 ish. Mac Dalton started RedHill Babtist Church and preached there for 25 years. If you know anything about TS REGISTER or MAC DALTON I would love to talk to you.

I need to add that David Talcutt Powell grew up and married Elizabeth Parker. David Powell was known as "UNCLE OR COUSIN PETE ". They had five or so children. Millard, Stella, Lonie, Weeda or Ouida, and some others.... these children should have had the Register name, He then married LouElla Mullis and had the following children, Carolynn, Lavada, Baskum, Menaughton, Dewey, Edward, and probably a few more, and these children should have had the Register name as well. I have lots more details, I hope someone would share family info like this with me one day because I know Henry Manning Powell (the one I descend from) should have been a Thomas not a Powell. I am just hoping someone will tell the story and share it. Its nice to know these things.

Sincerely,

Dawn
wdyintexas@sbcglobal.net

Mary J., and Angeline Register

Does anyone have any information on Mary J., and Angeline Register who are listed in the 1860 census of Dale Co., AL. They are listed as daughters of William R. Register. His wife's name is listed as Susan. The listing goes William R. Register, head, 39; Susan, 32; Mary J., 14; Susan E.(?), 11; Angeline, 6; William H., 2. I believe these maybe the Mary Jane, and Angeline Register, who both married Henry M. Smith, my ggggrandfather. between them, they had Callie, b. abt. 1863; Louvenia V.J., b. abt. 1863; Henry Alexander, b. 6 Aug. 1866; Mary Frances, b. abt. 1868; Mary Frances, b. abt. 1870; Sara D., b. abt 1872; D. Anthony, b. abt. 1873; and Rosetta R., b. abt 1876. The first six are presumed to be children of Mary Jane, and the last two are presumed to have been children of Angeline. Henry Alexander was my gggrandfather, and his death certificate lists Mary Jane Register as his mother. Angeline is buried next to Henry M. in Taylor (formerly New Hope Primitive Baptist Church) Cemetery in Geneva Co., Al.
