My great grandfather William Reichert was born in Archbold, OH February 2, 1852. His wife Elizabeth Zeller was born in Kanton Basel, Switzerland August 14, 1865 and they were married July 17, 1886. Both are buried in St Johns Cemetery in Archbold, OH. I have pictures of them when they were alive and I also have pictures of their headstones. They changed the spelling from Reichert to Reichard between 1900 and 1910. Their children were Alfred Martin (1886-1967), my grandfather Edwin William (1888-1966), Hulda Marie (1890-????), Fredrick Frank (1894-1949), Edith E. (1896-1971) and Elmer Gottlieb (1896-1971).

Just noticed this post, and how old it is....I'm a descendant of Christine Reichard, she is my 3rd great grandmother. She is buried at Old Union Cemetery in Northampton, County, Pa. She is buried with her husband, David Paul, my grandfather. I have some information fairly well solidified on their children and etc. information beyond her parents at this point is sketchy. I have been looking for someone to connect with on the Paul/Reichard family of UMTB....
Wesley

Hi,
I would appreciate it if you could e-mail me a copy of the tombstone. I have been researching the Reichard family for some time, especially from the area around Satoraljaujhely. i have concluded that all Jewish Reichards are related.
Since my great-great and great grand parents lived in Tolcsva, do you know if there any pictures of the tombstones there? We were there about 8 years ago and the cemetary was totally overgrown and we were unable to get in.
Sincerely, Mark Reichard

Hi Stephany,I may have been in contact with you before. However, I could not find your Leopold in my data base. I searched today on versions of Moricz, his son. I found I had his father listed as "Simcha Leb Lorincz Reichard. I had another listing for a Lorincz Reichard married to a Pepi Klein. Your contact ties to one of the Reichard descendents that I have been in contact with, Dr. Alexander Reichard, who lives in Toronto, Canada, with whom I have been in contact. Simcha Leb Lorincz Reichard is his great grandfather. Also, we have also been trying to get more information on Ignatz Reichard, who lived in Brooklyn. I would also appreciate getting info on his descendents.

Hi again,
I show Ignacz as born !885 and the oldest child of Moricz and Zali. Hence he was born to the first wife, unless there was another Ignacz. This input came from Alexander originally.
I have amended my documentation to show Simcha Leb Reichard as Simcha Leb Lorincz Reichard and Moricz as Moricz Jacob Reichard.

If you wish to contact me directly, my e-mail address is: mreichard@socal.rr.com.
Moricz Reichard's first wife Zali Klein died in March 1894 about a month after her last child Jeno was born. I found a marriage record dated July 8, 1894 (location Cigand) for Moricz Reichard and Zali Dicker. Ignatz Reichard might be a child from this second marriage.

Hi,
I have been in contact and met Dr. Alexander Reichard who currently lives in Toronto. Based on info from him I show his father as Jeno, his grandfather as Jacob and his grandfather as Simcha Leb. Since I have done extensive research on the Reichard families from Hungary, I also have information on a Moricz Reichard, b. 1850 in Nagy-Geres, HU, son of Lorincz Reichard, b. 1807 in Nagy-Geres and Pepi Klein, b. 1810 in Nagy-Geres. It would appear that Jacob and Moricz may be the same person and that Loricz and Simcha Leb may also be the same person. Let me know your thoughts on this. If they are, I will update my database. I have not found anything additional on Ignatz Reichard. say hello to Alex for me.
Sincerely, Mark Reichard

Some more info to share on Moricz and Zali (I don't know what you have already):
- Zali died 1894.03.31, which makes sense given that Moricz remarried that same year to Zali Dicker
- they had at least 7 children: Adolf (1876), Jetti (1878), Gergely (1883), Herman (1886), David (1888-d.1890), Bernat (1890), Jakob (1894).

It's possible that the Ignatz you're looking for was another son of Moricz and Sally Kline, who married Rose Gross (daught. of Sigmond Gross and Etta Altman) in New York 1904 (I see conflicting dates for the marriage, either April 15 or May 29). I don't know what his birth date was, but his marriage record clearly indicates Mor and Zali as parents.

I found a draft card from 1942 for an Ignatz Reichard born in Hungary in 1878, who was unemployed and living in the Bronx. He died March 8, 1946 in the Bronx. But I can't say if this is the same person as the Ignatz who married Rose Gross (the contact person on this second Ignatz's draft card was not a wife).

I've got several other Ignacz Reichards in my Sataroljaujhely lists, but I'm guessing these are too old to have been the person your cousin remembers from the 1930s (these others were born between 1858-63).

I haven't been in touch with any Reichards from Brooklyn.

I haven't been able to track this person in the USA. Have you had any inquiries from Reichards in Brooklyn.

I wouldn't be surprised if Rezi Reichard, born ca. 1843 and married to Abris/Abraham Lovenkopf and appearing on the 1869 census living in Ricse, might have been another daughter of Leopold/Lorincz Reichard and Pepi Klein. Ricse, Veľký Horeš, and Pribenik are all just a few miles from one another.

I see Moricz's wedding record in the Hungarian marriages database on jewishgen.org, which indicates the marriage occurred 1894.07.08 in Cigand, Hungary but was registered in Kiralyhelmecz (now Královský Chlmec, Slovakia). The record suggests that Moricz was born ca. 1850 (his bride, Zali Dicker, ca. 1853). I also see the marriage of a daughter of Leopold (no mother's name provided) named Mali Reichard, who was born ca. 1851, and married Herman Neuman of Perbenik (born ca. 1843) in Velky Hores on 1869.08.10.

I don't see any simple way of connecting Leopold's line to the Reichards in Satoraljauhely, but it's a good bet that they're all related. You might contact Mark Reichard, in California, who has been collecting information about some 9 lines of the family from the Satoraljauhely region, and also information for relatives who don't (yet) fit into any of the known lines. Feel free to contact me privately at dahirsch@hotmail.com and I'll send you Mark's contact info.

The Reichard family of Nagygeres shows up in the 1869 Hungarian Census. Leopold Reichard and Pepi Klein Reichard live in this town with their son Moricz. My Reichard cousin is descended from this family.

Stephanie, if your cousin's Reichard ancestors were Jewish, it's likely they are related. A Reichard who lives in California has been cataloguing all of the Jewish branches from the Satoraljauhely area, although there are a lot of gaps in the history and we're not sure how all of the branches come together. (My connection is through an Emmanuel born about 1820.)

Do you or anyone who reads this since it has been so long since the message was posted know either one of those? They were parents of my g-grandmother Mary Musser. She married my g-grandfather in 1860 in York, PA. I am trying to find out which Musser would be my gg-grandfather. Thanks for any help.

Charlotte and August Reichardt were my great great grandparents. Charlotte died July 17, 1890. She had been to Junction City, KS traveling from Olpe,KS to visit friends. She died while she was there and she was brought back to Olpe for burial. I have not been able to find a death notice for her anywhere. I have searched the genealogy society, ancestry.com and online and the local genealogy section of the library, all to no avail. If anyone has any information on her and would be willing to share it, that would be wonderful!! Thank you. Leanna Thomas, formerly Leanna Carman

For all who may be interested, I have a most complete genealogy from Michael Reichard who married Maria Stoppelbein 6 October 1761 thru many name changes to the present day Rickard. If any one is interested I would be happy to assist with any information I have. I am leaving tomarrow morning for Pa. to do some genealogy on my Lee line and will return by 15 June.

I just started to play with this while visiting my 86 year old father last week. He often speaks of all the history that has been buried with his sisters. He is the last of his generation from his immediate family.

I am delighted that this site is so helpful and inspiring. My email address is lorraincriss@live.com. I check it weekly, but not usually daily. Thank you for your offer to work together.

Lorraine Dickey-Criss
