I believe there is a Jacob Reichert or Richert buried in the Evergreen Cemetery in Brooklyn, NY. Perhaps there are family members around him. I'm sorry this is just from memory so it is pretty slim. I do remember the headstone as being an oblisk and it had more than one name on it.
Ray Richard

William Nelson Reichert b. 25 Jan 1890 Essex, New Jersey. d. 22 Aug 1939. He was married to Wilhelmina Rogers. William lost his foot in a railroad accident and eventually lost his leg. He worked for the NYC Railroad in the garage. He did use a wooden leg to get around. He and his wife "Minnie" had 5 children: Dorothy, Hazel, Nelson, Herbert, and Margaret. I am told his father is William Reichert. Does anyone have a connection to this family?

Reichert Family

Hello, I discovered that my family roots came from the Reichert surname. Here is my family story from my fathers side. John Frederick Reichert born in 1679 in Ausbury Germany came over to the United States in 1700 or 1703 with Captain Daniel Falkner. John Frederick became naturalized on Sept 25, 1740. He had a son named John Jacob Reichert (born 1725) who changed the name of Reichert to Richards in 1750. John Jacob Richards had a son named George Washington Richards (born 1759, Rockingham Co., VA which is now Pendleton Co., WV). George married Catherine Bush on July 28, 1788 in Harrison Co., They had a son named Elias Coleman Richards (born Oct 11, 1810, WV) who married Sarah Ellen Jones on May 7, 1835. They had a son named Jessie Jason Richards (born April 20, 1840 Wood Co., WV) who married Sarah Ellen Stewart (1st marriage) and then he married Margaret Jane Elder. They had a son named Thomas R. Richards (born April 6, 1873, WV) who married Berthena Vercina Dotson on August 10, 1893 in Ritchie Co., WV. They had a son named Edward G Richards (born August 27, 1896 Ritchie Co., WV who is my grandfather. He had 6 children, Evelyn (born March 31, 1921), Dorothy (born feb 2, 1923), Edward G. Richards Jr (born april 3, 1924, my father), Robert (born sept 7, 1925), Francis (born Aug 16, 1929) and Howard (born Sept 24, 1930. My fathers name was Edward Gilbert Richards (born April 3, 1924 in Phildelphia and died June 27, 1978 in Gainsville Florida). I am his daughter Penny Elizabeth Richards.

Isabell,
Thanks for the reply. My husband, Allan, and I would welcome information on Dorothy Holderie. We do not have any additional information on Jacob F.'s line in Germany either.

I established Allan's line for FL Pioneer on several of his FL lines: REICHERT, BRYAN, and a couple of others which I would need to look up. It has been a long time ago!

Allan is designed from Jacob F.Se., down to Avril Conrad REICHERT, Allan's dad. I would need to look back at my records to provide you with the correct information.

I am "off" my volunteer job on WED. so, I will review my notes and get back with you. I am retired but have not done any "roots" work in years.

I am afraid this is not much help but I have a similar person. Mine is a Christian Reichert born in Germany. He emigrated from Baden. He arrived in New Orleans in January 1855. He apparently died before 1860 because the St. Louis City directory of that year shows his wife as the widow of Christian Reichert. I don't think he is your person though because he has children born in 1846. I estimate my Christian Reichert was born about 1817. Nevertheless there were Reicherts in Baden. My Christian's wife's maiden name was also Reichert. I have found a lot of Reicherts, but no trace of a Christian.

Re: Willam Reichert of St. Louis - answer my own question

Having heard no replies I have been able to find out some information about the St. Louis Reichert family. So that anyone else can use this information I will lay out what I have found so far. If anyone has better information I would love to hear from you.

Wilhelm Reichert was born in Baden June 6, 1847, the son of Christian Riechert. Christian Reichert was married to Katherina Elizabetha Riechert, but not clear if she was William's mother or step mother. William had a brother Ludwig born about 1846. This information comes from the German emigration records. The date of the emigration is shown as 1851, but this is probably an error and should be 1854.

The family arrived in New Orleans in January 1855 aboard the ship Gosport.

The family settled in St. Louis by 1860 and is shown on the census and Kennedys City Directory. Christian died sometime between 1855 and 1860 as Katherina is shown in Kennedy's as his widow. The census identifies her two sons as William and Louis.

William Reichert married Magdelana Ost, daughter of George Ost and Johanna Schilling. William had at least six children, including one named William.

William died in 1927.

His mother(?), the real object of my search, remains a bit of a mystery.

Again, this is what I have found but if anyone has a contrary opinion I would love to hear. I know that at one point some direct descendants participated in this message board.

They left Germany about 1849. They settled in New Berglolz, Niagara County, NY. That is about all I know beside the names of their children (Christian, Johanna).

If you have ANY info it would be most appreciated.
I have hit a dead end in my hunt and I am hoping someone else might have some info on Christian Reichert b.1835 in Germany. Immigrated to NY sometime after 1850. Married Aliza (Eliza) Pechtel b March 1839. Aliza immigrated to NY in 1854 and per census she was born in Prussia or Germany. They lived in Jersey City, Hudson, NJ and are on most of the census records for the time period of 1860-1900 along with their children.

Can anyone help me with info on Christian? I can't find any info on him such as actual immigration date or any family such as parents or siblings.

Hi NNickolaus1!

I appreciate your response! No, it doesn't appear that our Christian Reicherts are the same. Mine was born in Wurttemberg and after immigrating here (some slim evidence he came in through NY) he spent the rest of his life in NY and NJ. His children were all born between 1862-1876 and the last census showing him was 1880 NJ. In 1900 his wife is on the census as "widow". Good luck to us both in our continuing searches for our elusive Christian Reichert's!

Charlaynep

REICHERT, Jonas

I recently came across a birth and baptism certificate. After having it translated from German, it seems the certificate is for Jonas Reichert, son of Henrich Reichert and his wife Margretha Weber. Jonas was born 7 Feb 1822 and baptized 31 Mar 1822 by Mr. Mehnig in Manheim Township, Schuylkill, PA. Witnessed by Abraham Luckenbill and his wife Eva Elizabeth. My maternal ggg grandfather married Esther Reichard (1850-1907), but I haven't been able to connect Esther to any other Reichard/Reichert. Does anyone have any information about Jonas or his parents?

Reicherts in Rohrbach, Ukraine

I'm looking for a Konrad Reicheret, born in Rohrbach around 1861. He had a son named Albert Reichert, born August 15, 1915. Albert married Paulina Philip, born in 1919. No idea if they had any children. Albert also had brothers Jacob (1904-1911) and Friedrich (1907-1907) and a sister Magdalena (1909-1911). I don't know if there were other surviving children. Any help appreciated!

I do have some information on the descendants of Andreas and Eva Reichert, who went to Rohrbach from Weingarten, Germany. If I can be of any help, please let me know!

Benjamin Hertzel

Christian F. Reichert married to an Irish woman before 1897

I think this man wasmy grandfather and had two marriages: first a woman from the same town inGermany (WU) who bore 5 cildren, and then to my "grandmother". The only name I have ever heard for her is Emma from Dublin, Ireland. They had I believe only one child, my father, George Frederick Reichert born 1897.

Thank you.

I am guessing that would be a grandfather to the Christian I'm looking for. Until I get info on him, I can't go any further backwards to "your" Christian. I didn't know there were so many Christians and Georges.

Sometimes it looks like they only knew 2 or 3 names, and I'd think almost all of the Christian Fredericks are related to each other somehow.

If I could just get a date of birth for my grandfather; guess I'll have to make a trip to a cemetery where he's buried....but I can't remember the name of it!
Brenda

Yes this famly did settle in Monticello, Jefferson County, Florida. A lot of the family still live in Boston and Thomasville, GA (a small community that is called Reichertville) and Monticello. I live in Stuart, FL but from the same Reichert family. I also have a complete genealogy of the family. My email address is ischenk2@comcast.net or telephone number 772-287-0375.

I have a record of Dorothy Holderle's family but not much on Jacob's family.I went to the library in Vero Beach and found a film strip that someone had to make in order to become a Florida Pioneer. This information has to be correct in order to be able to become a pioneer. I went back to Dorothy's ggg grandparent (I think). I see you live in St. Augustine and I am not too far down the coast in Stuart (just north of West Palm Beach). Which part of the family are you from? I haven't lookied at the family tree to see if Burghdorf is in there. Keep in touch and maybe we can compare our trees to see what the difference if any. Maybe I have something that you don't have.

Isabell Schenk
Hi Gwen,

I am also like you, when I retired 11 years ago I went wild on the family history and soon burned out. It is so interesting to me to find someone new or a little more information but I have it all in the computer and on disk so until I get another urge.

I noticed in some of the research that a Gwen Reichert's name was on some of the documents that I found in Monticello I believe. Maybe the census forms Was that you?

I have also been exchanging some information with Carl King who shared his stuff with me and I gave him what I had. I was able to find the names of Dorothy's sisters and brothers and her ggg grand parents (names only) from the record from the (I believe I remember correctly) Presbyterian church where Jacob and Dorothy were married.

Maybe some day we can plan a visit to meet each other and compare notes.

Nice talking with you and have a great week.

Isabell (Reichert) Schenk

Please let me know any further information you have about the O'Mealy or Wiesenauer line. What I posted originally was as much as I had found. John's wife was Catherine O'Mealy, who came with her family from Canada, but we do not have Catherine's lineage. My grandmother was Katherine Clara Wiesenauer (John and Catherine's daughter), who married my grandfather Arlow Hager.
