Hi, I think we are probably related. Ferdinand Reichow from Germany (settled in Milwaukee) had a brother Fredrick Reichow who is my great great grandfather. (who married an Augusta ) I thought Ferdinad's wife was Bertha...so Im not exactly sure....let me do some research and get back with you.

Hi Nancy - I saw your message about the Reichows and got very excited. I immediately e-mailed my sister, Bunny, and asked her if it was Uncle Bill. She said yes, and I guess she was excited about it too because I see that she already sent you a note. Our grandmother, Ida Reichow, was Bill's sister, so he's actually our great-uncle. Our father, Walter Kloske, was his nephew. How are you related to them? Where do you live now? None of us live in Milwaukee anymore, but my brother and another sister live in Wisconsin. I'm in New Jersey.

There is an Augusta Reichow in my family...but I believe back in Hamburg Germany. At least Im positif there was a Gustof.....married Amanda Mankey and had a son Fredrick who traveled to Milwaukee Wisoconsin. Fredrick would have been my great grandfather............my grandfather was Warren who did quite a bit of family research. He died in the 80's but did not believe there were many Reichows in Milwaukee.

Rita: I really don't have a lot of information for you about Betty's decendents. Dick Reichow died in 1966, only 6 years after Betty. Kathy married Orville Crouch and they had three boys. They lived in Kentucky for many years and then returned to Michigan where they lived in the Marshall/Battle Creek area (I believe). I would guess Kathy passed away 4-5 years ago, but I don't have the exact date. I do know she is buried at Riverside Cemetery in Albion but I don't know the block number of her grave. My dad, sister and I ran into one of her sons and his wife and two children on Memorial Day, but because we never really formed any relationship with them it was only a "hello, how are you" kind of meeting. I remember Betty as a very pretty woman. I do have the Mass Card from her funeral that my Grandma Reichow saved if that's something you would care to have for her sister. I'm in the process of going through boxes and boxes of photos which I'm sure will include early photos of Dick, Betty and Kathy. I would be happy to share any with you if you'd like. your message was posted a long time ago. I am Cindy Reichow Horvath and Kathy was my cousin. My father's brother was Richard Reichow who married Elizabeth (Betty) Helmer. They had two children -- Kathy, and a stillborn son named Francis Richard.

Let me know if you are still searching. I have the original mass card from Betty's funeral...

My father was Vincent Michael Reichow born in Milwaukee. He had a sister Elizabeth Reichow Marchese and a brother George Reichow who both were born and lived in Milwaukee. Their father was Herman Reichow. I don't have any other information on Grandpa Reichow. If you have information which may link the two families please let me know. I live in Rochester, MN.

I am researching the Reichow family's that came to St. Paul, Mn in the 1800's. My linage starts with Ferdinand Reichow who married Alvina Peglow in 1870 in St. Paul. They Had Charles1871-1957, Otto, George 1876-1915, Edward 1879-1954, and Ella. See www.reichows.com If you have gedcom files on your reichow linage I will post them with mine.

I have a some records on the Stavseth and Leo family
from Norway, and even visted the house they lived in before
they emigrated - in Bergen - 1891/1892.

I have also contact with the Stavseth family (Finnmark,Norw.)
Sophie (Stavseth) Unke is located with excellent help of
the Unke family in Minneapolis.

There is no trace of 2 brothers in the US - except where
they planned to go upon arrival.

Would you or your sisters be interested in copies of these
records?

Herman and Josephine does not exist in records of
death certificates in the state of Minnesota.
These are investigated by individual request, and today
all certificates for the state are searchable.

These are useful, dates and places could lead to a
local newspaper notice about the person for more information.

I have very little info about the family after they left Norway.

I have nothing about Vera / Elvira and nothing about
Eleonora, who is born in Vardoe.
Who they married and where they settled would be a good start.

I did try to contact you on the e-mail adress - do you have
another e-mail adr.?

My father is Donald James, only son of Rose and Max Reichow from Wisconsin Dells then to Minneapolis. Grandma died in 1976 after a stroke. Max died when Dad was very young. Dad is in Largo, FL. I have two younger sisters, Heidi and Karla.

Saw a note from Nancy who was looking for relatives of Bill and Viola. They were my aunt and uncle and lived near 2nd and Mitchell Streets in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They had 2 daughters. The Leo family emigrated from Bergen, Norway to the

Looking for Reichow lineage

I'm glad there are other Reichows out there looking.

I have a Paul Reichow who is a great uncle(my name is Paul as well). He lived in Oklahoma, died in 1976 at the age of 101.

He was one of four children born to Wilhelm Reichow who came to america 1880 from Koslin Germany(now Poland?). The other three children of Wilhelm are Anna? Frank, and William Herman, who is my great grandfather.

I would appreciate any advice from people who have searched Germany/Poland for Reichow ancestors.
