Johann Reiter marriage 1840

The Poznan Project (Google can find it for you) has the following marriage listed:

Protestant Community in Margonin, entry #6 in 1840.
Johann Reiter age 49.
Anna Catharine Barz nee Weidemann age 44.

My grt grandparents Carl Gustav and Auguste Rosentreter came to America in 1881 on the ship "Oder" with an Emilie Ritter. Auguste's maiden name was either Weidemann or Bluwernick. Her mother was married twice. Auguste's sister Louise married a Herman Schneider.
I've been trying to get the relationship straight for years.
If you have info on how some of the above may be related to a Rosentreter I'd sure like to hear about it.
Thanks, Sharon Sue Harris Marvin

Robert & Sebastian Reiter

Robert & Sebastian Reiter came to the US via the Port of NY on 8/29/29 from Bremen Germany on the ship Berlin. I do not know their relationship,(although I suspect they are brothers) but they were both born in Munich. Robert Wolfgang was born 11/21/1906. He came to the US as an indentured servant, but the person who was to indenture him never showed up at the dock. He ended up in NYC and worked his way up from a dishwasher to banquet manager at a well known NYC hotel. Later married, became a farmer and raised a family in NJ.

I know less about Sebastian....I think I found him in the 1930 census in Union City NJ, and also in the SSDI born 5/8/1904 and died 4/1968, but this is a guess.

Would like to hear from anyone who may have come across either of these two and who may know what their relationship might have been, who were their parents, and about Sebasitan's life and family after coming to the US.

I have ordered social security applications (ss-5)for both Robert and Sebastian, so hopefully will be able to determine if they were indeed brothers.

Joan

My g-grandfather Nicholas was originally born in Luxembourg with the surname Reuter. His parents and siblings were Reuter. For some unknown reason he changed it to Reiter before emigrating to America. Thus far (as much as I have been able to determine) all of his descendants have kept the surname Reiter.

I have not found any of his descendants in Wisconsin to date. However, I don't think any are left in the LaSalle County, IL area either.

My gr grandfather Edward Reiter settled in Shawano, Co,WI, he was born in Prussia about 1843 or 1846 and landed at the port of Baltimore about November, 1871. A cousin said that the name had been Reuter, but a lawyer in America changed the spelling to Reiter, I have no proof of that. When he died he is said to have been survived by 1 brother and 3 sisters, I believe 1 sister was Emma Reiter, married to John Hunt, of Chicago. Emma may have had daughters named Emily , Harriet, Clara Arthur and Hulda. Hulda was married to a distant cousin William Reiter, they had daughters Minnie, Ruth and Virginia and a son named Harold Any Reiter information would be most helpful.

I have found Magdalena Rolzhuaser and husband Jacob Reider, Reiter, or Rider in the 1920 and 1930 census in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan. Jacob came to America in 1907, Magdalena came in 1907. Where are they in 1910? The 2 eldest children are born in New York in 1909 and 1910. But I do not find them in New York. Magdalena Rolzhauser is from Parabutsch, Austria- Hungary. Where is Jacob from in Austria? Does any one have city dirctory for Detroit? I understand he owned a meat market on Cadillac and Shoemaker. Thanks.

Hello
Isn't that town very near Landau an der Isar? It is likely that we are related in some way. My great-grandfather was Josef Reiter born Mettenhausen 1857 (very near Landau)and settled in Brooklyn NY. His death certificate says his father was named Georg Reiter and mother was Anna Altmannshofer. She apparently died and Georg married again to Theresa Brant Luber and had another son by the name of Johann born 1865 who came to America as well and a daughter named Krescenz who stayed in Germany and married Alois Achter. Genealogy notes show that there were other siblings who came to America and settled in other States (names unknown). My Georg is probably not your Georg Reiter but they must be related in some way.
