REMINGTON or REMMINGTON of Nuneaton, WAR, England

Classification: Query
Surnames: REMINGTON, DUFKIN, DUFFKIN
Seeking ancestry of Anna Maria REMINGTON who married Samuel DUFKIN of Chilvers Coton (S Nuneaton), Warks on 10.11.1762 at Holy Trinity, Coventry.
Name could be REMINGTON, REMMINGTON or RIMINGTON. Warwick RO gives surname as BENNINGTON, but original entry is REMINGTON.
LDS gives name as BENINGTON. The Hardwicke Holy Trinity microfilm registers at Coventry RO gives REMINGTON (marriage by licence). Bedworth Genealogical Society list of strays gives REMMINGTON for marriage entry.

REMINGTON is in the 1544 survey of Nuneaton. They are also in the Hearth Tax and one Edmund REMINGTON was recorded as having 5 hearths between 1663 and 1666 when the property was empty, plus arrears for 1 hearth in 1664. A Thomas REMINGTON had 1 hearth and then built another two in 1670 (then mis-spelt RIMINGTON). It looks like he had a son Edward REMINGTON. In 1676 Edward REMINGTON was living in Wash Lane on the very border of Chilvers Coton and Nuneaton parish.

Suggestions that a family is local and probably wealthy farmers having large buildings.

Any input appreciated.
