YOUNG COUPLE WED WEDNESDAY; TO RESIDE HERE
Mr John Cushman and Miss Elizabeth Remmel United in Marriage.
Miss Elizabeth Harriet Remmel, daughter of the late H. L. Remmel and Mrs. Bessie Cameron Remmel, of Little Rock, Arkansas, and John Byron Cushman, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Cushman of this town were united in marriage here on Wednesday evening, June 17th, at 8:00 o'clock; Rev. J. H. Gardner, pastor of the Presbyterian church, performed the nuptual ceremony.
The attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Grant.
The bride was becomingly gowned in a white dress with matching accessories and her bridesmaid wore a flowered dress and white shoes.
The bride attended high school in Little Rock and was later graduated from Monticello Seminary, Godfrey, Illinois. Mr. Cushman has always resided in Fort Covington and completed his education at the local high school. He is now associated with his father in farming.
Incidentally, the groom is the third generation of the Cushman family, antecedants of whom were pioneers of Fort Covington, to bring his bride to the old homestead. His grand-parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Millard and Jennie A. Cushman, were married on June 18, 1878. On November 28, 1906 Mr. Howard Cushman and Nellie B. Eagen were married here by Rev. J. H. Gardner and have since lived at the Cushman farm home.
After a wedding trip to New York City and Nyack, N. Y., the later place at the home of the groom's brother, Mr. Arthur Cushman, the young couple will make their home on the Cushman farm.
Appeared in the Fort Covington Sun, Thursday, 25 June 1936, p. 3
