I have a precious memory of my mother reading a book to me about a storm cloud gathering, which I think represents the Mennonites fleeing Russia. A little boy is afraid, gets caught in the storm and then a beautiful cloud with the sun behind it sings "Wake up Little Dee Gee and come follow me". The book was beautifully illustrated and I have been searching for it for 10 years. After seeing a clipping in the Bluffton News, my former hometown paper, I recognized a photo of art by Deiedrik Rempel and somehow that rang a bell. The art was of a horse stomping on a Russian soldier, I think. I am wondering if Rempel was the author. I was quite young when this was read to me. I do not know the title, but Dee Gee seems ingrained in my head. My brother had those inititals, and I think that my mother would sing a comorting song from the book about Dee Gee. Does anyone know to what I am referring? If so, PLEASE contact me via email. Thanks so much, as I am getting older, and I would love to know more about this beautiful memory that I don't think I am imagining.
