I've recently resumed looking at any and all Renfro/Renfroe names in Decatur Co., in an effort to try to connect to my already researched Renfroe names from Henderson and Roane Counties, TN.

In gathering information, I've become stumped with NATHANIEL RENFRO, and hope someone can clarify who he belongs to.

In the 1850 Decatur Co. census, I find Nathaniel RENFRO (b. abt 1805, TN), with a wife, ALMINA (b. abt 1822), and children: Joshua (b. abt 1842), Wm. H. (b. abt 1845), Sarah J. (b. abt 1847), and Nancy C.(b. abt 1849).

I have not found them yet in 1860, but:

In 1870 & 1880 Decatur Co, there is a Nathaniel RENFRO (b. abt 1811, TN), with wife, SARAH (b. abt 1833, TN), and children: William H.,(b. abt 1848 or 1850), Catherine (b. abt 1852), Hannah L. (b. abt 1864), Mark (b. abt 1866), Harriett E. (b. abt 1867), Martha (b. abt 1870), Nathaniel W. (b. abt 1872), Joanna (b. abt 1875) and Sophia (b. abt 1876).

Are these two men the same Nathaniel RENFRO (slightly different ages), with two different wives, and questionable children's names? If they truly were two different men (b. abt 1805 and abt 1811), then who were "Nathaniel"(s) parents? I'm having a problem fitting them into a definite family.
