I just found out from my connection that the Gordon Reno I was thinking of was married to a Roberta Snow but he isn't the Gordon Reno that died in dearborn in 1983. He was living in Texas and might still be. Waiting to hear more from that family member along with a photo of Gordon. I have many photos of that family including Gordons siblings, parents and grandparents along with cousins.

Been in contact with his family and she just sent me jerry's marriage record showing his parents name so I know I have the right person and would gladly send it to you if this is your family. Thanks for the source. I'll add it to the many I already have. Are you related to Jerry Reno? You can write me direct at dalerenaud@wowway.com

I already wrote this lady direct but will post for others looking for a Jerry Reno and hope it's who you're looking for. The Jerry Reno I'm writing about was living in Delta county in Michigan and shows up in the 1910,20 and 30 US census. His real name was Jeremie Renaud b 5 Aug 1883 in Precott county in Quebec. His parents were Alphonse Renaud and Emelie Mainville. Alphonse married Emelie after is first wife Mary Louise mainville passed and he married her sister. You can find the family minus Alphonse in the 1901 Canada census living in Buckingham, Labelle, Quebec, Canada. Hope this helps

I do see a Gordon Reno in my tree that fits your Gordon Reno that died in Dearborn MI. I have a birth date that's only has abt 1921 and won't add anything more till I'm sure it's him, from maybe his family. I have his parents as Albert Joseph Reno & Laura Rose Antaya. I'm familiar with that line of Reno/Renaud's because the family settled in Trenton MI where I live and in contact with that family. I'll dig into it a little more and see if he married a Snow

I have another person with his marriage record under Jerry Reno showing his parents as Alphonse Renaud & Emelie Mainville. I can send you a copy of the birth if you would like? I could also send you the 1901 Canada census with his family? Other than that I don't know what to say

Is this the same lineage of the Reno brother's that came over with Napolean? I don't know much, except that my mom told me of the brothers who came over and fought alongside him. Then, their descendants became outlaws in the midwest. I've learned a little more of them b/c I volunteer at a living history musuem in Wichita, KS.
Thanks,
MEL

Pittsburgh Renos

This is a longshot post, but it seems I am descended from an obscure Reno branch. Any info to the following would be helpful/allow me to sleep at night:

I am the great-granddaughter of David Francis Reno of Pittsburgh (1892-1932), who had a brother Frank Lapier Reno (1889-1965). It seems their father was Benjamin Minnis Reno (1859-1917), and their mother was Sarah Manion of a very large Manion family of Irish Catholic origins. Sarah Manion died sometime before 1900.

Trouble is, I can't find Benjamin Reno in the census records before 1900-- anywhere. Meanwhile, a mysterious George Reno, born in 1885, appeared in 1900 and never appeared anywhere else. My suspicions are that he is yet a third brother of David Francis and Frank Lapier and died young, but who knows.

Anyone have any connections to this renegade Benjamin Minnis Reno? If it helps, he married a Winefred R. shortly after 1900, and she had three children from a previous marriage, last name of Bracken.

None of my Renos seem to have ventured far from Pittsburgh, but any theories would be helpful. Thanks!

Samantha Reno

I am searching years previous to 1860-- not sure if the Henry Hultz Reno that keeps showing up in my searches is one and the same.

Thanks!

Fancy-Damewood hist. of Reno-Reneau family moved ?

I tried to access Stephen Fancy + Sue Damewood's online genealogy of the Reno-Reneau family. I am a long time contributor of info on my line and wanted to see if anything new had been posted in the year (or two? or three?) since I had last checked out my line. Instead I reached a pay site that said the info was no longer available. Surely that wonderful research by all our family members hasn't been lost. Can anyone give me the url to access it now?

I would LOVE to have ALL of the information you have on the Reno family. I have been searching for something on them for years. My husband's gggrandfather was Joseph Peltier who married Elizabeth Reno, daughter of Anthony Reno and Catherine Forton. I have been fortunate enough to trace the peltier side back to 1540 France and would love to go back as far as I can with the Reno side. Thank you so much.
Re: Susannah Thorn & John Reno

Hey Grama,
Looks like I should check the message boards a bit more often. Our Thoen Network is still working hard on finding where our Wm Thorn, father of Susannah Thorn/Reno, of PWC came from. We are discovering a number of "New" Thorn's, we had not known about in VA in the late 1600's. However they just don't seem to be the one we are looking for. So we are still stuck about 1717ish in Stafford Co, just before Susannah is born. Wm Thorn, just shows up & marries the widow Mary Orear. Though I THINK that they knew one an other from before. My Wm Thorn leased land at Brent Town & Many researchers say that Margaret Orear was born at Brent Town. Si I think Wm Thorn, John Orear & Mary Orear, knew each other from there. The Orear's bought "Cloverfield" in 1710 & I would bet apples to doughnuts that that is where Susannah Thorn was born.
SEND ME A NOTE WHEN YOU GET A CHANCE, we also have DNA working & we are not related to the NY Thorn's.

Smith C RENO is listed in the 1890-1 Tiffin OH City Directory. Smith, sons Frank and Herbert RENO are listed in the 1892-3 Tiffin City Directory at 386 Water St. and in the 1895-96 Tiffin City Directory all 3 are listed at 159 Sandusky St.
In the 1899-1900 Muncie City Directory, "Ella Reno, widow of Smith C" is listed. Sons, Frank, Herbert, and William are all list in this Muncie Directory.
Therefore Smith C Reno died between 1896 and 1899, probably in Tiffin, OH. The Renos worked at Tiffin Glass Co and in Muncie, at Ball Bros Glass Co.

I need a lot more information on the Reno side of my family. My dad's father, Robert Fitzgerald Reno, was born in Knoxville, TN (11/1925)and ended up moving his family to Detroit, Michigan after serving in the Army (married a woman from Harlan, Kentucky). The only other thing I know about him is that his mother's name was Martha. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
