Hi I have two separate Rentons in my tree.

William Renton Blacksmith and Bellhanger of Gorbals Glasgow
who was born outside of Lanarkshire. According to the 1841 census was born around 1786. I know he had a brother called Archibald as he left him 5 pounds in his will.

He married Margaret Nixon in Glasgow in 1805 their first son John was born in Edinburgh.

His daughter Mary Renton married a Robert Thomson (occ. Lathesplitter) whose parents were Charlotte Renton and James Thomson (also a Lathesplitter) both of Edinburgh. Charlotte moved to Montrose around 1830.

Charlotte is the daughter of John Renton and Mary Fairlie of Gladsmuir, E Lothian.

I have no evidence that William Renton and Charlotte Renton were related in any way. However there may have a connection as William and Margaret had another daughter after Mary who was called Charlotte, who was born well before Mary and Robt married.

Does anyone have either of these two people in their own families.
