Hello,
Is there anyone out there related to the St Colomb / St Columb Rescorlas?

I believe I am a descendent of a William Rescorla, born around 1833 in St Columb, Cornwall. He appears in the UK 1861 Census as a police constable in King Street, London, and seems to be a widower by then (age 29). He next appears in the 1871 Census married to my ggg-grandmother Louisa who was born in the district of Westminster. By that stage he is a brewer's labourer and his wife is a 'female searcher at a police station'. I am interested in their daughter Emma Florence, who was 9 in the 1881 Census. By 1887 she has had a child, Louisa Frances, and on the birth certificate states her profession as 'hairdresser'. I deduce from this she was probably pretty. (If she had black hair this would explain the family myth since then that we are of Italian ancestry, but I digress). She married Thomas William Turner. Aged 23 Louisa Frances married my great Grandfather Percy Spicer who, on their wedding day on the 8th February 1910, gave his profession (aged 27) as a greengrocer's assistant. They had a number of girls and boys, including my grandmother, and great aunts Grace (96) and Mary (80s) who are both still alive (photo attached from Grace's 96th birthday last Saturday, 9th April 2011). My grandmother was Emma, their sister (now deceased). Interestingly my cousin, Emma's grandson Sean, now lives in St Austel. His uncle, Emma's son Roy, went to live their after WWII. So it's as if part of the family has found its natural home in Cornwall.

Any connections would be very interesting indeed.

Hi I am a decendent of an Esther Rescorla who was born on 25 August 1799 in Lostwithiel, Cornwell and who married a Thomas Crabb. Esther has a brother Jonathon who was baptised about 1802. Esther was my GGG Grandmother and am chasing any information for my family tree.
Regards, Debbie

I'm not a relative, but I was surfing the message boards on Ancestry and stumbled across this one. You all may be related to one of the many heroes of September 11, Rick Rescorla. He was born in Cornwall, fought in Vietnam, and died on 9/11 saving others from the buildings.

Here's his website: http://www.rickrescorla.com/

As far as I can tell, my Rescorla's were centered pretty much in St.Blazey & Tywardreath, but that doesn't mean they didn't have relatives in surrounding areas - do you know who some of your ancestors were, and where they were from? That would be the first place to start to see if we're related anywhere.

Thanks,
Kim
