I am looking for Retzloff families. My grandfather, WILLIAM EDWARD GUSTAV Retzloff (May28,1884-1935) , emigrated to Provost, Alberta about 1910, from Sanborn, New YorkGandfather. His parents were GUSTAV CARL FREDRICK Retzloff (changed from RETZLAFF at some point) - Oct 11, 1850-1934, and JOHANNA MARIA ELIZABETH WALCK ( born in Wallmow of Prenslau, Germany; emigrated on, or about, Oct. 30, 1843 to Sanborn, New York). Gustav's father was also named GUSTAV, married to MONICA VOLK. I was told by
my father that his father William, had originally moved to Devil's Lake, North Dakota, to work for an Uncle George, who was a carpenter. There he purchased his tools from Uncle George, and moved on to Canada. I queried my cousins in New York, but nobody had heard of this George. They also had no
further knowledge of names of other RETZLAFF family members who had come to USA. My father said they had come to avoid the draft.
