Hi I have just found that William and Joan were my 7 x Great Grandparents and came from Heavitree in Devon.I go up through the line of John Rew and Ann Ley who were parents of Peggy Rew who was mother to Peggy Rew bn 1791 who married Thomas Hooper who had Walter Frederick Hooper who married Eliza Balman (bn Huish Somerset) who had Eliza Hooper bn c1847 who married George Brenham who had my Greta Grandmother Eliza Brenham. Are any of these names familiar to you?

If you have a member ship on Ancestry.com all of this info is on there because Rick put it on there all the way back to the 1700's it is in the world family tree and you have to pay extra to get in that part, Once you get into that part just pull up Myrtle Viola Rew and it should all com up for you..... If you have any more questions let me know .

The REW family to which I belong has been in the United States since about 1650 and I have never traced this family from wherever they emigrated. Another REW family that came to the US early is based in North Carolina and not sure how far back they have taken their roots. Sorry I could not help.

My G/Mother Alice Rew was born to a Thomas Chilcott, & Bessie Versey of 23 Clevland St..
The Chilcotts had 10 children ,
Clara , who married a Mr webb , they in turn had 3 children , Thomas,Marian , and Muriel..

Elizabeth died aged 3 wks in 1881.

Emily- not known

Bessie who married a Frederick Nott , they had 3 children ,Trevour Stanley, Una Veysey .Thomas .

Mary who married a Ernest Avery , they had 2 children ,
Doreen & Ernest.

Thomas died 1918 aged 28yrs

Charlotte married a William Parsons , NO FAMILY

Susan married a Charles Cornish - NO FAMILY

John married a Beatrice Bawden, they had 10 children .

Alice married a Charles Grenville Rew , they had 1 child , Sylvia who married Flt/Lt Brian Randall , ( my parents )

I'm looking for any information about Ira Rew. According to the 1851 Canadian census he was born abt. 1823 in the United States. In 1851 he was residing in Gainsborough, Lincoln County, Ontario, Canada. A David Rew born abt. 1809 also in the United States was residing in the same county. A Daniel Rew and a George Rew born abt. 1810 and 1811 but in Canada also resided there. Any help anyone could offer concerning these men would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Am interested in Emma (Monna) Loreine REW, b. 27 Jun 1917, Whitman Co WA, daughter of Lucian/Lucien/Louis/Luie Ernest REW, b. 21 Oct 1887, WA, and Edna PRESNALL, b. 1893/4 MO. Their other children were Welby L. b. 3 May 1913, WA; Thelma E., b. abt 1915, WA: Velna, b. abt 1916, WA; and Truman Luie, b. 2 May 1919, Spokane Co WA. Lucian was the son of John C. and Evaline REW.

I believe the above Emma was married 4 Oct 1934, Yakima WA, to Lloyd B. FOSTER, b. 10 Jul 1910, Dallas, Polk Co OR. Any info on this couple would be much appreciated.

Hi Sue, To tell you the truth I am really struggling with one line of my family tree and under no circumstances can I find Edward Rew b.1874 who married Elizabeth Small b. 1875 on the 19.6.1901 in St.Lawrence, Thanet ,Kent on any census or other details whatsoever. The information you have could potentially fit in with some things. What other info do you have? If you have dates and places that would be a great help in matching up. My grandparents 6 or 7 times back were William Rew and Joan Bridle, does that fit in with anything you have?

Hello I am looking for information on a Arthur Rew born in Laurencekirk Kindcardinshire abt 1827.His father was William Rew and mother was Isabella Smith. He was married twice firstly to Rose Logan of whom I beleive had several children and then to a Rosetta lynn. They lived and died in Dumbarton Scotland. We corresponded in April 2000--census has since supplied info that Ovid married at age 69 and Mary at age 51, so they married about 1927 and with what you knew that is about all I know except the rest of his family tree. Don't have exact birth or death dates. Any help with this?

This is too coincidental.My family of Rews came west via Boone Cty,IL in the 1840's and then to Dodge Cty,WI by 1849 and then back to IL by 1855.
Cannot find any land records of Rew in Boone Cty,IL.Marilyn Reynolds and I have tried to make this family connection--appears that we are getting closer.

Have corresponded with Mrs Charles Rew of Norwalk,OH for many years. Ancestry she gives is Perry Rew(1854-1927) Almeda Jane Wood.
Perry's death certificate says son of John and says Perry was born in Collins,NY (not verified).Still looking for the link to our Rew families.

I am a grandaughter of Ruby (Rew) Houtz. she married Edward Houtz of Niagara Falls. Had 2 Children Ruth Norton and my father Edward Jr. She passed away in 1980. Ruth had 4 children (1 died in a car accident) and edward had 2 girls. I remember aunt myrtle she lived with my grandfather for a little while before moving out to california (i think).

Andy, I dont see the message I sent you so i'll do this again. George Washington Rew and Agatha Thompson were married in Portsmouth,Virgnia. The year was 1865 Dec 12. This record is available In the Portsmouth Court of Hustings, Portsmouth, Virginia. Washington's parents are Southy and Elizabeth Rew.
Agatha's parents are Robert and Mary A. Thompson ..Found them buried in the Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk, Virginia. The price on the marriage is around $1.00. Hope this helps you. Gale

I'm trying to determine the correct ancestors for Thomas Rhue/Rew born 1785 NC and Sarah Rhue/Rew born 1779 NC (probably were siblings). They were in Orange County North Carolina by the 1790's. Sarah married Robert Ashley there in 1779. Thomas is in the 1800, 1820 to 1850 censuses. His son Thomas Jr. is also in Orange 1850.

There is a will for a Southey Rew who died in 1799 (saw on a posting) in Chatham NC and named his children including Thomas and Sarah. Is this connected to your Rew family by chance?

They had 4 children -: Robert (b.1841 m.1872 to Grace Bennett d. 1914) Mary (b. 1843 m. 1881 to William Bankier d.?) Isabella (b.1845 m. ? to John Reilly d. 1869) Christian (b.1848 m.1876 to Michael D Toner d.1933 also changed her name to Christina). William was a Major in the 90th Regiment of Foot.

Newpaper article: Democrat And Chronicle, Rochester, New York paper dated Jan 12, 1891 has a nice article on "Early Pioneers of Western New York and Their Sons."
Names in article, Ephraim Rew, Lot Rew, Henry A. Rew, Frank E. Rew, Frances Rew, Deacon John Adams, Thomas Morris, Oliver Phelps, James Gorham, Judge Atwater, John Greig, and others. Also mentions the name Hagermans of Kingston, Canada.

Boy, I don't know much on this family, but the year you gave me of 1872 makes William Edward younger then my G-G- father Alexander he w/ born abt 1845. I thank he may have been the there last child. In the 1861 census Alexander is 15 yrs. his father w/ 60 & Harriet w/ 62.
The name William keeps showing up in this family, Alexander had a son named William Johm born abt. 1878 in Bedwellty, Monmouth Wales. Jim, do you know any thing about the Rew family in the Backwell Church Records of 1756-1772 John Rew married Sarah Melther on April 5,1762 five (5) kids one w/ a William? I've got a Charlotte Rew from Somerset in my tree. Not the same line as yours but it is a name concentrated around Taunton if that is of any help. There is a collection of them in Scotland too.
