I am doing research on Jacob Rhudy's descendants through John Stephen Rhudy (1787), William J. Rhudy (1816) who married Charlotte Cornett, and Stephen Floyd Rhudy (1841) who married Thursa Ann Cornett. I have some certificates and other documentation and would love to trade research. Stephen Floyd moved to DeKalb, MO and then his son James moved on to Woodward, OK.

The marriage was Nov 16, 1879 in Floyd County, GA. The marriage license and her death certificate are both available at the Georgia Virtual Vault website.

Sarah Tallula Rhudy married Warren R. Youngblood, son of William Franklin Youngblood. Warren died prior to the 1910 census leaving wife and one daughter, Ellie. Sarah died in 1930 and her Georgia death certificate lists father as Steven Rhudy and mother as Mary Smith.

The first was Elizabeth Rhudy, who died in 1853.

The second was Elizabeth Jane Grubb.

He had children with both Elizabeths. :)

I have Cynthia as marrying Homer Abell in 1872. They show up in the 1885 Colorado Census, 1900 and 1910 in Missouri and then 1920 and 1930 in Idaho. I have the census records written up. If you need the info e-mail me at mrhudy@bellsouth.net.

Also I have not been able to find her in the 1870 or 1880 census. He you had any luck there.

I am still searching for information on Polly Rhudy my Great Great Grandmother. I know that she married George Newell Anderson from Grayson Virginia in 1838. Her Father is John Stephen Rhudy. I can't find any information on Her husband George Newell. Who is his Father and Mother? He followed Polly's Family from Virginia to Georgia. Polly died and he remarried her sister. I am just outside Louisville KY, but am originally from Florida. My father was born in Calhoun, GA and most of my Rhudy relatives are from LaFayette, GA.

I have that Stephen Thomas' parents were George Washington and Amy Comer Rhudy. He was born in Rome, GA 1843 and died in Texarkana, Texas 26 May 1918.

He started out as a Steam Engineer and lost his leg in a boiler explosion in 1869. He is a butcher in 1880 (Rome, GA) and in 1900 (Jefferson County, AL). In 1910 he is a huckster for vegetables and fruit in Garland, Miller County, Arkansas.

Does that match what you have.

I have a John Eli Rhudy born 1875 and Maud Genevieve (1876-1958) Married about 1895. In 1910 living in Chickasaw County, Mississippi. In 1920 living in Lamar County, Alabama. Have not found them in the 1930 Census yet.

She died 1958 in Bryan, Texas. Brownsville Herald newspaper dated 30 March 1958 Pg 15.

They had 7 children born between 1897 and 1914.

Yes I would be very interested in trading information. The only pictures I have are of my Grandfather Lewis Franklin Rhudy and some of his childrem, but would be happy to share them. I have been working on a Rhudy family narrative and a census table which trys to document every Rhudy I can find in the records in an organized fashion. I also have a family treemaker file with the information. If you can read PDF files I can send you some samples of the first two to look at via e-mail. The narrative is just over three hundred pages right now so even as a pdf it is 300MB.

I would be happy to mail you a CD with the completed document. I would appreciate any input you could provide on your branch.

If you would like to see a report out of FamilyTree Maker please let me know which one and I will send it via e-mail or CD.

Yes I have alot of information on the Rhudys from Virginia. Most of the Rhudy families in the US come from Jacob Rhudy (1754-1817). Rhudys went from Virginia to Georgia, Tennessee, Missouri, Indiana and Colorado. From Georgia some went to Alabama. The Mississippi Rhudys came from either Georgia/Alabama or maybe Missouri. Some from Missouri went to Nebraska and Kansas. From Nebraska some went to Washington State and California.

Amy,do you know which branch of the Rhudy family you come out of. There are several going back to the following: George Rhudy, born about 1850, George W Rhudy born about 1844. Also a number of the Georgia Rhudys moved into Alabama.

I come from Stephen Rhudy (1789-1863) who moved to Georgia from Grayson County in the 1850s. I have been working on a Rhudy narrative for the past year which attempts to put all the family pieces together. I would be interested in sharing a draft for any input you may have. My info so far is that he was from Brenna, Wayne County Nebraska and his parents were Pyott and Kissie. I believe that he had a brother Harry, also, and a sister, Helen.

Hi Charles. I am Michael R Rhudy and I come from the Georgia branch of the family. The Rhudy family originates in Virginia with Jacob Rhudy (1754-1817). They migrated to Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, Missouri and Texas in the 1850s. A large part of the family stayed in southwest Virginia. Your particular branch I don't have attached to the main tree. George W Rhudy's (1921-1989)father was Daniel Franklin Rhudy (1886-1969) and grandfather was George W Rhudy (1845-1931) from what I have. The latter George W may have come from Georgia, but I have not been able to link him yet.

Rhudy of Winfield,Al. .You will find lots of Rhudy's in Alabama and also in Mississippi, I also know of one in Texas. I hope this has helped you, I have searched for family in the past with little to no luck, it seems that most of the Rhudy's stick to there on little clan. The Stephen Thomas Rhudy [Thomas S Rhudy] family is living in Precinct 20, Jefferson County, Alabama. The family includes Thomas S Rhudy (age 57) [Apr 1843, Head], Laura C Rhudy (age 50) [Nov 1849 Wife], Etta Rhudy (age 15) [Aug 1884 Daughter], Lleyland Rhudy (age 12) [Jul 1887, Son] and Webster E Rhudy (age 11) [Oct 1888, Son]. Number of years of current marriage is 28 for Thomas and Laura (abt 1872). Laura is listed as mother of three children with three children living. [This appears to be wrong based on what we know of the family.] Thomas is a butcher. Everyone is listed as born in Georgia.

In 1910 they are living in Arkansas
The Stephen Thomas Rhudy [Steven T Rhudy] family is living in Garland, Miller County, Arkansas. The family includes Steven T Rhudy (age 67, abt 1843) [Head], Laura C Rhudy (age 62, abt 1848) [Wife], Lewie E Rhudy (age 22, abt 1888) [Son], Webster U Rhudy (age 21, abt 1889) [Son], Elizabeth K Pattillo (age 83, Abt 1827) [Mother in law], Walter Rhudy (age 10, abt 1900) [Grandson] and Ray Rhudy (age 9, abt 1901) [Grandson]. Number of years of current marriage is 37 for Stephen and Laura (abt 1873). This marriage is indicated as a second (M2) for Stephen and a first (M1) for Laura. Laura is listed as mother of nine children with seven children living. Stephen is a huckster for vegetables and fruit. Everyone was born in Georgia, except the grandsons who were born in Alabama. Elizabeth Pattillo is widowed and is mother of seven children with five children living.

Stephen Thomas Rhudy died in in 1918 in Texarkana TX. Laura died in 1914 in also in Texarkana.

I show they had 10 Children.

This is sort of off-topic, but my name is Chris Rhudy. I am interested in finding out more about the Rhudy family history. I'm sure if ours would be related, but my grandfather, James Calvin Rhudy, was raised around Tupelo, Mississippi. My father, jerry wayne Rhudy, was born in Tupelo.

Hi, I wished we knew how the people found out it was John and Mary. Do you know? My Aunt is 92 and she said it was John and Mary but some of our family doing research believe it is Jesse and Nancy Harper. My Aunt said that Jesse was either a brother or Uncle. I have looked everywhere and I can't find a John and Mary that have a son George Newell. Mabe some church records have it. I don't know what religion they were. These relatives visited Grayson virginia and said George Newell was listed on a census next to Jesse and so they thought that George Newell was Jesse's son. I just don't think so.

George Newell Anderson's parents were John Anderson and Mary ?. He was born in 1820 in Grayson and died Abt. 1898. He was supposed to be buried in Telco Cem., Enis, Ellis Co., Tx. (I do not have a source for this; but the person who gave this to me, has researched the Rhudys for many years.)

Polly Rhudy (1810-abt.1855) married George Newell Anderson (1820-abt.1898)in Grayson Co., VA Nov. 15, 1838. Polly Rhudy was the daughter of John Stephen Rudy. Anderson was buried in Telco Cemetery, Enis, Ellis Co., TX., but had lived in Rome, GA.
