In looking at your post, I was surprised to see the names.

My great grandfather was born in the Gastonia area on November 01, 1869, and his name was William Franklin Rhyne.

Hello! Kim. It has been a while since we corresponded about Lucinda and William Corse. Lucinda was a sister to my greatgrandmother Susan Hoffman who married Charles Corse, William's brother). After Charles died, Susan married Frank Davis. I have exchanged info with Pam as well. Too bad we can't all get together and pool our info. Long ago I sent you what I had on this family and of course have updated somewhat. Any chance we can exchange again. Desperate for pictures. Hope to hear from you soon. My ggg grandfather was Charles Csorse Sr., his son James Marion was my gg grandfather and his daughter Norma Elizabeth was my g grandmother. I am looking for any photos since Norma's children were given away when she died and my grandmother had no photos of her family. I welcome any help you can give. Thank you.

My great grandmother Lela Elvina Pyeatt dod 1969,was married to a J.C. Rhyne in Texas sometime before 1910 according to census records. Census records after that date state that she was widowed but family history states otherwise...my father was raised by her. She had 3 daughters by Rhyne as follows...Christine Rhyne(Stroup), Iberia Rhyne, Elzena Aldean(Beasley, Mills) and never married again. She moved to Portales New Mexico. I would appreciate any help you can provide. My father passed away in Jan 08 and I never met his father or mother. I just ran across your post about a reunion!

The National Rhyne Reunion will be 1st & 2nd Aug. 2008 at the Holy Communion Lutheran Church Dallas, N. C. Friday friends & family meet at church at 4 PM at 6PM we will go to restarent. Saturday Reunion will start at 9:30 AM in Educational Building there will be a catered lunch at $8.00 each, meeting will end about 3PM.

I'm pretty sure that all of the replies to my message are related to the Gaston, NC bunch. There is a reunion every year in Gaston in August.
All of the books mentioned are of the Rhyne families and other branches of the family.
Look under Family Hart web.

Not sure actually. I read a McClung family genealogy listing that lists all of the children as Warren and Margaret's but then it shows Warren marrying a 2nd time to a Matilda Barrett and the children being born after the marriage to Matilda????

Alice died in 1922 and I lost the trail on the Langley children from her first marriage after 1920.

Peter Rhyne Jr. was married to Catherine Best and lived in North Carolina.
Their daughter was Anna Rhyne married Samuel Redman in 1829.
Anna and Samuel came to Stoddard Co., MO from Lincoln Co., NC in the 1800's.

After checking my records Phillip B. Rhyne married Mattie McMichen 9 Apr 1905 Bartow County, Georgia ( source Bartow County Marriage book J page 369). I have 3 children for them Adab. abt 1906, Dean b. abt. 1908, & Augusta b. about 1911.

Hosea Ballou Rhyne born Aug 1849 Cherokee County, Georgia, died Jasper, Ga. he was son of John Philip Rhyne & Eliza Louise Pitts Rhyne. John Philip Rhyne b. 16 Jul 1811 Lincoln County, NC d. 21 Feb 1875 Cherokee County, Ga bur. Briar Patch Cemetery, Cherokee County, Ga. He married Eliza Pitts 17 Oct 1833 Habersham County, Ga. John Philip Rhyne was son of Jacob Rhyne & Caty Stroup.

In July 1997 when the Hartman's published their book on Rhyne Family there was no information on descendants of Phillip B. Rhyne put in the book. The National Rhyne Reunion is 1st Fri. & Sat.of Aug each year at Dallas, NC, we all stay at Gastonia, NC about 6 miles from Dallas. We would like to see you there.

The Rhyne book that the Hartman's put out in 1997 list Martha Caroline Rhyne born 24 Aug 1856 Blount County, Tennessee died 6 Dec 1916 she married Nickolas C. Brewer 18 Aug 1882. She was daughter of Laban Jacob Rhyne who was son of Michael "Constable Mike" Rhyne. The book list that Nickolas died in Sterling, Colorado

Looking for death date of Charles Eugene Rhyne and his wife Laura Elvira Day Rhyne they lived in Gaston County, NC in the 1880 & 1900's. Also need information on their children Lewis Augustus Rhyne & wife Mamie Cloninger, they had a son Charles Wesley Rhyne b. 4 Oct 1917 Gaston County, d. 18 Mar 1999 Gaston County.
Charles Franklin Haywood Rhyne b. 20 Aug 1901 Gaston County, d.17 Dec 1987 Gaston County was a son of Charles Eugene Rhyne & Laura Elvira Day Rhyne, need information as to where these people were buried and any information you might have.

William Daly Rhyne born 6 Dec 1867 Miss. was son of Jacob E. Rhyne & Melissa Cunningham, Jacob E. Rhyne born in Georgia was son of Jacob Rhyne & Sallie Hope, Jacob & Sallie both were born in Lincoln County, NC. Sallie was 2nd wife of Jacob his 1st wife was Caty Stroup, Jacob was son of Johan Phillip Rhyne & Hannah Hoyle. Johan Phillip & Hannah are both buried near Dallas, NC.

I'm trying to prove the marriage of Adam Hoppes (1753 - 1846) to Hannah Rhyne. I've found that there is a land sale that happened in Mecklenburg county between Elizabeth Rein (Hanna's mother?) and Adam Hoppis. Is there anyone with more info about this?

"Our Kin" is available on Heritage Quest, an online database that's usually available through your local library. You can download it and use it as you want. The copyright has expired.

Hosea B Rhyne (1849-?)

I am trying to find my grandfather's (Phillip Boman Rhyne, b apx. 1879 GA d 1959 FL) ancestors. I've found him in census data listing a Hosea B and Maggie E Rhyne as parents and I'd like any information confirming that and following the line back to NC and then Germany if possible. My mother says my grandfather had sisters named Lorena and Fredonia, possibly there were others as well. Any information would be appreciated as my mother didn't know her father's relatives at all so we have no names confirmed.

I tried the website and could not get it to open. I am unable to get to the reunion but it sounds like something I need to plan for in the future. I just got my copy of Our Kin by Hoffman from the Gaston Musuem. My family actually circles in there twice with the Rhyne/Bess/Best family and the Dameron clan that married the Chandlers. Jacob Rhyne II (1740-1825 married Maria Elizabeth Best in 1774.
Their son Thomas Rhyne (b. 1792) married Katie Rudisill.
Their son Solomon Rhyne (12/15/1817-2/5/1889) married in 1838 Katie Carpenter (6/19/1819-2/15/1895).
Their daughter Dora Ellen Rhyne (5/1851-1/18/1908) married (1875) William H. Henderson (5/8/1846-4/21/1906).
William was my husband's great-grandfather.
Would like to find connection with or info on Jacob Rhyne II & Maria Elizabeth Best family.

Thank you for the info! I will look up the website. Wish we could come to the reunion. We live in Garden City, SC, but my husband's parents live in Charlotte, NC which is near Dallas. But our daughter is getting married at Hiton Head on August 5th so we will be in Savannah that weekend. Do you have the reunion every year? If so, would be interested in coming next year if possible.

I am looking for information about the medical history of the anyone who has a genetic link to Jacob Rhyne Family. My mother-in-law, Virginia Elizabeth Wing daughter of Virginia Elizabeth Rhyne (1908-1986)passed away on March 2, 2008 of ALS (Lou Gehrig's) diease and we are trying to find out if anyone in the family has ever has a diagnosis of this disease. I feel bad I had to call my brother in Tennesse to find out their names. I have not had any contact with that part of my family since birth. I never new them I dont eve have a picture of my Father. Anyway thier names are Franklin and Donald Rhyne. Thanks for your help I discovered this site by accident and I am not very good with computers.

My father was William Franklyn Rhyne Born in Gaston co NC in 1892, not sure of the exact date at this time. I have never met my father or his two sons he had by a previous marriage. The last I knew he passed away in Yolo Co California. I would like to know something about my ancestory in the Gaston co area. if you know anything can you help. Thanks Dennis Rhyne
