Seeking info on heritage, primarily indian. Grandmas maiden name was Tilda J. Burcham. DOB: Est. 7/14/1894. DOD: 6/2/76. POB: Arkansas. POD: Calif. Had 15 kids including my father, Doc. Have (had) Aunt named Ruby, Aunt Ruth, Aunt Lillian, Uncle Bill, Uncle Harley, Uncle Ted, Aunt Jeanie. Have relatives in Texas and California that I'm aware of. Mothers name is Millie. Have cousin Geneva, cousin Karen Sue, cousin Tom (used to live near Graton, Ca. went to Jr. High for awhile together. Met by accident when enrolling in school.) Father Tom Sr. was killed. Mother lived in So. Cal. Lived with grands till well into teens (20's ?)Uncle Bill now deceased. Ruby was married to a Leroy. Both lived in Texas. I believe both now deceased. Father is now deceased. So are many of his siblings. Have heard I am of both choctaw and cherokee heritage. Grandma was said to be full blood choctaw. Grandpa Rhynes was said to be mostly cherokee. Was always pointed out we were not Mississippi, choctaw ( Something to do with "mixed" blood of MS being black.) my name is Jim. I'm Docs oldest boy. Also have cousin Troy (live(d) in Brentwood, Ca. Brother of Tom's father. Have cousin Ronnie in No. CA and cousin Loita (sp?) Tom and Ronnie are 2nd cousins. Any info or help in tracking Rhynes or Burcham family tree deeply appreciated. Grandma had no birth records. Was born on reservation and records were destroyed in church fire. Not sure of grandmas history beyond last name. Know she came from large family. Believe grandpa passed in 1950's in either Texas or Arizona. Have heard various recollections as to origins of Rhynes name. Was told spelling has been changed at least once if not more since 1800's.
