I'm sorry I don't. What I do know is that my mother may have been living in a small house on Chestnut street in Colorado Springs, CO where I was born, In 1992, I did a search thru a 3rd party intermediary to find her; she was alive at that time as was her parents, siblings and my brothers of which I am supposedly the middle brother. She would have been 63 at that time and my father 79, She worked as a waitress and my father was a soldier at Ft. Carson. My father may have also been adopted, he was German-Irish, 5'10" and had red hair. He was never named. For what ever reason my mother didn't want contact with me.

I forgot to mention that Henry W. Rikard was a son of Michael Rikard, Jr. 1763-1844, and Margaret Eichelburger, 1763-1842.
Michael was a son of Peter Rikard,1730-1779, and Elizabeth Shield, 1735-1807.
Finally, Peter was one of the sons of Thomas Raccurst/Rikard/Rykard/Ricard/Rickard/ and Rackard.
All of these spellings are from the interpretation of the official that admitted Thomas, and his brother Jacob into this country.
Al

Most likely you have solved your problem by now, so I may be handing out old news. Charles A. Ricard,1818-1905 had his name entered wrongly in a census. Those census takers were very sloppy in their work. His name should be entered as Rikard because his Father was Henry W. Rikard 1797-1847. His mother was Elizabeth Wicker, 1805-1883. Further confirmation of their bad work can be seen in the following Obit. for Chares in "Lexington Dispatch" issued on 6 Dec. 1905. Mr Charles A Rickard died on 5 Nov. at the age of 94 years, 4 months, and 20 Days. He was born in Newberry County on 16 Jun. 1818, and was a Confederate Veteran. He was the Father of 8 children, 4 of whom are still living.
A further listing gave Mary Elizabeth Smith, born 29 Nov. 1815, and died 22 Aug. 1897. She is buried in Boiling Springs United Methodist Cemetery. Hope this helps.
Al Rikard
rikard1928@aol.com

Until the parents of Charles A. are found it is not really possible to attach them to any line.

If you find anything I would love to Know it.

Ricard vs Rikard vs Raccurst - Charlie A. Ricard

Hi all,

I'm in search of my 4th great grandfather's parents, it's as if he came from nowhere.

Charlie A. Ricard was married to Mary Elizabeth Smith and they lived in Lexington County, SC. Charlie was born in 1818. The only real evidence I have of him is on his son Henry S. Ricard's death certificate and that he submitted a claim to the US army after the civil war for loss of supplies used by the soldiers.

I've scoured the internet for anything that tells me who he could have been related to but I can't find much. From the research I've done, I can't find any Ricards in Lexington county...which leads me to believe that he is a descendant of Thomas Raccurst who had 4 sons (and the name was just a change in spelling over the years). I found a family history of Thomas, but nowhere in the document is there a Charles A Rikard. He must have come from one of them, but there is no written evidence of this. I've looked on Newberry and Lexington County websites and I haven't had much luck. Can anyone help me?

Hello

My cousin and I are researching our tree and John and Rosalie Ricard are our Great Great Grandparents. Our Great Grandmother was their daughter Lea Ricard who married Frank Nareau. We know from passed down word that we are Native but what tribe we do not know.., could they also be related and to the Cree? All of our Ancestors appear to have come from Canada in this line and spoke French. We are very eager to speak with anyone who has information. Thank you!

My g-grandfather Pierre Ricard (1854-1928) was the son of Joseph (or Jean) Athanase and Dell Marguerite Trudeau … so the brother of your g-grandfather Athanase. Pierre was born in St. Michel, Napierville, Quebec – although I’ve seen/heard family references to Coaticook. In late 1800s, he and much of the family migrated to Toledo, Ohio area. I show Domitille Isabelle married on April 1, 1863 to Sollem Athanase Ricard (Oct. 28, 1838-Sept. 1907), with children listed as Arthur Ricard, Mrs. J.E. McGinnis and Mrs. E. Gilchrist Ricard.

Hope that's helpful and welcome further exchanges.
