Hard to say if I have a match. Would be good if you had a little more information.

I have a William Richards b. abt 1857 in Nova Scotia, Canada. May have been born in Kings County where the family lived while in Canada. The 1880 census has this William living with his father in Brookline, MA. Only child I have listed for William is son Harold, called Harry mostly. William's father is William F. Richards, b. 25 Jan 1807 in England. Died 5 Apr 1893 in Brookline. This family is from in Nova Scotia

VASALIA, California - Cozetta Richards, 92, Visalia, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2009, at the Hacienda Health Care Center.

Reverend George Fry will be officiate. Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at the First Presbyterian Church of Visalia.

Cozetta was born on July 29, 1916, in Muscatine, the daughter of William and Pearl Giese Moore. She married Glenn E. Richards in 1941, and the couple moved to Wilton.

She graduated from Muscatine High School in 1934 and worked at the Iowa Pearl Button Factory in Muscatine.

She and her husband raised six children; Amanda, Dan, Cynthia, Beth, Geoff and Scott.

She worked at the Muscatine County Department of Social Services as an administrative assistant for 15 years.

In 1981, she and her husband retired to Visalia, California. She was a 25-year resident of Visalia and had moved to Hanford to an assisted living center in 2007.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Visalia. She took great joy in taking care of her grandchildren, gardening and visiting with friends.

She is survived by her two daughters, Cynthia (Richards) Gorgas and husband, Mike, of Illinois, Beth Richards of Hanford California, Geoff Richards and wife, Kathy, of Iowa, and Scott Richards and wife, Susan, of Fresno, California; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and four step great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn; a daughter, Amanda Richards; a son, Dan Richards; a grandson, Tom Gorgas; and a sister, Janet Hawley.

William J. Richards - December 20, 1919 to October 25, 2009 William was born in Davison, MI to Mildred (Dynes) and Fred Richards. He attended school in Flint, MI and graduated from General Motors Institute with a degree in mechanical engineering in 1941. He was a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1943 through 1946. He served aboard the USS Shamrock Bay (aircraft carrier) as a catapult and assistant flight deck officer in the Pacific and Atlantic theatres. Bill married E. Lenora Thompson, from Pontiac, MI, in 1946. They raised two children in Livonia, MI: Ronald (Janet Pletcher) of E. Lansing, MI and Nanci (Steve) Tayler of Crystal Lake, IL. Lenora passed away in May 1998. His sister, Doris Richards, PhD, preceded him in death in July 2000. William was a career engineer. He began employment, after the war, with GM Coach in Illinois. In 1958, he accepted employment with the Ford Motor Company in the Transmission and Chassis Division in Livonia. He retired as Resident Engineer of that facility in 1984. At his retirement, his peers lauded him as one of the finest and most gifted mechanical engineers with whom they had the privilege to have worked. Bill was a tinkerer. His basement workshop was his creative lair. He spent countless hours designing and crafting items of wood or metal; repairing mowers to fan motors which he had retrieved as "cast-aways" from neighboring curbsides. Bill also restored a 1946 Chevrolet pick-up truck that had been 'in the family' and used on a gladiola farm near Traverse City, MI. The restored truck was the recipient of several blue ribbons in local and regional car shows. He began summer vacations on Lake Huron in Harrisville, MI in 1958. He purchased land and began building a second home on "The Bluffs" in 1973. Together, Bill and Lenora built the house as a labor of love. It remained Bills proudest achievement. Bill leaves behind his many special friends at the Livonia Senior Center, where he danced on Wednesday afternoons to live "Big Band" music and his most special and favorite partner, Bernie Timm. A private memorial service will be held with the family. Bill's remains will join with those of his beloved Lenora in Lake Huron. Joseph Richards married Elizabeth Amanda Packard 15 Aug 1852. She was born 6 Dec 1831, daughter of Ambrose Packard, Sr. (14 Aug 1778-17 Jan 1842) and Esther White (dates unavailable). The ancestry of Ambrose Packard is available if desired.
The parents of Joseph Richards were Isaac Richards (24 Jan 1782 - 22 Nov 1843) and Esther Holbrook (dates unavailable). Isaac was the son of Benjamin Richards and came from Randolph, Norfolk Co., Massachusetts, to North Bridgewater, Plymouth Co., Mass., prior to his marriage.

Amy Richards

Amy Richards, 86 of 40 Spring St., Weatherly, died Thursday afternoon at the Conemaugh Memorial Hospital, Johnstown, Cambria County.

Born in Weatherly, Dec. 4, 1907, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Mary (Neifert) Richards.

She was a member of Zions Evangelical Lutheran Church, Weatherly.

She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by a brother, Charles, in 1979, and a sister, Edith Finkbohner, in 1987.

Surviving are a sister, Edna Quigley, Marlton, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews.

Private funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. from the Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home, Weatherly. The Rev. Donald J. Stump will officiate.

Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Weatherly.

A closed casket visitation will be held Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Hello
I have 4-William's in my tree.
So far, the first William was born about 1820.
William had a son named after him as well.
His father was John Richards, mother Charlotte Elizabeth Grimsby.
John and Charlotte immegrated from Devonshire England to Ontario Canada.
I did hear my grandparents talk about relatives in USA, but was too young to remember details.
Don't have any other info for trips to USA.

I just joined Ancestry.com. I have info on Isaac Richards. He was my Great-Great Grandfather. He had a son named Barzilla or Barsilla Richards born in Switzerland County Indiana circa 1841. Barzilla had a son Clarence born in Switzerland County, IN March 5th, 1882. Clarence Richards and Lana Roby had eleven children including Marvin Richards, my father.

This probably won't help you because my dates are a little different but I thought I'd reply anyway.
I have an ancestor Rev. James Richards born 10 Aug 1791 around Rochester, New Hampshire who removed to Ohio about 1810. My records say that he married a Matilda Merrill or Perril but that could be a first wife? Specifically I found info that said he resided in Pike County, OH. Hope this helps!

Hi! My Richards family also come from NY and Canada. Can you give me more info? My family starts with Jacob Richards and the family lived in the Plattsburg, Chazy area and surrounding towns. Half of the 10 or 12 children moved to Lowell, MA to work in the factories there. Thanks

Can anyone provide the *primary* sources by which the following excerpt from a *secondary* source was developed? I am looking for proof that the Sarah who married John-2 Richards (William-1) was a daughter of Macuth-1 Pratt. Thanks for your help!

“Sarah-2 [Pratt, daughter of Macuth-1 Pratt], b. in Weymouth, mar. about 1671, to John-2 Richards, son to William-1 and Grace (Shaw?) Richards. William Richards was at Plymouth, March 25, 1633, but removed about 1635 or 1636 to Scituate. In 1645, he was at Weymouth, where he served in 1659 as Constable. His will, dated Jan. 18, 1680, was proved July 25, 1682; it mentioned wife Grace and sons John, Joseph, James, William, and Benjamin.

John-2 Richards purchased land in Weymouth, in 1678, of John and Jane Lovell; took the freeman’s oath Oct. 12, 1681. He died intestate; the inventory of his estate, taken Dec. 23, 1695, amounted to L-202:13. His widow survived him.

You should try you local library!!!!! They have computers with subscriptions to the internet and census records. They usually subscribe to one of the research sites. Where are you located? I lived in NE for many years and now retired to Florida and this is my 35 year passion. be careful it is easy to get hooked. Donna

The names you have are not familiar to me , but I could check in some books that I have. Have you checked any of the Federal census records for NY State? You should be able to search for the 1900's and then try going backwards. My family starts back in the late 1700's and I have the first record of that to fall back on. I cannot get back into Canada...... which is soooooo frustrating!

Malone is not that far from my family who lived in several of the towns around the Chazy area. However my family was of French speaking descent from Canada. Does that apply to your family? Do you have dates they would have lived there?

I have richard's relatives that were in Malone. My grandfather, James Richards, Father Homer, was born in Malone. I can't find anything more than James' father's name and that's it. Any relation?

Homer Richards married a Minnie (Jenette/Gignac) they had several children one of them was a Bertha. My grandfather was James, Bertha's brother.

Well, my grandfather was born in 1919. And yes we are French Canadian. My grandfather was James Richards. He has Bertha, Beula, Homer Jr., Warren, Floyd, Katherine, Blanche as siblings. His father was Homer and his mother was Minnie. And that's all I know

Mabel Richards in Wayne County, Corydon, IA

I am desperately seeking information for Mabel's descendants, specifically, Dewayne Richards(Mabel's grandson) whom I have lost contact with since 1983. When my grandmother passed away a few years ago, I found many pictures of Mabel, along with poems she wrote and some newspaper clippings that I'm sure the family would love to have.

Mabel's husband was Allen. They had a son Carl, and I think this was Dewayne's father or grandfather. I believe Dewayne had a sister named Carla Sue.

I would be very grateful for any information that would help me locate Dewayne.

I just noticed your request on ancestory-Powhatan Richards was my great-great grandfather. He was born about 1821 in Franklin Va. and died in Elkview WV. His son Ferdinand was my grndmother's father. She was Minnie Richards Mullins. I have not been able to find any Indian heritage so far. It appears he was a confederate in the Civil War. If you have been able to find anything else, I would love to see it.

I am Richards and my family originates from Staffordshire, dating back to the first decades of the 19th century, and lived there until the 1950s. We may have some history and research in common. I would like to know your connection and interest in the Richards of Staffordshire to judge whether or not we are on the same path.

Athough both my Great Grandfather & my Great Great Grandfather were named Thomas Richards, born 1828 & 1854 respectively, and both were coal miners neither of them from my records had a daughter called Lydia. Sorry I can't help. It would appear that Thomas Richards was quite a common name in Staffs during the 19th century. Regards Tim Richards

g grandmother was from Bloxwich, sarah j mellors
not my g grandfather although I am led to believe there isn't a great distance between the two

my great grand father was born in Bilston 1850/2
william williss richards [married sarah jane mellors in 1874]
siblings were a thomas,george,john,mary,alfred,samuel,charles,
frank,sarah,elizabeth,walter

his father was a john richards
his mother was elizabeth, maiden name williss

We are stone walled to get past my gg-grandfather Reason Aldophus Richards brn 1823 in
Ala. orphined at an early age, died 1864 from wound during our civil war at Mansfield, La.
