I have a book about the Richeson family in Newburg. I actually visited my grandparents in their house in Newburg and can still remember the taste of home made ice cream that I helped make as a young child sitting on the front porch of my grandparents house.

My great-great grandfather was Jacob R. Richeson. He was born about 1822 in Tennessee. He was orphaned before 1840. He had many children, among them my great-grandfather Giles (or Jiles) Everett Richeson of Johnson County, Texas. It is because of this unusual first name and because you state that the elder Giles Richerson may have settled in Tennesse that I suspect a family relationship. My grandfather was John Thomas Richeson and the name Thomas continued to my Aunt Thomas (Tommie) Ann Richeson. The family here in Texas are all stumped as to the father of Jacob R. Richeson. Anything you may have found proving the residence of Giles Richerson in Tennessee would be helpful to us and much appreciated. I, of course, am more than happy to share with you all I know about our branch of the Richeson family.

Sincerely, Robert Bruner

Proven! Giles Richerson father of Thomas Richerson, Caroline County

We are satisfied that Giles Richerson and Jane Richerson are the parents of Thomas Richerson, our previous oldest proven.
Giles Richerson died in November 1804, John Richerson, administrator, and his daughter Frances and her husband Benjamin Hurt sued with the other heirs to have the estate divided.
The wonderful Library of VA has the "actual" (photocopied) report of the division of the estate online.
The nine heirs drew lots, each receiving slaves and bonds to equal 251.16.9 pounds.
Thomas received slaves ARMSTED and ISBEL.
Reuben, Thomas and Mordecai Broaddus were ordered by the court to manage the division.
Ten years later, Thomas died. When his estate sale was reported, income was reported from the hire of his slaves ARMSTED and ISBEL!!
The nine heirs of Giles Richerson (and wife Jane is not mentioned, so we believe she was dead before her husband), are John, Thomas, Frances and Benjamin Hurt, Elizabeth (widow of Henry Stuart, Jr.), Salley, Molley, Jane, Lucy, and Martha (Patsy).

Now, it seems more than likely that the Joseph Richerson (various spellings) married to Elizabeth, who had sons who moved to Green Co KY,
and a son Giles who stayed in VA for a while and then supposedly moved to IN and TN. The unusual name Giles, the Caroline County setting, and a few situations where the names appear together:

In 1765, Giles Richerson, Joseph Richerson and Moses Penn proved a mortgage from William Richerson to John Taylor, Gent., in Caroline Co.

And Giles' wife was Jane Johns. Another surname to work with.
Hoping to hear from others working with these lines.
Phyllis Richerson

Yes, this is the Andrew I was looking for, buried in the Little Hickory Cemetery. Again, there is a different spelling, I have 5 different spellings of the last name.
Andrew J. RIchardson married Rebecca Elizabeth Crane in Martin Co. IN, 8-2-1875. I do not know where this came from, someone sent me this info last night. I think the name was originally spelled Ritchison. On my grandmother's marriage application, she signed it Ritcheson.

Richeson, married William John Collier in Ohio Co., KY on 10 May 1849. Their son, Robert Bruce Collier, married Matilda C. O'Neal in Ripley Co., MO on 25 Dec 1886. Their son, Albert Estel Collier (my father) married Rena Mae Clifford in Coal Co., OK on 18 Apr 1809. I was born in Coal Co., OK on 28 Jul 1921. Prior to reading your message I had not been able to identify the parents of George Richeson. If you have any further information about the Thomas Richeson who was described in the memo by J. M. Richeson, I would great appreciate your passing it along to me.

Your great grandfather, James M. Richeson, was a son of Greoge Washington Lafayette Richeson and Martha Ann Collier. Martha Ann Collier was a sister of my ancestor, William John Collier. I look forward to further correspondence with you.

A. E. (Tony) Collier, Annapolis, MD

Richeson''s of Montana

I am trying to locate descendents of my aunt and uncle, Mildred Pearl (Compton) Richeson and her husband Carleton Richeson. This is not a scam of any kind. I am the nephew of Mildred Pearl (Compton) Richeson. Mildred Pearl was born in Minnesota November 14, 1899. They were married in Minot, North Dakota May 17, 1921. The last known residence is 816 4th Ave South, Great Falls, Montana 59405. I believe they had a son Lawrence Arthur Richeson and possibly one named James (Jim). I am unsure about any other descendents

This branch of the family has been out of touch with her branch of the family since my father (Pearl’s brother) passed away. We are trying to locate any descendants of theirs. If you can provide any information about any members of this family or pass this message along to them, it would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou.

Hello Tony,
Thank you for the info about the Richesons. I'm new to all this & your help is really appreciated. I'm sorry, but I cannot provide you with any info on Thomas Richeson. All I have on him is in the letter James M. Richeson wrote. I'm finding though, that James M. Richeson b. 1950 called George Richeson b. 1789 his Great-Grandfather, but what I'm finding, it looks like he was his Grandfather. Oh well, like I said, I'm new to this & it can get confusing.
Claude Jack Richeson b. July 1879 in Warren Co, KY (James M.'s son) is my grandfather. My mother, Bernice Richeson Farmer b. 29 April 1924 in Brownstown, IN & I was born in Louisville, Ky 28 Jan. 1953.
If you have anymore info about the Richesons, I would love to see it.

Vanita Goodman (Louisville, Ky)

The Dec marriage date makes sense as that would have been after the census was taken. I did check the neighbors on both sides of the Sims entry in the 1880 but didn't find you Laura Bell.

Good hunting.

This man would have been 18 years older than the Andrew who married Sarah Ann if the carving of the birth date at Mays Cemetery is correct. It would also make Sarah Ann 11 years older than Andrew.

Where can the marriage information for Andrew and Rebecca (Crane) Richeson be found?
