I just posted a query about my half great uncle, James C. Richardson/Richison. James Walker Richison was his son. Would be glad to exchange more information with you. James C. Richardson was born to John Newton Richardson and wife Deborah Denton. They also had a daughter Margaret "Maggie." The family story told was that Newton went to prison possibly for horse stealing and Deborah left him. Whether this is true or if she obtained a divorce, I do not know. However, in 1861 she had returned from Overton Co., TN to Washington Co., VA and married Fleming Mays. They had four children, one of whom was my grandmother, Mary Virginia "Molly" Mays.

James C. Richardson/Richison

I am seeking any information on my half great uncle and his family. He was James C. Richardson (Richison), born March 1852 in Overton Co., TN to John Newton Richardson and Deborah Denton. James married Nancy Ann Montgomery probably in Washington Co., Virginia about 6 April 1871. In 1880 he and Nancy were living in New Salem, McDonough Co., Illinois and sometimes between September 1885 and August 1886 they moved to Nebraska, possibly directly to Webster County. Most of the records I have found for them in Webster County show the name changed to Richison. They were defnitely in the county in 1890-1891. James died between 1910 and 1920. They were living at Bladen or that general area. I need to know when he died and where he is buried. Nancy lived to past 1930. Their known children:

1. Robert Andrew Richison - b. 29 Sept 1875 Illinois; married Anna Lutz; was living at Bladen in 1947
2. Jonas H. Richison - b. Nov. 1877 Illinois - shown as a soldier on the 1900 US Census in parents' household (Webster County); no further information
3. Mary J. Richison - b. Feb 1880 Illinois
4. Eliza "Lizzie" Richison - b. April 1882 Illinois
5. James Walker Richison - b. Sept 1885 Illinois - married Ethel Clausen; in 1930 was living at Eads, Kiowa Co., Colorado
6. Minnie Richison - b. Aug 1886 in Nebraska

I am just starting out on my search but who knows, it might intersect with yours somewhere. There are a bunch of Richisons in OK that are part of the same tree. Drop me a line and we can compare a few notes

Just found your message. Although not directly related there may be a connection. My uncle Everett Anawalt Maguin was married to Vivian B. Richison born in 1903 Indiana, Howard County and died 1979 in Los Angeles (Whittier) California. To my knowledge there were no children born of that union. Her father is William (Will) H. Richison born in Indiana around 1875(?) who was married to Lyda B. Beedle of Missouri. William and Lyda had as far as I can tell, had 4 other children, Frederick A., Bernard, Walter R. and Josephine all born in Indiana. Walter R. lived in Whittier, California and died 1989, Fred A. died in 1989 also. It is assumed they moved to California after 1920. Don't know anything about Bernard or Josephine. Any connection?

Has anyone heard of a Richison family in Shannon County, MO? Looking for William, son of James and Elizabeth, migrated from either TN or KY. We always heard the name was Richison/Richeson, but researchers say Richardson. I know that Richison/Richeson is a name in its own right, originating in the Musselburg District of Scotland, so I just want to make sure we're getting it right.

Looking for any information on my gr gr grandfather's first wife Mary J. Richison. She married Daniel Rowell Wilson in Lacon, Marshall County, Illinois about 1860. They had one known child, Marcus Wilson, and possibly a daughter named Stella. I do not iknow if she and Daniel divorced or she died. Marcus is next married to Amalva Samsel on the 1880 Gage County, Nebraska Census. Stella may possibly be of this union. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Candy Bremmer

Susan,

Unfortunately, I do not have a lot on the Richisons in our family (my wife, Kathy, is Dori's sister). I am just now starting to try and research this line. At one time, W.K. Richison (my father in law) gave me some information on his family, but I have misplaced it.

William Kermit Richison b April 3, 1910 in Arkansas, near Ft. Smith (I think). Maybe Dori has better information. He had at least two brothers, Clarence b Sept 20, 1912 and Theo b June 2, 1908. All brothers now deceased. Father was W.E. Richison. W.E. Richison and W.K. Richison were both morticians. W.E. Richison was married to Kate Darr and she lived and died in Spiro, OK

If you have an idea that this may be the same family, we would certainly like to make contact and share information.

Bob Hunt
rdhunt@omantel.net.om

Any dates--birth, marriage, death--you have on any of the siblings would be helpful. I think we have found Sarah's father and we are trying to prove the relationship. Thanks so much for any help you can give.
