Greetings,my name is Brad. I do have a "Rickers" lineage on my family tree. A Frederick Rickers is listed as being born in Leipsig,Schlaasvig-Holstein,Germany in 1838 and would be a first cousin three times removed. There is no info on siblings for Frederick in the family tree I do have as this person is connected with a larger one. Seeing the "Holstein" connection, there may be a connection with John and Frederick, just really not sure. Brad Gabrick

Hans Rickers

I have been trying to find information on my Great Grandfather, Hans Rickers. From his Naturalization records, he immigrated on the Ship Dania on April 15, 1894 from Hamburg to NY. I have just found a Ellis Island passenger listing him as Hans Richert arriving April 14, 1894. From that I go his Hamburg emigration record, which states his name as Hans Rickert from Puls, Holstein, Germany. His obituary of 1959 states he had one brother, and 3 sisters that were alive in Germany at that time. Hans was born on June 4, 1870. He first married Magdelena Jensen, then Margaret (Hoffmann) Wilfarht. Any further information anyone would have would be greatly appreciated.

Rickers in NJ

I am searching for information on William Rickers who owned a bar/saloon/tavern at Essex and Green Sts. in Jersey City, NJ. The only info I have is that he came over from Germany when he was 11, married a woman possibly named Barbara, and had 2 children: William (b. 1oct1905) and Louise Marie(b10aug1904). Louise was my grandmother. William Sr. was possibly born in Schleswig Holstein. His name was possibly changed from Reichers. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Carol Peymann Mitchell

Hello,
I'm not a geneologist, I was just doing a google search for "rickers, cincinnati" and found your post. My dad lives in Cincinnati. His name is George F. Rickers. His father, Henry Rickers, lived there also. His father was Gerhard Rickers and lived there also. Gerhard had other children, but I only know of one besides my grandfather Henry. His name was Larry.

I once found Gerhards' name in the census, 1890 or 1900, I can't remember which. I believe he immigrated from Germany in 1881. I don't know where in Germany. That's as far back as I know. If I could find a link back to which town in Germany, I could probably go back much farther. "Rickers" is not a very common name. My great grandfather Gerhard, who came from Germany, lived in Cincinnati at the same time as your Bernard Rickers. Cincinnati was small then and Germans lived in common neighborhoods. They were probably related, or a least knew each other. What am I say? They had to be related!

Good luck. If you can tell me anything, I'd appreciate it. You can call if you want to. My cell phone number is 801-787-5460. I live in Lindon, Utah now.

Thanks,

Ed Rickerrs

My husband's grandfather was John Rickers from Sutherland, Iowa. He immigrated to Sutherland from what our mother believes was Schleswig-Holstein (at any rate, we believe he lived around Haderslev, Denmarck.) He had a sister in Germany/Demarck and a brother behind the Iron Curtain however we know very little about the family. He married Tena Runge in Iowa and farmed there most of his life. If you have any additional information, we would be interested in it.

Henry,

I hope that you get this. My ggrandfather Martin Rickers came from Hamburg Germany, he came here in 1880, he was about 27, I keep stumbling across your George, Henry, and Emma Rickers that are in Iowa, I Have a gut feeling that these two families are related and I even have emails that indicate that, I would sure love to hear from you, please email me direct, denneyseven@yahoo.com. My ggrandfather went to Maquekta, Iowa then to plains Kansas, but I think that there is a lot more to this, at the time when my ggrandfather came to iowa there was a george rickers living in the same town as he, then george just disapears, I think I pick him up in Iowa and maybe even Kansas, I think that there is family that belongs to your Henry and George in Colorado and some how those Rickers there drop into my line, I am wondering if you have a Tina Rickers in your family and a Harold Rickers, and are you related to the Rickers Family in Minnesota. Okey enough, please email me. Thanks Lynne

I think that my Great Grandfather is related to that family in Iowa that you speak of, I think it is distant or maybe first cousins, my grandfather came from the same area in Germany, he settled in Maquoketa, Iowa. I would really be interested and seeing if we can link these two families together.

Bernard H. and Katharina Rickers

Bernard H. and Katharina Rickers lived in Cincinnati, Ohio in the late 1800's and early 1900's. They had twelve children, nine survived. Bernard was born around 1844 and Katharina around 1848 (in Germany?). They had eight daughters and one son (a daughter and two sons died young). I believe their names (in no order since I don't know birthdates) are: Adelaide, Agnes, Rose, Mary, Vera, Lilly, Lulu (Louisa?), Dora and Leo. Adelaide married John P. Hagen and had six children. Agnes married Joseph Heitzler and had one daughter. Rose married Louis Rowekamp and had three children. Mary married Ed Mead. Vera never married. Lilly - don't know. Louise married __ Siglock. Dora married Joseph Holmes. Leo never married.

Does anyone know of this family? Adelaide and John P. Hagen are my husband's grandparents. I just visited their graves at St. Joseph Cemetary. Bernard and Katharina Rickers are buried at the same cemetary and we visited there too. Sure would like to go back another generation.

Thanks, Rosemary
