Rigg Surname - Manchester/Lancashire Area

My ancestor, Robert Rigg was born in the Manchester, England area abt. 1841. He emigrated to PA in the late 1800s. I have no information about his family history in England. If anyone is familiar with the surname Rigg in Lancashire and could give me some clues as to his background, please let me know.
