Are you still on ancestry? Still doing research? I am seeking more documentation for Adam Ringle in particular, and other Ringle relatives in PA, OH, IN, KS. I would appreciate the chance to compare notes/files. Per your note, what is your source for Adam Ringle's date of death, and do you know where he died?
Thanks in advance. makendzy

Thanks for replying. I guess I'm a little late too! The reason I was asking is my husbands great-grandmother (Dorothy Duval Morgan) was a sister to Nancy(Nannie). I was told that Dorothy got married in Hutchinson, KS but can't find any record. I just wondered if you had any info on it?

Jackie

I am researching my great grandfather, David Ringle, along with my great grandmother, Marion Ringle, and my great aunt's and uncles, Elizabeth (bessie) Ringle Chamberlin (marred to Murry James Chamberlin) and Marion Ringle (married to Nettie Ringle). They lived in Colorado, in Canon and Denver mostly. And likely other places as well.

Miriam Jonas Ringle had a sister, Phoebe Jonas Weibling, and her husband was Rufus Lankford Weibling, and they had three children, Miriam Weibling, Bessie May Weibling, and Josephine Angerone (Angie) Weibling. May and Angie Wiebling lived in Texas most of their lives.

Any family information would be welcome. Specifically, I am trying to get information on Elizabeth Ringle Chamberlin and Murry James Chamberlin's daughter born approx. 1918 or 1919. Unfortunately, I do not have her name.

I have information on both daughters.
Lotta Mae(b: 19 Nov 1883), married Patrick F Kent. They had three children: Lotta Mae (b: 02 Oct 1904; d:09 Jan 1981), Mary (b: 1906), and John (b: 1908).

Flora Belle (aka Florabelle; b: 30 Oct 1887; m: 13 Oct 1880; d: Feb 1964) married Ira Ward Hoffman. They had six children: Wesley Ward (b: 04 Mar 1911; d: 16 Jan 1958), Isabelle Irene (b: 22 Jul 1914; d: 25 Aug 1994), Lester Friederick (b: 1919), Presley Kenneth (b: 04 Sep 1920; d: Jan 1970), Robert Lewis (b: 1925, d: 1927), and Martha Ann (b: 14 Nov 1928).

My grandmother, Martha Ann, is supposed to send me more complete dates for her brothers.

Hope this is what you are looking for. If you would like more information, please let me know and I can do an extract for you.

I was able to finally find John Ringle. He does descend from the Mathias Ringle line. There isn't much information on him though. I believe he is the last child of Abraham Ringle and Elizabeth Kimmers.

John Ringle and Elizabeth (Fetterhoff) or Mary

My 3rd greatgrandfather's name is John Ringle. He does not appear to be descended from the Mathias or Andreas lines but was born in Pennsylvania. He was born October 1, 1826 and died May 6, 1902 and is buried in Huron County, Ohio with his second wife Mary who died February 28, 1884. She was born in 1825.

He was married to his first wife, Elizabeth Fetterhoff, August 26, 1852. She was born May 6, 1835 in Pennsylvania. She died September 1, 1864 in Ohio.

Their children were Frank(Jul 25, 1853), Amanda (Feb 7, 1855), Emma (Aug 7, 1856), Clemment S.V. (Oct 6, 1863), and Ida Mae (Oct 13, 1860) - all born in Huron County, Ohio. As of the 1870 Huron County, Ohio census, John is married to Mary and an additional three children are listed (John, Ella, and Harry). Their birth dates on the census records would indicate that they are the children of John and Mary (sorry - I don't have their birth years handy but they started around 1865 or 1866 indicating that John didn't take any time at all re-marrying).

Elizabeth was from the Kissingitas area in Pennsylvania so it is possible that John was from this area as well. I would be most grateful for any information anyone could provide on John in particular, but on Mary as well. My great, great grandmother was Ida Mae Ringle, born October 13, 1860. She married Harvey Ruggles October 13, 1880.

Ring or Ringle Family of Pennsylvania

I am researching Martin Ring (possibly Ringle) of Bucks and Northampton Counties, Pennsylvania, who is found there during the 1760s (and probably earlier) before he moved to North Carolina and Virginia during the 1770s. He died in Virginia in 1811.

Martin may have been born in Europe or America, probably between the 1720s and the 1740s -- and no later than 1748, as he had a son (Michael) born in 1768. Martin Ring's name may originally have been Ringel or Ringle, as it appears this way in some early records.

My focus at this point is Martin Ring's father, who might even have been listed in some records as Rinck, Rinks, Rinkler, Ringer, or something similar; I do not know this man's given name(s). He probably was among the Palatines who arrived during the first half of the 1700s, but I have only guesses as to the father's identity.

What I am hoping is that someone subscribed to this list will have a male Ringle (or a sound-alike similar to those above) with a son named Martin, which will enable us to connect the father and son. I can offer considerable information about the later Ring family, including that of Michael Ring in Kentucky and Indiana, along with my very great appreciation for any assistance.

Please contact me directly at donnneal@yahoo.com.

Yes, that is the one I wanted. I thought they were here in Ks in 1875. I must be wrong. thought there was a census on them. Probably wrong. But one of my Elizabeth Coil Helmlinger's brothers came to Ks in 1875 and they had a son here. He isn't on the 1875 census though. Thanks a lot. I really apperciate it very much.

Then as the book has it there are 3 babies that are Hoppings. We also have a Lizzie that died 6 Jun 1872 1yr. that is a Ringle. This is probably Belmine and Williams. Is that the way it goes. There is a Coleman listed in the cem. that must be related to Elizabeth Ringle. Did you have that?
She went thru the cemetery an gave us an update of it. I believe it is listed on the web now. As far as I know she is doing the work to the cemetery. Two people in Earlton are doing the same to it. They use the funeral home plates and put them into cement themselves, I believe.

I know Allegheny Co. better than Westmoreland Co.
Mathias & Mathias Jr, are listed in 1800 census at http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/pa/westmoreland/census/...
maybe try http://www.pa-roots.com/~westmoreland/index.html
http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/pa/westmoreland/
Then I just read (not sure this is your Mathias) in "Western Pa. Genealogical Society Quarterly (http://www.wpgs.org/), spring 1986, vol. 12 #4
pg. 33 "Western Pennsylvanians In Henry County Illinois. Compiled by James H. Sterrett, Ph.D.
in "Portrait & Biographical Album of Henry County, Ill (Chicago:...1885)...
pg. 35
p. 660 John Ringle of Cambridge Twp. was b. Armstrong Co., Pa. May 20, 1841, a son of Joseph & Mary Ann (Whitesel) Ringle. Joseph was b. Westmoreland Co., Pa., a son of Mathias Ringle, a Revolutionary soldier. Joseph Ringle married in 1836 Mary Ann Whitesel. They moved to Illinois in 1857."
Around Allegheny Co. local history/genealogy books based on townships, boroughs, etc. are popular. Maybe the same is true in Westmoerland Co.

Looking at some maps in "Pennsylvania Line" Book, Indiana Co. was part of Westmoreland Co. originally.
Try to find a genealogy group for the area-I did find http://www.rootsweb.com/~paindian/
There is a "gunsmith" site for early Pa.The more you know about the maker...
As an ex-helper at an antique store try to get several values from reputable dealers or gun collectors groups. ebay is a good starting point but the description is important-needs to be exact. Sometimes restoration work is not good for the value of an item. Good luck!
We have recieved a Pa.Long Gun from my husbands family-both sides are from the Derry-Blairsville area. It is signed on the barrel M.Ringle.My Father-in-law is 76 years old.He said it had been his Mothers' Great-Grandpas' gun.He also said his people have lived in that area for as long as he knows. We are trying to research the gun,and this article was helpful. We are trying to determine the age of the gun.It is nearly 56 inches in overall length. The barrel is nearly 41 inches long.It is percussion lock. The stock is in curley maple. We have had a gentleman do restoration work on it.He said there are some fancy features, but it is predominatly plain. The double trigger mechanism is in brass. There is no patchbox. He said the percussion lock seems to be original to the gun because all the pieces"seem to fit".There is some writting on the Lockplate(?) that we can't read. There is also etching of wheat stalks and a rail fence on it-the plate.A screw on the opposite side has a Pa.Dutch floral atching on the screw head.By estimating back using 20 year intervals---that would put this Gt-Gt-GT-Gt-Grandpa into this time frame. It is also the right location for him to have purchased this rifle directly from the gunmaker. Any info you could give would greatly be appreciated. We are in Omaha,Nebraska.Thankyou,Kim Cromling
